God no.

Going back to 8v8 would be an improvement. More players would make things even worse.

The 24 v. 24 comment was mostly in jest guys. 8v8 was a thing, has been announced already for the comp arena, so it's not new.

24 v. 24 could be interesting on the excessively large maps (alpine, polar) for incursion, because you could leave a meaningful force behind to defend, and attack with strength. Would require far more coordination than a pug drop. But yeah, it would mostly be awful. Therefore, pgi might be considering it. ;)

Well you see, here's the thing with single heat sinks.

YOU DON'T F***ING FIRE ALL YOUR WEAPONS ALL AT THE SAME TIME~!

There's this old thing which some people seem to have forgotten here, it's called, "trigger control" and firing the right weapon at the right time.

No, you are just acting pompous like you're some kind of master tactician who has mastered FPS combt with the patience of a Zen monk.

Single Heatsinks dissipated heat so slowly that it didn't matter if you fired your weapons all at once or throughout a 10 second window - you still overheated rapidly. You could bring only a single PPC and overheat from it because it generated 10 heat every shot, 2.5 times every 10 seconds, but your mech can only dissipate 10 hps.

A very common occurrence in Beta was to be armed with an AC/20 and lasers, fire your weapons once upon closing, then get into a never-ending circle-dance waiting for your heat to drop so you can use your autocannon again because the heat was too high to even consider using your lasers at all. The RoF for an AC/20 was heat-determined, not recycle-dependent. So, your claim to simply "not-alpha" shows how out of touch you are.

Phalanx.

The artwork is made by Shimmering Sword (the guy behind the newest NuSeen redesigns, like the Warhammers and Marauders, you know?

I'm familiar with some of Shim's work, just not all of it.

My favorite piece being this beauty.

I'm just not as familiar with tanks and other vehicles as I am with mechs and dropships.

Back in like the December or January roundtable Russ said they were working on AI and DX12 support, so one of those is my guess. I would lean towards AI, since they've been making so many updates to the private game lobby.

... SAVING LOADOUT CONFIGURATIONS!!!
...nah, nevermind.

You do know that restoring a mech to a saved Load-out would for sure incur a C-Bill charge right?

If I had to buy more equipment or shuffle structure/armor/Artemis. Yes. Otherwise, no.

I would pay an MC price to get loadout save points.

Best guess so far. I'm going with first person mechbay!

You know, the more I think about it, the more It feels like they will go with a brand new, never before seen, non-cannon Clan mech..

They did the Roughneck for IS..

They might do a PGI-original Clan mech now..

Wouldn't put it past them..

But a boy is allowed to dream big about porting to Unreal Engine and huge procedurally generated maps..

I like your thinking! Engine port would be beautiful!

It seems to me an engine change
1) Would not really be called a feature
2) Is unlikely. Changing a working's game engine is usually extremely difficult and of dubious use. The idea that switching a different engine would suddenly fix all existing problems without introducing new ones (aside from the massive amount fo work reimplementing every feature you ever did in the new engine) is naive.

The only reason I wouldn't discount it comletely is that they are actually working on Mechwarrior 5, and so they kinda have to reimplement stuff anyway. But I doubt they'd be in a position to release that soon.

Didn't Russ also say it was somethnig they hadn't done before? That should rule out maps or mechs, really, because those have been done before.

What haven't they done before? (Aside from sarcastic options, like "Balancing")
AI could be something, but it seems to me the AI stuff is something for Mechwarrior 5. It seems a good way to avoid cannibalizing between the games is having one a pure multiplayer game, and the other a pure single player game.

So, I don't know.

OMG.. I know what they have not done before..

PVE SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN! Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

But like you said, that would take away from MW5..

What else have they never done before?

Hmm.. would not take Russ's words too literally, he also calls hero mechs "new and exciting content", so I'd take his words with a grain of salt (pun intended)..

Just a grain? Try a sea-going super tanker's worth of salt.

PvE
Quads
Another mech pack model

Those are my guesses.

You're not thinking like PGI. They'll pay off a writer in a two week rush job and make their own "canon" Assault mech: BRB-PG1 Bareback or a PGI Light P1GG-1E Rubberneck

Maybe THUNDER and SWARM amo for LRMs to bring the annoyance factor on a brand new level followed by obstacle reduction on all maps to improve the sniping and LRMing experience

Co-Op PVE would keep MWO multiplayer only, and avoid the issue of cannibalizing. AI development for MW5 may even make this more of a possibility the more I think about it. I can dream right? Posted Image
