That's the game now. Fair has nothing to do with it.

Before modules and three mech requirement was the c-bill sink.
Absent those elements PGI needs a new one.

That new sink is partial node respecs or additional mech purchases driven by substantial changes to game mechanics at intervals. Get used to this.

Well all this will do is drive more players away.

This game would be better if it was 3025 and even slower paced

My subjective opinion

I think a built in classic mode with stock builds would add a HUGE amount to the game and would absolutely have a player count to launch with.

But this has been said for like 5 years now.

You can do it in private matches. Stock mode. For free.

It's not enough people to populate a queue.

Probably. But I assume they did some sort of internal assessing and concluded that it would keep/attract more players than the old three mechs and their modules schema did. Meh. Damned if they do damned if they don't. I for one was fine with the old system but judging from most of the skills tree commentary I was in the minority. So based on that, it would seem that in at least this case PGI is actually doing something the majority wants.

While I do think that the skill tree was a better approach, the respec cost should ether be very low or non-existent.

Well... what do you all expect?

PGI does not really have a vested interest in this game anymore except milking for cash to develop Mechwarrior 5... if they can actually keep the license for so long, which might be doubtful.

Just look at things:

- each patch for the last couple of months brings nerfs
- each suggestion of the community is ignored
- the CEO dishes out blanket insults
- "balancing" is solely done on statistics... and now by the guy from marketing, who never really played the game.
- instead of fixing things, even those which worked earlier and having been broken in a patch (like the Nova arms), new cash content is published monthly
- Apparently no competent engine programmer is employed anymore. All new stuff is basically old stuff in a new mesh and textures.
- New concepts are not thoroughly tested. 2 weeks PTS before patch do not count as thorough testing. ED was a complete failure due to being completely convoluted and not goal oriented, ST took basically 2 attempts.

What is happening here is that this game is used to make maximum profit with minimum investment.... and it is really starting to show.

Much of this is too little too late. Many of the core game play changes like the skill tree should have been implemented years ago, also the chat system still feels like its from 1999. Look at how long it took just to get VOIP in a heavily team focused game.

The problem with the balancing is a lot of it feels all over the place, with large swings in changes instead of a gradual changes over time. The order at which certain changes were implemented is also inconsistent and not addressing underlining problems that have been there for years. I understand PGI is a company, but if they improved the core game play this would in turn bring in more profits, so all they are doing is hurting their bottom line. At this point though its too late and many people I imagine will be leaving.

Gee... I wonder why that is.

Could it, maybe, you know, have something to do with the fact that...

YOU DON'T GET C-BILLS FOR PLAYING IN PRIVATE~?!

Alright, I didn't want to use this, but you know that when you want to be sneaky you can shoot out the stadium lights with ACs, right? Fun. You can jump-LRM, jump-SRM, and even jump-small pulse guys just like the PPOMGFLD pros. Fun. You can drop in a match with a guy who says "This is literally my first game ever and I am going to screw up bigtime." Fun. You can jump on top of the giant cannons and shoot down from there. Fun. I dare you to try different things in the game even if they are probably not the meta, and you will have more fun.

As stock builds are wildly unbalanced you can't really pay out on them. I could farm stock mode for days. Play there's 3025 stock and 3050 stock and clan stock, etc.
