Map Cycle?!

So...

The same maps to pick over and over again? ...

I mean, why is there such a huge difference in the map cycle? I almost
always getting the same maps to choose from in the solo and team QP queue...

1. Grim plexus... about 100%
2. Frozen ******
3. Polar sh.itlands
4. River City

After those are... nothing...then HPG, a few forest colony and fewer viridian...
and then?

THEN, like a 0.0005% chance come mining, caustic and others..but wait.. still
no canyon nor terra therma....maybe another 0.0002% lower chance to get them...

Why dont we get a balanced map cycle on wich every map has the same % chance to
make it on the pick up screen??

No... we always getting sniper, lrm or the icy alpha strikers heaven...

I'd also like to see all the old maps to be back into the game instead bringing
us new "maps" like this 5-minute-everyone-can-do-it-bulls.hit thing called
polar highlands. I made better maps in Warcraft 2 back in the 90's!

The old maps like Forest Colony with the tunnel, old Terra Therma, Caustic etc...
Just to have a BIT variety in the game!

Still see most of them on occasion, but yes almost every second game seems to be grim plexus or HPG, if frozen city or polar highlands get picked you can almost guarantee at least 4 LRM heavy builds will be in play, and/or a good number of PPC/erll heavy builds.

I am definitely in the boat that it needs to be randomised again, for quickplay especially, to encourage at least partially mixed loadouts by soloers, and to add to the feeling of a lack of control over ones environment in quickplaying, which in ways encourages teamplaying more (obviously if teamplay has the pick or ban options).

Meta picks the map. Maps being used over and over people move to the meta.


I wish they would go back to 100% random.

I think I'd be okay with random map selection coming back. I am definitely in favor of bringing back the old maps in addition to keeping the new versions. Easy way to increase the map selection while making the fans of the old maps happy again. I miss the old Terra Therma, Caustic Valley, Frozen City, and Forest Colony. PLEASE PGI, bring them back as they were without any changes! I'm ready to buy a bunch of mech packs if you reinstate the old maps.

I'll refuse to pick grim and even river city anymore if there is caustic/viridian/terra to choose. Me
and my unitmates just can't see that damn map anymore.

100% random needs to be back. I just dont even know why they changed it. Senseless.

This is the reason, why I don't play this game anymore. What the reason for having voting for maps in this game, if 4 maps for voting are forced on us anyway? Why some other players can pick their favorite maps and I can't? This is simply unfair.

I'm ok with map voting.

Gaming the multiplier increase system is a hoot when you get up to x8, wondering if the round in the chamber for this round of russian roulette has your name on it.

I'd be happy though, with varying XP bonuses for lower played maps - i.e. 10% for terra therma.

Yeah but then Terra Therma still has to show up in the voting screen... and this currently
occurs only once out of 20(?) Matches...

Yeah, that's an issue.

There needs to be more whammy rounds, where it's alpine, terra therma, caustic and maybe the bog.

Cause I can't see crap in maps such as Forest and Therma. Why should I choose to diminish my enjoyment of the game?

In old Frozen City tunnel was actually useful but now who needs it, who cares. PGI you can bury it and no one will even notice.

Now match on this map look's like this:
Faze 1 - Nascar ... omg ...
Faze 2 - Poke ... wake me up when you done ...
Faze 3 - Finally something is happening ... what ?! it's already over ?! ...
Faze 4 - Chase the last light ... yah, sure it was fun ...

In short: I WANT OLD FROZEN CITY BACK.

One more thing. Recently i have this feeling that all matches in all maps became so schematic. Always the same tactics, go here don't go there, nothing ever changes just endless loop of boringness... but it's probably just me.

Thats why 100% random...
No voting screen
No prefered maps (higher chance to get them) in the cycle.

Let the dice roll, see what it is and work with like it was before.

Of course nobody with a laser vomit build will pick the hottest map where they maybe need
to chainfire their lasers after the first one/two alphas..they'll never learn...
They pick, of course the "meta" maps for them, the coldest possible.

So do the snipers etc... and these are maps currently in the top5...

Nah, Old Frozen City was definitely not suitable for 12 v 12. Bring it back to 8v8 ranked mode, maybe

Not exactly. Players prefer clear and open maps with less visual obstructions first. Which is why Tourmaline Desert, despite being very hot, is a popular map to choose, compared to cooler Forest Colony. Only after that, does temperature is considered.

And what would be the difference? Same 4 forced maps would be in rotation, but without even illusion of choice since that moment? Just make 4 maps for voting purely random and also bring old maps and 8vs8 mode back - as simple, as that. Nothing else is needed.

server selects a random map, that will be played, end of story.

ok thats right, tourmaline is an exception... when it can be picked.

not all maps are good and add to that problem by not having enough maps to rotate around. Thats the weakness of this slot machine system. Id rather they just implement a prepicked maps so everyone gets what they want instead of the incursion/escort nightmare.

Wish we could vote on any map we wanted instead of a random 4 like it was in MW4:Mercs.

The main thing is that we need more maps.

However. Game mode voting could be increased to 3-4 modes to pick and subset of 2 variations of each mode. For example Incursion could have symmetrical and asymmetrical variations. Domination could have stationary center point or a mode variation for one domination circel moving around the map with 5 min intervals or something.
