really should be resetting contracts prior to this.

So, since you're not resetting contracts, that means mercenary groups who prefer playing on Clans, and who want to be on Clans for this event, are stuck staying with IS if they happened to pick a contract the day before to join the IS.
Which means they're stuck working for the opposing side for the first week of the competition until they can switch midway.
Real nice of you, PGI-NOT!
Do the right thing and reset the contracts, would you?

How do we pick a faction for the event. Sure as hell my Devil Dogs won't be playing Liao. We just happened to have the contract at the moment. We will be playing as Wolves or not at all. Do I need to send a ticket into support?

Will you reset contract / faction association before the event?

Don't do this to us. PLEASE don't do this to us. We really want to play in this event, but:
Some of us would NEVER play for Liao.
Some of us will ONLY play for Wolf.
We are only Liao for the Cbills currently, because there faction play was meaningless. Now that it has meaning, we must be allowed to play with our trothkin, as we have the last two events. If you'd announced this a day earlier, we would not have taken our current contract.
You MUST let us play with our friends. Don't do this to us! This is the first event my unit has been excited to play in months!
Our unit did well on the leaderboards in the past, and we want to see if we can match that achievement again. But I need to have my guys united in order to show up at all!
PLEASE change us to Wolf. PLEASE.

Yeah maybe but its not only about this event. Its in genererally...
But for this event, i can understand ppl asking for a contract reset. Everybody wants to be prepared and should have given enough time before such an even to get and be prepared for it. Switching factions or getting new mechs ready, doesn't matters for me.
Since years PGI's communication before bigger events is just nuts. A day or even hours before something starts they tell us about it.. thats not really professional in my oppinion. And this makes ppl angry, flooding the forums.
And by the way... reddit, twitter and facebook...wtf?!!! The official game forum should be the FIRST place where things has to be announced and communicated...thats just by the way.

can't stop laughing about these walls of text explaining why someone *needs* to change faction... drama drama
I like that this event didn't get a long standing announcement so everyone could switch to clans. And in the end it is just another event like we have every two weeks, just some bigger rewards than usual.
Best thing by the way is that it is the final Tukayyid battle and we can move on from here.
This event Happens at the same time every year for the last Two years.
That is a lot of lead time!
People on the FWLM TS I use have been talking about Tukayyid for the last month. What Mechs to bring, Order to drop, other IS Team-speak Addresses and all the things to get the most out of the Event.
Enjoying my first Tukayyid so far! With reasonable success. We are dropping two almost full companies and winning more than loosing.
Whenever we drop a full 12 Man we get very tough opposition from a top tier Merc Company or very occasionally a Loyalist Clan unit.
As most of our best drop callers got bored of the All Clans Vs All Houses FP format and left so we are missing their vast experience and personal mech piloting skills.
Will be interesting seeing who wants to switch mid week I know of one unit that wants to go against the flow and Abandon the clans for a place among the true successors to the Star League.
But all the others want to go to the clans for Various reasons. Mostly the appeal of lighter Clan weapons and XL engines.
The only thing that personally appeals to me about switching sides is the greater number of vastly experiences drop callers.
Well Have fun out there on the combat wracked continents of what was a formerly nice planet!
