Well... what do you all expect?
PGI does not really have a vested interest in this game anymore except milking for cash to develop Mechwarrior 5... if they can actually keep the license for so long, which might be doubtful.
Just look at things:
- each patch for the last couple of months brings nerfs
- each suggestion of the community is ignored
- the CEO dishes out blanket insults
- "balancing" is solely done on statistics... and now by the guy from marketing, who never really played the game.
- instead of fixing things, even those which worked earlier and having been broken in a patch (like the Nova arms), new cash content is published monthly
- Apparently no competent engine programmer is employed anymore. All new stuff is basically old stuff in a new mesh and textures.
- New concepts are not thoroughly tested. 2 weeks PTS before patch do not count as thorough testing. ED was a complete failure due to being completely convoluted and not goal oriented, ST took basically 2 attempts.
What is happening here is that this game is used to make maximum profit with minimum investment.... and it is really starting to show.
Much of this is too little too late. Many of the core game play changes like the skill tree should have been implemented years ago, also the chat system still feels like its from 1999. Look at how long it took just to get VOIP in a heavily team focused game.
The problem with the balancing is a lot of it feels all over the place, with large swings in changes instead of a gradual changes over time. The order at which certain changes were implemented is also inconsistent and not addressing underlining problems that have been there for years. I understand PGI is a company, but if they improved the core game play this would in turn bring in more profits, so all they are doing is hurting their bottom line. At this point though its too late and many people I imagine will be leaving.
