So, ripping off the half a dozen layers of bandages to finally pour anti-septic or perform surgery on the wound (i.e. IS/Clan balance disparity) is not what should be done?
The half-assed balance attempts (including quirks) at IS/Clan have been simply adding to the problem. More and more has been layered on top of the previous attempts and the game is in a horrible state of balance, worse in fact than the initial Clan release because at this point its harder to fix with all the puss and rotted flesh covering the problems.
You have to remove complexity and work on the basics before adding complexity back into the system. So they're removing quirks, fixing the Engine-Agility coupling problem, and replacing the cancerous tumor that was the old skill system with a 2x basic bonus which gave our mechs ridiculous heat/agility capabilities.
Yeah...its terrible... /sarcasm
P.S. The quirkpocalypse has ended and they should never been used as a full 'balancing' mechanic instead of the original means of giving mechs lore and gameplay based 'flavor' to them. (i.e. actual quirks)
