25% Of Your Player Base Evaporated... What Are You Doing About It?

I do think PGI can do a few things though. There needs to be an official hub for game mechanics and current values.
1. Explain how crits work in mwo
2. Explain how crit damage works
3. Explain how ecm works
4. Explain how uac jamming works
I've been here years and still don't really understand how some things work. Questions like:
1. How many ticks of damage per second do lasers do? and how it relates to crits.
2. Are the nodes for uac jam, crit receiving, etc multiplicative or additive?
Especially for new players I think this would be helpful. There are some great guides, but it would be nice to have a singular spot with the latest info. Some of the guides are years old and it's not obvious if they've been updated with new values.

So much this. Thank you for putting into words I can't.
I have spent more time on the forums since the ST release than I have in the game. Which is surprising since I really enjoy playing the Quickdraw, a new mech for me, but the game just isn't as much fun having to deal with the ST.
Maybe it's my favorite mech pre-ST isn't that much fun anymore. I have over 450 matches in my ENF-4R but I barely play it after the ST release because it just doesn't feel as fun to play. Overheats too fast so I spend more time waiting to cooldown than I do actually fighting. Anyway I redesign the build results in something I don't enjoy.
Regardless, the game just isn't the same since they released the skill tree. Which is good and bad because I'm getting other things done in my life, but I no longer look forward to playing MWO most days.
this is my problem. So many mechs I loved just are plain junk, they have zilch to bring to the table. they aren't even silly LOLBuilds. The whole dragon line comes to mind. I have all of them, I really enjoyed them and now they are terrible once again. All of them. Huginn was fun, not over powered at all, but a joy but its useless now. You can't even use the skill tree to make them even close to what they had with quirks. The quirks didn't make them over powered but they made them fun to play. Probably many other mechs I can't even think of in the same boat, mostly IS mechs.

Packing nothing but lasers has been the norm for a long time. ST didnt change that. That has always been part of the meta and will continue until they make a real heat scale.

People see small fluctuations in numbers and attribute it to one thing and one thing only - DOOOOOOOOM. Please don't get a job in data analysis.

While I certainly understand if people have more things to do being that the northern hemisphere is entering summer time. This was a misconception that I had too.
I'm not a big fan of having to choose 91 skills out of 240, and do think it could have been done with less SP and skills to choose. But this thought , that there is a "correct choice" and other choices are "wrong", is false. What "works" for me doesn't necessarily work for someone else. I prefer more mobility, so probably spend a few more points in agility than others - that's not 'wrong', it's the way I want to play the mech. Besides, does anyone really think having one less cooldown node on your mech vice the 'ideal' build is going to cripple your setup? Maybe I want to twist faster to spread the damage better and am willing to 'suffer' the 0.6% less cooldown.
The more I play with the skill tree, the more convinced I am there is no one 'perfect' build. Sure there's good builds and bad builds - just like there are good weapon setups and bad weapon setups, but there's a lot more 'gray' and a lot less 'black and white'. So experiment, pick one mech and get it to what you want. Make it play the way you want. It's probably fine.
PGI basically rolled back MWO. Mechs move slower, shoot slower, overheat faster, but have become more tankier. Everyone who complained about TTK (not me at all), should be positively orgasmic over these changes. Sure my favorite mech is worse than before the ST - but so is everyone else, get used to it or don't - it's a done deal. PGI made their decision, now we can make ours. Besides, I'm hoping the new weapons drop TTK down significantly, that's right I want to be able to kill mechs very quickly, maybe they will or maybe they won't. They've made it very clear to all of us over the years, that this is their game, not ours, they do not care what we "think", they will do whatever they want, whenever they want. Our choice is to play it using their rules or not.

That way they don't have to worry about somebody "out-mechlabbing" them. The fear is real... So is the driveling.
Hey watch it sonny, I'm one of the grizzled old dawgs.
And I love the skill tree.
Damn youngins.

Honestly Nova I think he was referring to the other people, a generalization if you will. There are other people out there, younger, who also hate the Skill Tree and are leaving because of it.

I think it was just an insult because he's immature and would rather try to tear people down instead of provide a reasonable, thought out response.

Probably was. Too much of a rage response however. Shouldn't target a group of people either....
cause there's always someone in there that doesn't fit the bill.

You know I have this exercise app on my phone that counts steps and they're having some event this month to get 200,000 steps. In it they list the number of participants. I've noticed that every day thousands of new people join the event.
I promise you, Season 12 will be higher than 25,000 by the end of the month.
So just to re-iterate my point. I wrote this about 8 hours ago. Since then the leaderboard has gone from 25,370 people to 25,624 people. About 250 more people than before.
Now I would be surprised if we hit population numbers that match last month. We hit peak numbers we haven't seen in a year. However, I don't think you should count the season numbers until it ends.
