Posted ImageRight. So this. What does this mean? Does it mean what I think it means? Why would it mean what I think it means. As it happens, I was loading into this siege match and the game froze up and crashed. Siege mode seems to be unusually taxing on my computer to load compared to other maps. But usually its just a slow load.

What is this? Is this supposed to be some kind of leaver penalty? Because that doesn't make any sense. In fact, I can't think of a single scenario in which it would. What, exactly, are they trying to incentiveize? Because if this is the case, then as a player it would make more sense to never reconnect to games that are lost due to freezes and crashes. Which would have screwed over my team.

I'll mention that by the time I reconnected, they hadn't even gotten through one of the gates. So my total loss of effectiveness due to late connection was approximately zero. But HEY! If I ever lose connection again, I guess I should just go do something else, right? Thats what your trying to tell me. Why should I play a game in which I'll get no rewards?

Yeah, this lack of rewards on rejoining thing is bull. It takes more than two minutes to even reconnect. So if you fail to join a game, your screwed. If you want to stop people from coming in at the last minute, I'd say extend this timer to ten minutes at least. Otherwise what are you trying to do? I just don't get it.

they seriously need to fix the disconnect penalty both lack of rewards for reconnect and the stacking launch time penalty

Yeah, i don't get that either.

You shouldn't get rewards if you leave and DON'T come back, but if you rejoin, you should get everything you earn.

Kinda bollocks when the servers have a shitfit and cause you to lose out on 30 minutes of your life >500k cbills and XP

As I remember when they added this they said almost everyone makes it back in 2 minute s that's why they picked it.
But it should be longer because cw matches are longer.

Almost everyone makes it back in 2 minutes? What are they smoking? There is the time you sit staring at the frozen screen waiting to see if it will connect. Then you have to force close the client. Then you launch the patcher. Then you launch the second login client. Then you launch and load the mechbay. Then you FINALLY launch the game. I checked and about 4 minutes had passed in the match before I had gotten back in.

Pgi said it not me. The system is setup for disconnects not or software crashing. If your software is crashing often you need to look into to why it's happening.
Over all 2 minutes is fine with me in normal games as some of these only last 5 minutes anyway. CW of course last longer so you can still be of use 5 minutes in.

It doesn't happen often. This is the second time in one or two weeks. But still... even if its rare, I don't understand what this penalty is meant to solve.

There are known bugs in the software that can cause crashes. It is also not intuitive for new players to know to immediately restart the game and then exactly how to log back in (yes it is under "quick play" to rejoin a faction match).

Sorry but if you crash so much I wouldn't want you on my team. People crashing is mostly hardware and driver issues. These can be fixed. I'm even willing to help if I can.

Too bad this isn't a normal game, we have an excess of loading screens, many throttled server side. But yeah many QP games are over fast enough that reconnecting just drops you to a dead mech.

Honestly I don't mind the penalty for QP. Matches are short enough and you can easily jump into another mech and then whatever. But for a half hour long faction warfare match, getting no rewards is just a kick in the nuts.

I guess what this comes down to is that next time the game freezes up on loading a FW game, I'll just quickplay or whatever. Hey! Having one less team member will mean that my team will lose all the faster so I can use my drop deck again!

2 minutes wouldn't matter if you're not just waiting and waiting and waiting

skip the videos
type in password, hope you don't have a typo when under time pressure
wait for the ads to load in the mechlab (sigh)
waiting for the map to load and connect you

haven't even gotten around rebooting you're PC or Router
only just trying to launch the thing and get into the match again

I've had it stack because of multiple group members crashing out so the whole group got a 5+minute wait time before we could launch into a new match, it is really stupid and really frustrating to get punished for the game being screwed up.

I have been penalized after rejoining within 90 seconds. I swear there is a bug in the timer.

Leaver penalty should really take effect after 3 minutes for Solo-Q, and 5 minutes for CW.

The problem with this "feature" is that most leaving is in the form of game crashes or connection instability (whether it is you or their servers, it matters not).

If the person doesn't show up, it's one thing.... but the long wait for CW matches (due to whatever spaghetti code that's involved) becomes a problem.

As you can clearly see the only rewards penalized are the Win/Loss/Tie payouts. You receive everything else that you earned.

Yes, the system is dumb, does not accomplish what they want it to and should have a (far) longer grace period.

it should probably be 3 minutes, cant see giving a longer grace period than that though.
