Obviously, we don't know the specifics of what the exacts mechanics of new tech are going to be, but we do know the basic stats of such tech.

Thus, there are some things which should be no brainers.... be they using HMGs, Snub Nose PPCs, LFEs, etc.

Me? Much as I love my ASNs, I don't see anything knocking my old, faithful 4G(F) Hunchback as my "daily driver".

And as such, it's an easy one to forecast what I'll be adding.

250LFE. Endo. Light Ferro (10 tons). Weapons? I doubt I'll alter them. AC20... sure I have access to LB-20X, UAC20 or a RAC5.... but I don't see the advantage, unless the requisite facetime is minimal. AC20? Shoot n Twist.

ERMLs? Already tend to get hot in a good scuffle with just my 3x MLs..... IS MLs don't really give that much more range, and will probably have a longer burn to boot. So probably just an extra half ton of ammo (even at 4.5 tons I currently have, I do run out more often than I would expect... even with a 67% accuracy rate with it. So 5 tons? Why not), and maybe an extra DHS.

So yeah, nothing truly exciting on the surface. 18 pts more armor, 3 more shots for my AC20, 18 more points of armor and and 9 kph more speed. Minor changes overall, nothing "sexy". But still, noticeable.

Depends on how badly IS quirks get nerfed, and what the weapon GH are. I know I'm gonna be packing tons of Heavy Lasers for Clan one-hit-delete builds, on the EBJ and the MAD-IIC.

Light Goose trolling on the Rifleman might be fun. So is UAC2 spam on the Mauler. Light PPC might combo well with AC5 for lighter PPFLD builds.

wouldnt count on it.

large heavy lasers will likely be ghost heated at 1 (maybe 2 if the beam duration is terrible)

medium heavy lasers will likely be ghost heated at 3

because ghost heat will severely limit how many you can have, the only real advantage of heavy lasers is going to be hardpoint compression. it will help mechs like the shadowcat that only have 3 energy hardpoints.

A few of my mechs will see revisions. My Hellslinger BattleMaster will see some extraneous equipment pulled (command console, AMS), and a couple weapon upgrades/swaps (Streak 2 launchers become 4s, LPLs pulled for SnPCCs). Just about anything with a side-torso AC20 will get a new LFE (Orion VA, MAD-5M), as will any mech I currently have with a standard engine and no CT hardpoints (and even a few that do have CT hardpoints, I say while eyeballing my Archers). Some of my mechs might start boating LPPCs, we'll see.

Gonna strip my Timberwolf D streaks for some ATM's and my S SPL with HSL or HML, the rest gonna take me a while to figure out.

Seems like not too many people are grasping on to the concept of "pet mech".... guess I'm the odd one on these things

getting nuts in trying to make the Misery to work like a 8S - minus the secondary lasers because I might not be able to mount a LFE
as many Light PPCs as possible for the Zeus

maybe a AS7K with HPPC and HGR - (why K - well with only 1 ballistic and 1 missile i can ignore any other option - alternative HPPC and UAC20 with more speed

Honestly, the "pet" mechs are generally such because they work well. Why mess with what works?

Stalkers will be a lot more fun to work with. The Misery especially will have a lot more options with things like MRMs to fill that single missile slot.

unfortunately mixing different weapons tends not to work too well.

as long as the game rewards boating there wont be much of a reason to use single missile slots for MRMs.

One could have said that in Closed Beta too, when level 2 tech was introduced. You mess iwth "success" because new toys allow for MORE success? (like um....LFEs in a Hunchback?)

I think 1G's PPC velocity quirk would help a lot. Assuming PGI doesn't nerf it to nothing in the new skill tree system.
