Co-Op PVE would keep MWO multiplayer only, and avoid the issue of cannibalizing. AI development for MW5 may even make this more of a possibility the more I think about it. I can dream right? Posted Image

Thinking the same thing.. although if a PVE campaign is made, I hope one won't be forced to get the same several people into a group every time, cose' getting my D&D group around a table twice a month is hard enough.. now imagine making it daily..

Let me finish it solo.. It would not take away from the PVP..

I have no good guesses as to what it might be, but I highly doubt it'll be moving MWO to a new engine, as that is a HUGE task for (arguably) not much reward.
I hope it's not something like first person mechbay, that would add nothing to the gameplay.

Thinking about it, I guess we can rule out an engine change because it is no "feature" or am I mistaken?

But it would do loads for immersion.. and that makes "gameplay" more enjoyable.

You know, not all "gameplay" is just shooting stuff.. stacking trophies in a trophy box, or walking around a holographic map of the Innersphere, or reading up on the Steiner Family tree and wasting hours on that is also gamplay.. Just ask any Skyrim player how many real-estates they have :P

Personally i hope its an Engine Move to Unreal4,

but this would also be amazing,

first off Mechbay
walking around your mech seeing its decals and scale full, taking it in as what it is a giant fighting robot,
perhaps have some simple lifts that can be activated(pretty much everything from the MW5:Mercs Trailer)
even some Mechanics in the background talking about Tech Things, Engine Power out puts and such,
an Over seer yelling at them to get back to work, when he notices they are getting off task,

Map of the InnerSphere
it could be an imported Database, like Sarna as its a wiki it should be free to use,
also you could have people do audio so when people can bring up a Large Laser we can hear a Tech talk about it,
Even to have community members submit read through of different Tech so PGI can add Variety to the Database,

I am reaching here, but maybe the reason we have not had any new maps for awhile is that they are making some specifically around some co-op scenarios where they can introduce AI and not have a lot of clutter on the maps to help with their pathing.

That's a good point. It would have said "change" instead.

Co-op is a good guess.

I would prefer first person mechbay though. There is a reason Star Citizen has this and not much else for so long and is still racking in the money.

If this had been Star Citizen for example, first person mechbay would have been in during beta. The sim improvement alone is worth it. Seeing the actual scale of these mechs that are the games center piece.

Since I first suggested this a good while back (like a year or two), and me and The Arisen then expanded the idea to the whole walk-in base, and other things PGI could sell for MC, I'm pretty sure I directly influenced the MW5 trailer Posted Image

The original idea included a complete base you can walk in, (basically a map in itself) with a mech bay that stores all your mechs one next to the other (and is expanded with extra rooms when you buy a mech bay, or a conveyor belt robot that rotates your mechs to switch through all of them like in the Volkswagen factory), and it also featured a console that let's you edit the mech, and a feature that lets you climb into an actual mech, like in the academy, and walk it outside of the mechbay for testing.

Who would not like that? Wouldn't it do wonders for immersion? But noooo, instead, we just get tabs.. ughh..

When I saw it first in the MW5 trailer, I was like "OMG, they totally took my idea and put it in another game!" I was kinda sad they didn't announce it for MWO, but it's still great to see it in MW5.. hope they keep it in-game and not just in the promos..

EDIT:

SO I just went back and watched the MW5 trailer again, and I noticed the pilot models for the MW5 trailer and MWO are the same.. so they do share resources alot.. It makes me feel like they might actually port MWO to Unreal4 engine.. it makes it likely they share back and forth.. It just feels like the announcement's gonna be related to something from MW5..

That's it call your Mom down stairs to the basement and tell her you need a break from the computer.

Although if I can get my character out of the mech, then yes dance emotes! :)

I would really like to be able to save and load loadouts and skill tree sets. Being able to quickly switch between QP, FP, and 1v1 builds would be nice. Also let us build, share, and transfer to the game via an official mobile friendly smurfy like mechlab website.

Couple of notes on the thread.

Re: quad hull elevation. Given the idea to add throttle control to 'a' and 'd' for diagonal movement, hull down could be achieved by engaging and holding 'a' and 'd' simultaneously to increase the horizontal distance between its feet and thus lowering the hull. (It took me a while to decide how to avoid saying 'spread the mech's legs apart.')

Re: what I want to see as the new feature. Incorporate switchable ammo AND inferno missiles.

I think we all know that it's going to be something where most players will think "Oh, that's neat, I guess."
but not a feature that the game actually needs.

HATS!

Ok, why has there been no maps? Why is the maps listed in looking into the future part?

Because the new maps are being made in Unreal Engine 4 and we will be getting the port announcement at MechCon.

We will see if my instincts are right. Soon™

Yeah.. the only problem I see with this is that the maps are being made in Ureal 4 engine.. but for MW5.. not MWO ;-)

But yeah, I have a feeling an engine port might be the big announcement.. we can only hope for procedurally generated maps Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

What if they made and used the maps for both I won't complain. One game dedicated to offline mech stomping with story and lore. The other an e-sports pvp e-peen fest with potatoes and egos. At least it will look good and have a proper reply feature (see paragon)

Since the two games are centuries apart in the timeline, using the same maps would feel like a massive cheat to me.

Keep MW5 separate, make it what it should be - a story laden, rich, in-depth view into the Battletech setting.

I'm just say MWO has no lore so a map is a map lol and I wouldn't put it past a small company to reuse assets.
