Hello, there. I'm not often on the forums, but I've been playing for almost 4 years and I believe I have an idea of how the game story has gone over.

So I was thinking, why not put here my thoughts? Sure I'm not the only one who thinks the game has still soo much potential to go, while easily achieved.

1. Different ammo
Want variability and different customizations? Who needs quirks? Want to make a tier potato mech viable again? Just add different types of ammo, available for certain mechs only. eg. %Faster firing rate AC, %Weapon travel AC, %Less spread LBX, etc. You get the idea.

2. Omnipod set bonus
Yeah, I'm aware they added 8-piece omnipod bonuses for most clan mechs in a recent patch, but really? Even my nephew, who hasn't even born yet could've done a better job at this. Maybe a bonus ledger like in Diablo? 6 pieces give A, 7 Pieces give AA, 8 pieces give a super AAAA. I mean, you're still piloting a (in many cases) fixed eng, fixed masc, fixed ferro, fixed flamer, fixed BAP, etc. And all you get for 8 piece bonus is +2.5%xp? Yeah, no need to explain.

3. More equipment
Just like the Cyclops sensor enhance add-on, there are plenty of interesting ideas to keep adding to our existent mechs. This is real game content, and sooo easily achievable.

Here I'll quote Diablo again, what if those add-ons were like the little gems you could add to certain mechs' engines/head/legs/whatever. Keep in mind I'm talking about Equipment, not Weaponry! Idk... perhaps +X% heat loss, +X% mobility, +X% Speed, +100% MG RoF (lol), +%Friendly sensors, +%Friendly lock time, etc.
This would certainly aid in terms of adding variability to the game and specific role mechs

4. Drop wait!
Come on, really 70 queue seconds + 15 seconds dropship moving around + mech powering up + 5 mins walking into battle for every match, in which I sometimes get stomped in no more than 30 secs? I know there might be technical difficulties and still connecting players, but man, seriously.

This is a total no-go for (old and new) players who want to play a game and have fun with their limited time. PGI can't seriously have not addressed this with a solution up to date. I mean, what if they made the queue last total 30 seconds including dropship scene and drop and mech power up? That would improve our overall effective play time a lot...

5. Skill nodes
No need to explain that much. Totally a step in the right direction, nice move PGI. Just lots of work to do in order to make this perform better. Maybe 50% AMS RoF, 50% Hill Climb, 100% Capture Accel, etc... (Like at least to start even thinking about using those skills. Cause now they're just ridiculous)

6. Command wheel and taunts
E button for Taunts and Commander wheelchair are definitely a step in the right direction to making the in-game more interesting. But really, is that the best that can be done?

Commanding is so bugged you can't even order to move twice in like 5 minutes, command wheel is so crowded with stuff you can't even hit the right command while in battle. Maybe two different wheels, each one activated with one E tap? Like one tap to Thanks, Aff, Neg, the classic. Double tap E for the Command wheel?

Idk, but this really needs work to be done in order to make the in-game more diverse and exciting, especially for pugs.

7. Lights Jump Jets
I know TT and canon and stuff. But how is a Myst Linx JJ weighing the same of a Griffins' and lifting about the same? I totally think lighter mechs' JJ should weight 0.25t.

8. Map voting

So much to be done here. Just look at other games and how they do their map voting, easy as that. Also add old maps to the list, like old forest, old frozen city.

Keep in mind, every match I drop in that I really don't want to play nor enjoy are plain 15 lost minutes of time. An absolute downside for the game from a player's point of view.

9. Friendly targeting

Come on... I can target, see the loadout and health wireframe for an enemy partially undercovered 1000m away, but I can't see my friends loadout and health standing aside me? This is ridiculous. Would help a lot in-game to have that information regarding your lance/teammates. Maybe Shift+R for friendlies? I really mean it, come on, even MW2 had it...
This also is an easily achievable game content that would help a lot to make the game feel more like a game.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know some of my thoughts may differ from what tabletop canon, and I'm aware that some fans might think I'm crazy just for proposing it, but hey... is this a game or a TT/mech simulator? I personally feel MWO is much closer to a Mech simulator than to a game, it really lacks features/content that make it appealing to new/different players (No, new mech packs are not new features).

