there are too many ways to defend against LRM's to nerf them more would brake them. But I am curious about how you would change how they are implemented.
And indeed, when everyone equipped Radar Derp, they were even more broken. They were ABSOLUTELY not in a useable place before the ST, at least at a level of play where players reliably have modules.
I said it earlier, and I'll say it again:
LRM's where weak
before we had Radar Derp. People just got too used to crutching it up and ignoring LRM's. *shrugs* They're certainly not OP now; but at least they're not terrible.
But still, even standing in an open field with no defensive equipment, LRM's are the SLOWEST way to kill someone. They do little damage, spread that damage all over the mech, many missiles simply miss.... they have their place, though - they allow people to contribute damage when they're not right on the front lines (and even when close, you often CAN'T have everyone up front, there's just not enough room); they can disrupt an advancing team, pushing a couple players back into cover, and many other things. They're certainly usable now.
But still, if you're getting lurmed to death regularly, it's because you lack skills you really need to have: awareness, use of cover, balls to push LRM boats.
