I love any functionality that presents a "daily log in challenge" to players. Promotes activity, every day of the week.

I also love how many bad light pilots I've seen today. My 6x MPLas Huntsman has turned into a O-H-K-O DELETE button. A stationary light is a dead light. :3

Can't wait for the event to end. Having such fast teams seems to really enable stomps, which just isn't fun.

I've had a few good matches. I'll upload my favorite, though. I was less than happy that the enemy wasn't well practiced with lights, but the ending will surprise you.

Tough loss...I bet we'll see more of these thanks the the increase in time to kill brought on by the new skill trees and the rebalancing of weapons and quirks. They increased TTK, but didn't increase the number of resources required to win Conquest.

Dude, yes! I've been amazed at how efficiently these small disorganised packs of lights can tear up enemies. I've had more laugh-out-loud moments playing just today than I have in a long time.

And this is why the light mech is actually the most powerful mech on the battlefield. I honestly think that a 12 man team of lights could probably wipe the floor with a 12 man team of Assaults.

It has been good seeing more lights on the field. One drawback I have seen is that in some drops your team no longer becomes a team as it dissolves into a mass of blue dots all over the battlefield fighting their own way.

But yes, these challenges have created some entertaining games. The 500 damage guass challenge coming up this week is going to be interesting!

Cheers!

I call some of them Light Assault Mechs
seeing 1 light mech rip apart an Assault just speaks of the sad state of the game

What role do you see for light mechs in MWO, if they should generally lose to mediums, heavies, and assaults?

My experience beyond the ramming has been a lot of newb light mechs pilots running up right away and dying.

I will admit that I have been one of those pilots at least a couple of times. I hate light mechs. :(

Remember - if a light is trying to circle jerk you (or being smarter and trying to stay at your back) it is better to move in reverse, turning and twisting your torso to the fullest extent to give yourself maximum chance to keep that pesky light off your back.

Keeping an obstacle at your back also helps of course.

Lights can be dangerous be just remember to shoot their legs. Speed is life for lights so if they lose a leg they are dead.

Scouting, spotting, capping?

Lights obviously should be able to defend themselves, but seeing Commandos (or similarly well armored or well hitboxed lights) weaving through enemy formations, taking fire from multiple enemy mechs for 30s+ is pretty questionable. For the record I do the same thing in my Assassin and Panther.

A Locust or Arctic Cheetah is one thing. One mistake and you're dead because they simply don't have a lot of HP. Lights with big armor quirks are another thing. "Just leg them" is a nice way of shutting the conversation down without ever addressing small inconveniences like the fact that a Commando has only 10 more points of health in the CT than it does in the legs- and that's without splitting armor between front and rear.

I any case, I digress. Lights aren't better than mediums, heavies, or assaults- a forced meta where 1/3rd of the population are lights to finish a mission just makes it feel that way.

True, an interesting point. However I think I could have won outright if I was being more mindful towards the end.

It has been truely strange. I was running with some people in my unit last night and I recall cursing each time I did "too much" damage and got a killing blow instead of an assist. No one wanted the kills. Challenges bring out the oddest behaviour.

Do what ive been doing. Legging everything and leaving it to die.

My second match ever in a brand new firestarter was 6 assists...i legged every single one of the enemy arctic cheetas. Game before I legged a bunch of ECM ravens since they suck up close and just left them for some sporting assault to drill. Everyone loves shooting legged lights. lol

What you said before implies you want them worse than mediums, heavies, and assaults. As things stand though, scouting, spotting, and capping in MWO is rather pointless. This game might be based on battletech, but it's an arena shooter -- lights deserve a fair cbill return similar to any other mechs, and that comes from damage done.
