But you do have replay, IF hit state rewind actually functions. All the data that is needed for replay is already being accumulated and run back through constantly.

Because HSR doesn't log all the data (only mech positions), and it doesn't keep any of it more than 400ms.

Actually tracking ALL the match data is a very different proposition, and permanently logging it all is not a trivial task.

Of course the reason it "can't" be done is PGI related, but when you're talking about "can't" in this context you're talking about "It's not worth the cost to do it" in terms of development resources. HSR is already a computationally expensive system given the amount of weapon fire that happens, adding full logging of ALL the match data would dramatically increase those costs and add substantial server IO requirements.

HSR isn't doing everything that's needed. It's doing a tiny, tiny portion of it, and even there it's only functioning in very specific instances.

When a system has been designed from the start to do that, it's no big deal. However, the system we have was not created with that in mind. Adding it after the fact can be significantly more difficult. Thus, my understanding of PGI's position here is that they "can't" do it in that it would require substantial work on the engine itself, and therefore is not worth doing until an engine upgrade happens (otherwise they'd be doing that work twice).

Yep, like the few others who have said, I'm going with IS Omnis on this. This is the least amount of work on PGIs part to be a Major feature, that has never occured before. Plus it feeds their bottom line...mech packs.

Buy in for access to Solaris.

I simply don't believe they can't figure out how to do replay.

I'm fine with buying regular maps.

That way we could get maps of Terra and other specific environments.

Fighting over the Pyramids, based off the Terra book when WOB attacks ComStar? Sure. That'll do pig. That'll do.

Mine too mine too. Guess that will be my new discussed topic at MechCon this year. I have a few ideas I have shared with the devs already that I need to get out on the forums. More ideas and feedback usually make ideas better and bigger.

Whatever it is I am sure it will underwhelm our lowest expectations. I mean last time they let us get hyped up on something new coming and it was just the Roughneck they created. Nothing wrong with that, but they really need to learn how to balance expectations.

Why would we get Solaris if we are getting the competitive mode in June?
Surely that is what that is.

If the last major announcement was the Mechwarrior 5 single player.
What about MWO being converted to the Unreal engine. That would be big news.
Union class dropships for Faction Play?
New factions added for selection?
Increased number of players per team?

I reckon I could go on with a few different ideas.

Seeing quads would be awesome.
Being able to play as an Elemental........ oh **** yes.
