Kaemon - pronouced 'Kai-mon'

Played a text based game (monarchy) online in the late 90s with my best friend, he wanted to use Daemon but amazingly enough it was already taken, heh.

We spent a hilarious hour online trying to come up with names over ICQ (I still have the chat transcript) and finally he suggested Kae for me (which is obviously too short for most online games) so I added the mon, it's japanese based on the word kaeru (to change/alter/return, as in I return mofos to whence they came).

I've used the name ever since, he died last year after an accident at work, so I don't see changing it anytime soon (even though most people pronounce it 'K' and think I'm a woman, which my wife thinks is hysterical).

I'd like to see some people talk about why they trademarked their name, I see a few in forums on different games from time to time, and it's interesting to me.

Easy enough. Favorite band so much that I have a tattoo dedicated to them on my entire back (their dual F symbol worked in a way where it is bio-mechanical). They also inspired the table top unit I have "Litany Against Fear" (Dune reference as well) and the name for my Assassin (both custom and stock) "Archetype."

MIne isn't interesting at all. ^_^

Signature is like that, because I fight for Liao, like Shadow Hawks and that image seemed cool to me and my name is just a mutation of my real name, which I thought of, because of the name's origin in Rome (not the city, but country - J. Caesar).

Mine's fairly boring. My original handle was seeming juvenile, old, I don't know - just needed changing. This would be about 15 years ago I guess. I played Mechwarrior 2 and fell in love with Battletech and bought a number of tech readout books.

My first attempt was Marauder, but amazingly this was taken wherever it was I was trying to register. Marauder 2, Marauder2, MarauderII all failed. Finally settled on MarauderDeuce - in 15 years that handle hasn't been taken on any website so it's worked out quite well for me.

No motto, never felt the need although the closest I even came was For Pony! That was on a Neverwinter Nights server where I had a rather psychopathic undead. Ten points if you can pick the reference. ^_^

The Hyena. I believe 'Hyene' is the current terminology. Hyenne is Middle French or something.

Either way, the actual story there is waaaay to long.

Involving an inhouse joke, and my accuracy in FPS games. Stuck ever since. The SR is because I'm in the Skye Rangers.
If Guillotine is taken, I'll go as Guillocuda, which is a portmanteau of my gaming name and one of my favourite cars--the Plymouth Barracuda. Guillocuda is -never- taken, and if you google it, I'm the only thing that comes up. ^_^

Mchawkeye.

Hmmm. ~well, back in the early 90's, before the rise of the internet, my game handle was Hawkeye, after Donald Sutherland in M*A*S*H, probably one of the finest movies ever made.

So it had nothing to do with the book for which that MASH character was named... ^_^

Joseph Mallan was my first ever BatteTech character. I named him after a Superhero I had created. The character has a special place in nearly every game I play including D&D.

My sig... Is only a tribute to Joe's sense of humor which really developed while writing with the Battlecrops Legion. The Hesperus beef quote is a tribute to my brother. He shambled out of his bedroom one afternoon and scribbled it on a lil chalk board he had. It was there till the day he died 6 years ago. The 2nd quote is just a lil bit of humor that struck me as I was trying to come up with stupid puns!

Mushroom Man is my Real Life nickname. M94 has a personal meaning that I won't reveal. And no, it is not my birthday.

I'm a unix administrator, programmer, scripter, and power user in general. I love to "tweak" systems, go deep under the hood and edit config files by hand and such. I'm all about efficiency.

Applied to MWO, that means I'd be the kind of pilot who always likes to tweak his 'Mech controls, weapons and systems (thus the 'Mech under maintenance in my signature).

Tweaks = He tweaks a lot...

It's more a callsign than a name to me actually.

I have a red beard. And it has a cool "piratey" ring to it. I used Red Beard as my XBox Live gamertag when I played MechAssault, so it seemed only fitting that I resurrect Red Beard, especially since I was among the elite pilots.

The name comes from a great CD by Massive Attack. Also picked it because I like the word's association with hiding in the space between. I'm looking forward to "knife" fighting in the city streets and being overlooked in battle until the last possible moment.

Renegade is the name I've used online since 2000. I finally got a chance to snag it, so I did.

