Faction Play Phase 4 link

"We've chosen to call this update Faction Play Phase 4.1, both to signal the start of a new development phase and to stress that this is only the first of future updates and improvements planned for Faction Play as we renew its focus in 2017."

Leaderboards: Faction Play and Quick Play Leaderboard placements now require a minimum of 10 matches played in the associated mode.
Faction Play: Invasion and Scouting pre-drop screens will now convey which side you are fighting on
Faction Play: The Planet History table will now use standard timestamps (ie. the year 2016, not 3051
Resetting Faction Play Leaderboards to coincide with Phase 4.1 release.
Increasing the Skirmish, Assault, Conquest, and Domination Faction Play Game Mode timers to 25 minutes (from 15).

Clan scouting dropped to 50 tons
The total amount of Intel in the Scouting Tug of War bar has been reduced to 200 (from 300).
The allotment of the five Invasion Stages along the Invasion Tug of War bar has been adjusted.
• All Invasion Stages are now evenly distributed along the Tug of War. As a result, a larger portion of battles throughout a Conflict will now take place in the four initial Invasion Stages.

Faction Play (Mercenary Career): Fixed a loophole whereby Mercenary Pilots could bypass intended Contract restrictions by hopping between sub-Units operated by the same over-arching Unit population or command structure, yet contracted to different Factions. For example, Unit ABC is Contracted to Liao, but operates sub-Units ABC1, ABC2, and ABC3, all of which are Contracted to different Factions. We are making these changes to address active 'gaming' of the Contract system.

What is the point of this, other than to point out that russ lies more than donald trump does?

Having it summarized periodically makes reading easier and this isn't a pointless FP pug whine thread (I am sure six more of those will show up shortly).

Game mode won't grow because PGI isn't investing to make it grow.

I think it's worth giving everyone a reality check every now and then.

It helps rational people make rational assessments about PGI's forward commitments.

im sorry, i just couldnt help making a russ/donald trump joke.

ssuuuuuppppppoooosssseeeddddly, theres another fw roundtable coming up next week...ish. and theyve been trying to hype (a little) fw things as coming after the civil war update. maybe they took my advice and are waiting to split the ques for interfaction events until after the inevitable population influx from new tech? thats the optimistic thought process.

or theyve done jack all, because apparently pgi can only do 2-3 things at a time, and each thing takes 4 months to do, and that was wasted used to do skill tree, comp, and incursion?

The last faction round table got nowhere. The 100000 page suggestion page got us less buckets and pub maps/formats incorporated into FW. This was to fix FP. Its now more broken then ever with 10 plus minute waits on average for us.

Not to mention the inbalance has continued to grow apart.

Why leave out the IS weight increase in FP and no change in Scout in Dec 2016?

Dec 13th, 2016 , less than a day after the patch PGI increased IS to 265 tonnes then 2 days later PGI dropped Clan tonnage, apparently the IS increase was not enough.

PGI historically does not piecemeal updates into CW, not since early phase 2. Usually its 6-9 months and then bam a larger patch.

Another way to interpret the clan tonnage reduction is "OK, we sold the bulk of all the Kodiak packs we're going to sell... we can now reduce the tonnage back to normal again"

To be fair, at the time ... the KDK-3 was so OP when compared to every other assault including other KDK variants that it was borderline silly. Unless the KDK-3 pilot was insane and wanted to dance at less than 270 meters with a fully armed Brawl Atlas the KDK-3 would win handily most engagements while retaining the bulk of its armor. The best counter to the KDK-3 was Clan Pop Tart Jump snipe ... which Obviously IS doesn't have either. Hence the tonnage restriction. This never really solved the issue as clan has very deep reserves of fantastic heavy mechs in the 60 to 75 tonne range plus incredibly strong light and medium mechs as well.
