To be fair, they kinda had little choice on how to split it. If they put the omni-beyond one model-into the reinforcement slots, then you'd have people complaining about having to pay for more than one set of omnipods, due to that standard little messup of having to wait for a C-Bill release for some omnipods.

Is it crappy? Yes. But I'd view it as making the best of a bad situation, at least, as far as they could.

I have many Mechs from previous packs that I don't use, and never really wanted in the first place. Now that the Rule of Three is dead, I'm not going to buy 5 to 6 Mechs for the 2 to 3 I might want anymore. This gated group purchase system is just too preposterous now!

If your your sales strategy doesn't change then I am quite certain my wallet will remain closed. Also add a Shopping Cart system someway somehow, because I really found it annoying having to deal with your piecemeal ordering triggering credit card fraud protection on all my past orders! So wait for c-bill/MC versions. ;)

....I don't understand the selection of the Osiris.

If a light 'mech for IS was on the docket, things with much more reasonable weapons loads/hardpoint potential are available- heck, we could have even finally got an IS omni such as the Raptor or Owens.

Is this something to do with popularity in MW4? Was there a poll I never saw? Can anyone explain?

The other 'mechs I at least understand (though I'm still wondering where the Turkina is for the Clans).

A very vocal minority of MW4 player campaigned for it. Posted Image

I'd say it was player power but it was more hijacking.

Yeah, they should just sell each variant Individually for like $10 each, or $15 for the hero, maybe $12 for the special and any pre-order gets the pre-order bonuses.

Actually, you have the mindset of a freeloader. If you want to play for free, then just play and save your C-BILLS until the Mechs are out for C-Bills. Also, people have been saying R.I.P. MWO since beta and it is almost 6 years later.

A solo hero for $15... good luck with that one. Posted Image

Edit: Nm you were replying to someone. ;)

Good job on putting *both* battlemech variants of the Arctic Wolf into the reinforcements. You can keep those omnis. I'll wait for the cBill release.

Actually its very sensible - if the omni were in the reinforcements you couldn't get more omnipods until the mechs c-bill release.

This way you can change omnipods to your hearts content.

so PGI is pulling in a Nightstar hero.
a mech that was used by Tancred Sandoval in the Civil War, a person that had a big role in the war.

and we get a hero mech from ANOTHER DRAGOON that had no role in the war?
why PGI, why?

srsly. fix it PGI and give us the FITTING HERO MECH to this whole update!

Ehm, dude. They explained that bit and the reason why. Well kinda.. Seems the hero pattern dictated the hero coice. I would too see they cram in as much correct lore as possible, Tancred? Gotta read up on that lore bit.

https://mwomercs.com...escalation-faq/

Q: The Nightstar Wolf Phoenix Hero Pattern appears to be inspired by Shelly Brubaker and the Wolf's Dragoons, but her Nightstar used Clan Weaponry. Why doesn't this variant run Clan weaponry?
While the Pattern for the Nightstar Hero is inspired by Shelly Brubaker and the Wolf's Dragoons, mixed tech is not currently an aspect of MechWarrior Online. For that reason we chose to create a unique build for this Nightstar Hero, while still maintaining the connection with Brubaker and the Dragoon's.

you dont even get my point which had nothing to do with mix tech but solely beeing in the FCCW era now where dragoons had no business in while another hero mech certainly had alot to do with which we dont get.

It's just nice to see the Nightstar get some love. it's one of the most iconic Tabletop IS Assault Mechs, and this'll be the first MW title to have it. mean, granted, it's already a pinpoint meta-build from the get-go, but that's not its fault.

should make the Halloween event realllll interesting.

Reason why PGI's usually in my good books. they've given a fair number of Mechs no one even knows outside of Tabletop sourcebooks/novels a chance to actually hit the field, like the Cataphract, for instance.

Would also be nice to see a few of the MW2 Mercs IS mechs that only ever showed up on that title, like the Sentinel or Rakshasa.

Pretty sure the Blood Asp is on its way, Sarge. give it time. next pack'll probably have another Clan Assault in it, given there hasn't been a Civil War pack with one yet: so far, 1 Medium each, 1 Light each, 2 IS Assaults, 1 clan Assault, 1 Clan heavy.

Stands to reason the next one should probably give the Clanners another Assault as the Blood Asp, and IS a Heavy which could easily be the Rakshasa or Avatar. Would be interesting if they gave some of the not-seen in MW games Clan Mediums a day in the limelight, like the Pouncer, plus if they did go with the Avatar, the Raptor would be a great companion, as they'd be the two first released IS Omnis.

Seems like everyone is fine with PGI simply monetizing. So be it, enjoy the new mechs without any new content.

Personally I'm going to wait for some new playable content rather than new mech's that PGI will nerf after I buy them.
. Hey dude, you ever stop and think that the new mechs are kind of like new content. Plus you don't have to buy them, just keep your pennies in your pocket homie.

Tancred Sandoval was Victor's most important supporter in the FedSuns-part of the FedCom, heir to the Draconis March and the Duchy of Robinson. He was also CO of the 2nd Robinson Rangers, who sport quite a nice colour scheme (at least a lot nicer than "dusty gray" of the Dragoon's Delta Regiment...).
He piloted a Nightstar for most of the war until it was destroyed on New Avalon in the final battles. It was a stock NSR-9J, but then most heroes in MWO are given non-canon configurations, so that really does not stop PGI.

That makes no sense. They are presenting a "Civil War Escalation"-pack, not a "something that happened years before the Civil War"-pack. So logically one of the single most important characters of the Civil War should be the first choice, not someone who was not involved at all.

I was quoting someone who claimed PGI never adds anything that doesn't make them money. My reply was meant to be sarcastic, as the Skill Tree doesn't make PGI money.

@FLG: Well, to be fair, as i said, they had to skip over that time, and that was due to the massive number of people clamoring for Civil War-era Tech. Also, I wouldn't really consider 4 years that long of a time in the grand scheme of a game universe that cover a good three centuries.

Also, it should be noted that around the FedCom Civil War, the Wolf's Dragoons actually had their own civil war within the unit, between Jaime Wolf and his Grandson Alpin Wolf's factions, due to really the whole reason of their existence having been to prepare the IS for the Clan Invasion, and not really having any close bonds besides that, which led to a fairly massive restructuring and integration of the unit after the smoke cleared.

Eh, it's probably more that the Osiris is the wonky little mech they know and love. Alex didn't need to change it much to make it fit in (something that'll likely also be true of the Argus when it shows up)

As others have said, if PGI wants people to continue to purchase old 'rule of three' mechpacks when the rule no longer applies, the early adopter/other pack rewards beyond the mechs themselves need to entice, not discourage purchases.
Colors/camos/CBills remain good incentives for some people, but the lack of premium time is a huge hit for everyone.

And those decals...ugh. Please tell me these aren't final. A unit of blood to make a bad pun? And the Osiris one has no connection to Egyptology whatsoever. Osiris was connected to the ram, not the horse. And to stretch it to the hero variant, Sekhmet was a lioness...again, not a horse-snake hybrid. The Nightstar decal is okay but it actually looks more Egyptian than the Osiris one. I have no idea what's going on with the medical symbols in the Nova Cat decal, but at least they got the hero variant's animal symbol correct. Of course, each pack comes with two decals but choosing to feature these on the sale page gives me less hope about the ones they decided to hide.

To reiterate, you've got to give us BETTER reasons to buy the mechpacks now that we don't need one-stop shopping for mastery anymore. Trying to incentivize collector/ultimate purchases with the (admittedly great) CBill/XP cockpit items won't work if people won't buy the basic packs in the first place.
