Is There A Toxicity Issue?

One guy started off, before we'd dropped with "another drop another lose" and other demoralizing crap, then went under an on-ramp (on River City) and shutdown, leaving us a Linebacker down and basically losing us the match.
Another rolled a frikkin MAD-IIC and shutdown behind a building, leaving us an assault down and losing us the match.
This seems to be a theme to several games I've played recently, and I've not encountered it in anywhere near as much abundance as I have today.
Two questions:
1. Has anyone else noticed this, or have I just been lucky up until now?
2. Is there actually any proper repercussions from reporting a player? Just wondering if it's worth bothering.

If a player gets multiple reports PGI checks logged matches and sees what it is they are doing and decides on a penalty.

Generally they are polite and helpful. I have had one incident with a toxic player
in all the time I've been playing.

2) If enough people report him, or if they get enough over time or within a certain time, they will be suspended.

I've done it exactly 1 time where i purposefully dropped out of a QP match to jump into a group...I felt dirty. But there isn't enough of a penalty to keep me from doing it again. Just make the penalty last the duration of the previous game, that way people have no reason to quite.

You should have reported them for nonparticipation and with enough reports they would get a temp ban. Basically your entire team should have reported them because they probably do this in other matches too so it'll add up. The toxicity I usually see is raging tryhards in group queue like this dire I saw who raged about being left behind said we should stand and fight then stood somewhere with no cover and died which my friend then trolled him by saying he had been dead for hours and that he should stop haunting us and kept typing 2spooky4me in the team chat which just sent him down the rage path even harder. I think the guy ended up with multiple reports from that match because there were numerous people who told him they were reporting him.

In solo Q, MM pits randoms v randoms and i've never had a game where a team of lights & mediums were pitted against a team of heavies and assaults.
