Sounds like you want a single player game. You won't have too long to wait.

Nope... I love my online game.

I just long for the days when folks didn't parse every word and action or inaction for something to be offended by.

Some folks really like to pretend to be offended by...well, anything. Gives them something to complain about. Try watching TV or going to a restaurant with my elderly parents. Boyo, they get offended by what people wear, what they say, how they look, what they eat, how they eat, etc. etc. Don't even get them started on...well, any tolic, come to think of it. I pray I don't become them, but it is probably inevitable.

As to this game, I am not actually offended by PGI's lack of effort or hackneyed balance efforts or Russ every time he opens his mouth, but I sure have a good time mocking them for it. It never gets old. If they stop doing these things, well, I just don't know what I would do for entrtainment...probably have to find some game to play or something.

They went to the salt mines, found some vitriol instead, developped ulcers, then came back even more bitter here.

@Thosewhofeartomorrow.

Well, I'm rather f*cking offended that you think MWO is played by people in just one country sir! As it happens, the game is played in several countries and I would like you to acknowledge this and apologise to every other country individually with a heartfelt letter of apology (no copy and pasting allowed).

If not, us whiners will haunt you for the rest of your days and utilise the most obnoxious warhorn we can, which will sound, greeting your Mech's destruction, every time we kill you. Good day to you sir, you xenomorphic b***h!

(no offense.. Live, laugh, love..)

i find it amusing how much effort people put into finding fault with things that people say and so little into basic reading comprehension.

I hardly post, my enthusiasm for the game now is practically Zero.

I'm playing XCOM 2, world of Warships and Shadow run, while wondering if this is a short term thing, or is it likely to extend when battletech beta arrives, and if to cancel stuff I might not use or hold on until my opinion picks up

I guess the OP was written in jest, but I'm going to provide some serious answers anyway.

After 5 years, there's about 10 people left actively posting on the forum. They each know the opinions of the other 9 people. On top of that, they all know the game in and out, and it hasn't really changed at all during the last 4 years. They also know that the other 9 people won't change their opinions. There's nothing left to say. There's nothing left to discuss. When I see a thread that someone has started, I don't even have to read the content of the OP before I know which people will like the OP and which people will poopoo all over it.

Furthermore, there's like 5 years of bad blood soaking the forum. At some point, you just get very tired of the hostility, passive-aggressiveness (I'm not talking about micro-aggressions, I'm talking about being a straight douchebag) and you call people out on it. Or, alternatively, you start blocking people and before you know it, you're blocking so many people that most thread pages end up being about 150 pixels long.

Here's a puppy.

There was a time around here where players, regardless of their distinction or affiliation, wore kevlar vests... Stood fast on their convictions and leaning into adversity with dogged determination.

Now... It's like every special snowflake has migrated from college campuses across the world to MWO.

It's like neither the player base nor the developers can sneeze in any general direction without personally offending some segment of the community.

It's like over night over half this player base lost their cajones... They can't play without feeling disenfranchised, they can't forum war without feeling personally attacked.

One thing for certain... They are masters of spinning hyperbole, utilisation of strawmen arguments and feigning indignation.

The face of MWO has seemingly transitioned from this:

I know, right!?
The last challange, the one with incursion game mode. Whiny little girls with their "oh, the challange was not fair! It was so hard! I didn't get my free stuff BAAAAW!". And the worst thing is that for no reason Piggy listened to them and give them undeserved stuff! What's wrong with you? Piggy, go back to fixing this game, and you, whiny girls, go back to protesting against Trump's hair or whatever.

Remember 2 or so years ago we had an event, where you could win a mechbay and Victor champion? You had to play 20 games, and in each of them you had to do at least 1 kill, 1 KMDD, 5 assists, do certain amount of dmg or matchscore, win the match AND survive the whole thing. Please tell me how this is not harded than kill one bloody light mech with power cell. "Hurr not all games were incursion" well bad for you. What's the point of challange if you don't have to trapy hard to beat it?
(I didn't win Victor champ, got like 18 or 19 qualified games when the event ended. Don't remember so much whining.)

OP: Your thread, if serious, is pointless, and reeks of classical "angry old man" lunacy, where everyone was tougher "back in mah day" because they had to walk uphill to school in both directions in the snow in July. If your thread is a joke, it's a good one - kudos!

That being said, many people honestly seem to think that everything is a competition to prove one's manliness, including games and other trivial things. This is a game, not life. Nobody is under any obligation to "stick it out and prove how tough they are." Some people clearly feel that way thanks to the sunk cost fallacy, and that's their problem. As for the rest, when the game ceases to be fun, they will leave - and that is there choice.

Many people need to stop confusing facts with whining and a refusal to bang one's head against a wall for "not being tough enough to keep playing a game after it ceases to be fun."