I might switch to using Herr Humorless, though. That's the nickname my Lyran mechwarrior got in our tabletop campaign, due to the fact he was the straight man of the merc company.

My nickname consists of 2 parts (doh), each with its own history.
The first one, the DF, stands for Daniel Ferel, which is the name I've been using in SciFi RPGs and the like since I was 8 or 9 years old. Daniel is my own first name, and the Ferel might be a misspelled Feral, tough I don't really remember, was far too long ago. Posted Image
I've been using that name for a lot of stuff since then. For example I released Doom 2, Heretic and Hexen maps under that name, back in the early days of the internets. Posted Image

The Delta part came a few years later, when the first Unreal was released, the first FPS that I remember to have played online.
Me and some friends had the idea to name ourselves after greek letters, and I've chosen Delta because it starts with a D, and I always liked how it sounds.
A year later, in Unreal Tounament, only one of my friends was left playing, but we still used the old names Omega and Delta, and we had a few favorite servers where we kicked *** on a regular basis.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, how did the DF and Delta become connected you might ask.

Well, about that time I got together with some dudes that happened to also play on my favorite server regularly, and we decided to tag ourselves. Thus the "Dominating Force" was born, (a rather silly name, but we were young and stupid) my name became -=|DF|Delta|=-. Our little association, it could not really be called a clan, had a few servers where we would meet 2 or 3 times a week to kick *** and chew bubblegum, tough we usually forgot to bring any gum, which just made us concentrate more on the kicking part.
That whole thing held together for a good 3 years, which might have been the greatest days of gaming I've ever experienced, but then suddenly one after the other dropped out or left, and in just 4 months the whole thing collapsed. One guy just disappeared, without any sign why, one moved together with his long term girlfriend who could no stand "those brutal games", so he had to stop playing them (lolz... sissy), and so on.
When we finally "disbanded" I did not want to lose the name that I've kept for so long now, and one of the other survivors pointed out that the initials of the nickname I'm using when I upload UT maps, and our "clan tag" are identical, so I could just change the meaning behind the DF. And so I did.

So DFDelta is a combination of a name I've been using in RPGs for a longer time then some of the people on this forum have lived, the first name I've ever used in an online FPS, and the tag of my very first clan.

My signature should be self explaining.
I'm a loyalist hardliner whenever I RP something in BT, and I like to show it. (And also she is the most awesome character in BT anyways, so thats not surprising :) )

I used to play in a gaming league for Laser quest. (I ran the original games centre in Bolton [England]).

Everyone else in the league was picking names like DEATH BRINGER or TERMINATOR etc etc I found it a bit pretentious so I went for the little bird in the snoopy cartoons.

As far as what it will be in the game ... my callsign

I made up my name back in 2000 or so when my brother purchased Anarchy Online. I needed a screen name, so I sat and thought of one. I wrote down letters that I liked the sound of (an 'o', a 'z', and an 'n'), then put them together. I finally decided on Orzorn. Its one of the most unique screen names I've ever seen, because I've only found ONE other person using this name for a character...in a 5 year old fan-fiction. That's it. So it is very nice that I've always got a name that will never be taken.

Mine's simple enough: Jacked "Firestorm" from the same-named pilot from good ol' MechCommander whom I took a liking to for whatever reason. And the 43 comes from a certain SPARTAN from the Halo novels (don't frag me; the books were actually pretty good) who shares the same first name as me (Will), and I just liked the guy's character. Thought he was somewhat like me, in fact.

My Forum name was take directly from the Battletech canon. Ardan Sortek was one of the first characters introduced in the Classic Battletech novel The Sword and the Dagger. Although the novel is notoriously ill written Ardan stuck around until the end of the Classic Series and became the longest lived character (not by age but by character span) in the stories. I did change the spelling slightly just to not take his actual name, but I felt that the best way to represent my love for these stories and the universe was through this long lived character.

Now my Sig was done by Hayden. This guy in my opinion has done the most in the way of community art by far. He created the Unit Emblem and 1st company Atlas command 'Mech paint scheme for my table top Mercenary Unit The Emerald Riders. He did my signature out of the kindness of his heart without me asking. I'm currently building a website for The Riders for MWO. I'm hoping to get a decent crew together and create our own in game Merc. Corp.
