The missile types are neatly broken up by type of weapon, nice and easy to read. On the other hand, the energy and ballistics are all over the place because of prefixes.

I would suggest renaming weapons like this:

PPC
PPC ER
PPC HEAVY
PPC LIGHT
PPC SNUB-NOSE

LASER SMALL
LASER SMALL ER
LASER MEDIUM
LASER MEDIUM ER
LASER LARGE
LASER LARGE ER

MACHINE GUN
MACHINE GUN HEAVY
MACHINE GUN LIGHT

etc.


Thoughts? (I know that isn't lore friendly)

I would like a cleaner weapon list, too.

I would probably keep ER at the start of the weapon name, because I think it makes sense that the ER Lasers stay in a group, just as the pulse and regular lasers do.

Instead of renaming them, they could also just give them an additional, invisible sort key for each item in the list so that logical groupings appear, even if the names aren't so grouped. That might not be ideal, though, since it might confuse people and make it more difficult to find a weapon if you only remember its name and have no clue about the groups they should belong to.

I don't care for Lorefriendly but that way they are in a better order.
Only problem are ACs it would still be

Good call, that is goofy. The default view could be arranged logically, then if someone sorts the list it would revert back into alphabetical (or whatever column they sort by).

What about haveing subgroups that can be folded out or in like its currently with balistics, energie and missiles.

So when you open Missiles you see the different subfolders LRM, MRM, SRM and RL.
Selecting them will open all the options of that subfolder.

Sure its some more clicks but would help the overview too I think.

Lets say I don't want to see the full list of weapons, just LRM and Pulselaser. I could have all of the option on screen without scrolling.

PS: Invisible sorting markers / Metadata as metioned above would be ideal for sorting lists that aren't conform with alphabetical sorting.

Yes, that would be downright handy!!

When I am loading up I know what weapon I want, that would speed things up.

There are actually sorting algorithms (or rather, compare functions/methods) that will grab the whole number and compare it as such, rather than going digit by digit. Of course, whether it's worth the effort..

Wow, the patch just reordered a lot of the wepons!!

There are a few wepons are not grouped right (gauss rifle, machine gun, PPC, ER PPC), but it's WAY better!!!!
