The IS just got smashed with the nerf bat again. Clans didn't get nerfed they got buffed with the new skill tree.
Clans are faster and have more firepower than ever before. While IS got quirks removed. The engine decouple
nerfs brawling and torso twisting hurting IS even more.
the event has nothing to do with the mach and everything to do with the teams and pilots on the clan side. Even post patch IS can and does dominate when played correctly.

Right now the IS is in the weakest position it has been in. Mechs overall response is slower, heat is higher, torso twisting is difficult, weapon quirk removal seriously nerfed the offensive potential of most mechs, and overall the range of IS mechs dropped.

The clans picked up armor and structure, better range, lower heat, duration, cooldown, more agility, etc. Clans have not been this strong since clan wave 2.

It seems like PGI nerfed the IS in preparation for the new weapons in July.

if anything the skill tree and the engien decouple + upcoming mixtech make any change irrelevant anyways.

I hope after newtech, PGI makes a Civil War which si exactly like Tukayyid so they have some comparison between the old event and the new one with the new techs to compare how this affected balance. But until the newtech the IS has pretty much gotten soem serious not ignore worthy nerfs.

This is a good point, that heavy gauss you guys are getting is going to be a monster.

Depends on the range, heavy gauss is probably going to be rarely used because it uses 11 crit slots and can't be combined with Light Fusion. Also too big to fit in an arm. Also weighs 18 goddamn tons. It's also an even bigger bomb in your ST that you can't crit pad with gauss ammo or heat sinks.

Any way you slice it, Heavy Gauss will need a big range boost to make up for the AC20's superior rate of fire, lower weight, compatibility with LFE and arm mounts, etc. On the tabletop the heavy gauss has almost as much range as a regular gauss rifle, but its damage drops off to 20 and 10 at medium/long ranges. We might see something like 300m but with the old gauss rifle's damage dropoff rate. I don't see the heavy gauss being as much of a game-changer as all the new PPCs and ultra-ACs.

True, would be hard to fit on some mech's and would be mostly restricted to arm mounts. Ac20 is definitely a IS powerhouse. But if your setting up for "one click" shots then it might be a good contender.

I have my founders atlas and I'm gonna keep the standard eng and throw it in the st just to see what it will do.

You know, I had my doubts about the skill tree...but even my Ebon Jaguar feels damn invincible! :D
