What Is Mechs Are You Now Buying Due To New Tech?

Ghillie- probably the single best candidate for stealth armor.
CP-11-P- stealth goose
STK-3FB- stealth boat
MAL-2P- Dual UAC20
Sleipnir- Dual LB20X or HGauss if it turns out alright.
Panther- snub nose
There are a lot of mechs stuck with STD engines that will just get a straight upgrade to LFE but I wouldn't say that's opening up any new doors, just optimizing them a bit.
Otherwise most of the mechs I really want to play but sort of suck- Highlanders, Stalkers- have icky low engine caps and lack slots, so you don't really have the ability to even take advantage of LFEs.

That's a matter of LFE almost always being superior to STD engines (that's not a hard bar to climb). Then again, Clan XL is superior to the alternatives (IS XL, STD, LFE).
Yep!
At least, with new tech I could pilot mechs that.... I cannot even remember when it was the last time I took them for a ride

I bought a Sleipnir and loaded heavy gauss and heavy PPC
ended up getting my butt kicked between the long recharge cycles
in between firings you can get stomped pretty quick

Is that proper though? I bought the King C 000. And with ultras 20s its, stupid(i think i effed up and should have bought the 0000)
I keep taking it out to make sure i'm not dreaming, but yeah, its friggin good.
But again, this isn't fair....this is 4v4 and can be lop sided AF....12v12 i dunno if i'll even get to the fight. But it has a double tap 90 alpha...

Yeah, I tried it with both HGauss and LB20X.
Didn't do as well with HGauss, but if it's buffed it's interesting to me. Dual LB20X is a pretty sure bet though and I doubt it'll change before CW goes live.

In particular, I think that the Whammer stands poise to become quite a bit more powerful, and an even more ubiquitous mech than it already is. Twin UAC10s, hex ERMLS, and a sizable LFE is what I'm thinking of.
On a tangential note, RL20x4 Locust anyone? 140 damage at a drop of a hat at 140 kph sounds amusing indeed

I was thinking about that, but I think that if they become actually good they'll just have their quirks toned back until they're floating at the balance point their hardpoints and hitboxes give them naturally- bad.
Basically everything has gone in favor of the Cataphract recently- which is pretty much how it has to be for it to overcome the hardpoint locations and barn door syndrome. The potential for the Cataphract to be good, like the Dragon, basically exists only when the stars align and their quirks and hardpoints align with general weapon balance and pub meta to overcome the terrible hitboxes and hardpoint locations. Take any of those things away and they tumble down into the crevasse of bad variants.
By comparison, even if the MAL-2P has its UAC jam chance quirks toned back, or UAC20 takes a ghost heat penalty, it's still totally adaptable to LB20X/AC20/UAC10/Gauss/HGauss etc. because its hitboxes are passable, it's hardpoints have good convergence, and it doesn't really rely upon too many quirks- it can really only be nerfed to mid tier, while the Cataphract can be nerfed to **** tier.
Not that I expect it, but there's more of an inherent risk to a mech like the Cataphract, making them "wait and see" sort of mechs.

CP-11-P - Been wanting it for a while but couldn't really find a build I liked so I have refrained from buying it but now that LFE's are a thing, I have come up with some great builds for it on PTS.
BNC-3S - Pretty much for the same reason as the CP-11-P. Didn't really see a build I liked until LFEs came along.
QKD-4H - Sold off all my QDs a long time ago when PGI nerfed JJs into the dirt. However they have changed quite a bit since then including the rescale that made them smaller. With the new tech, well I tested a few builds that made me thinking owning one again might be a good thing.
Other than that, I got pretty much every mech I want that is currently available for C-bills.

I dropped 3 of the other team and it was me and this...griffin pilot that....well...anyway i was already ct crit by the time i got to the urbie and i blew off his right arm..then the bugger took my core to red, and seeing as how i had the griffin there i was like, eff this i'm out!
Nope....urbie managed ot drop me from the back(heh heh).
But heres the thing, the urbie only had 3 small pulse left....I dunno how he took down both me and a griffin and scored +700dmg with 3 kills!
