For example: I have most of the resistance mechs. While PGI has bestowed upon me all sorts of HSP (edited) to master them all up, the reality however is that given the reduction in quirks and their stated intention to reduce them more, I see no reason to keep a bunch of mechs that are all essentially the same; or in fact worse in instances where a chassis has objectively less useful variants.
A more specific example: I plan to keep the Grasshopper 5P and 5H but am considering dumping the J and the N. I didn't play the N and J very much before ST, and I see nothing to suggest that they will suddenly be as effective as the P and H anytime in the future. Anything the former can do (with the exception of the J's ability to jump a little higher at the cost of 6 of the lowest hard points and run dual AMS) the latter can do better, so if I should want another Hopper for a "new tech" based build I'd just buy another P or H rather than use the J or N so why keep em?
I figure with all the redundancy just of the resistance mechs, I can probably free up 20-25 mech bays and with my new found fondness for clan mechs I am sorely tempted. The old standby of "don't sell mechs, ya never know what PGI will make into the next OP meta monster" doesn't seem to apply anymore (at least on the assumption that Chris Lowery's comments on balance are truth) so I just don't see a real good reason not to dump the redundant dross that some of these mechs have always been or have recently become.