Notice that I'm not even mentioning the lack of:
New Maps
New Game Modes

Which are issues that, while (should be) a top priority for game devs, might require way more time/resources than the above-mentioned ones. IMO the ones I mention are way easier to develop/enhance, the material is just there already, just need a makeup.

Idk, let me know what u think people...

I think 5 might be a bit overkill for the skill tree, you don't want to create too much of a division between skilled and unskilled mechs, maybe slightly larger than their current amounts, or have more points needed for investment in return. Also as for 7 the mist lynx isn't that good of an example, being one of the mechs that can almost (relatively) fly, it can jump 66.44m with 6 jump jets compared to the griffin's 67.12, which can only be achieved with 7 jump jets, with a height of only 57.53 when equiped with 6 jump jets, though still arguably some classes of jump jets need altering (I reckon assaults are a bit more in need).

You really think that 50% total Hill Climb would create such a division between mechs? Imo it wouldn't, same for AMS rof 50% and others like Cap accel. (btw I don't mean 50% each skill point, I mean total)
But yeah what you address is correct regarding point 7, I think JJ's need a logical altering rather than just being based on the canon. 0,5 ton per JJ on a 50t Griffin while 2,0 ton on a 90t highlander perhaps would be a better example

My thoughts on these -

1. Different ammo
Doesn't need to be switchable, just more variation in what you can load. Not sure I support ammo limited to certain mechs, but I don't entirely not like the idea either.

2. Omnipod set bonus
I agree - would take it a step further though and make it a "stock" set bonus. Would be harder to have tiers on battlemechs, but it could be an all or nothing thing then they could update some of the worst stock loadouts or just give them cool bonuses.

3. More equipment
100% with this, also I think that this is how the skill node buffs should be implemented onto mechs. Upgraded 1 slot/xx tonnage computer, slightly heavier heat sinks, slightly heavier weapons, 1 slot/tonnage to hold the cool shot system, maybe some like gyros just taking slots, armor and structure replacing or just altering the function endo/ferro in the mech options and so on.
There should be a balancing cost to buffs.

4. Drop wait!
Don't have a big problem with this, kind of annoying but mostly because they never moved on from TDM and arena maps.

5. Skill nodes
See #3. Totally for as many and possibly even more powerful nodes as they want to add, so long as they have some sort of offsetting cost to balance them out. Specialized roles would be awesome.

6. Command wheel and taunts
Don't use it so I have no opinion. If if doesn't work well though, should be improved.
7. Lights Jump Jets
Lighter jets for light mech, doesn't bother me at all, they are already at such a disadvantage with just their available tonnage for everything else.

8. Map voting

100% for old maps. Don't care about the voting system, I just let it randomly (other people) choose the maps and mode since its really all about the same anyhow. TDM is TDM doesn't really matter which map, same applies for the base rush mode.

Might care more if the maps were 3-4 times larger and deathball tactic wasn't an option so it was more about strategic play of the modes objectives rather than just TDM, but if that were the case I'd probably still like random selection.

9. Friendly targeting

I honestly would see this being used primarily as a troll tool by a decent chunk of the playerbase and that's the only reason I don't support it.

Wouldn't that be reasoning from the exception instead of the rule?
The ability to know your friendly's loadout and health would give soo much positive gameplay features.

With everything else I pretty much agree. If only devs where to even read this thread :(

I am all for making cap acc better. I cant really justifiy selecting those nodes right now. I may build a wonky fast light mech with it for the laughs but you know you are picking questionable skill tree options at that point.

Also much like the idea of more equipment and possibly role specific stuff. Things that can surprise the enemy or leave mines or something. Upgraded computers aiding your team etc...

Oh and the Spider 5V would love lighter jump jets...... if there was actually anything else I could fit to the mech. More hardpoints for the 5V needs to happen!

The problem is that even though it would be minority, that minority is still stuck in matches with everyone else. I do agree that it would be nice, just that it would end up with more negative effect than positive.

OP,

you've suggested so much stuff that simply does not fit in MWO, (but works nice in Diablo), that one must ask oneself, what exactly do you think MWO is?

Cose' it aint' Diablo, nor COD, not Unreal Tounament..

I'm thinking that MWO might not be your "shtick".. maybe you should try some other game..

I mean you basically want MWO to be like an arcade role playing game, or like World of Warcraft.. what's next? A mount for your mech? A pet? Keybinds that make your mech wave and dance the jitterbug?

Please.. just...

No.
