Buy her a mech pack, but buy it on your account so you can use it once she leaves Posted Image

Ugh. That cobra neck kind of ruins the Annihilator. It's the catapult VCR syndrome all over again with unnecessary, uncanon tacked on weapon spots. I wish PGI had never come up with their stupid missile hero annihilator given the missile mounts for that have now aesthetically screwed up all the other variants as well.

Thinking of cancelling my preorder for this thing, the first time I've been tempted to do that since the Enforcer with its horrid head.

On the other hand, the cougar, uziel and Mad Cat II all look fantastic.

it seems to have that cobra neck in nearly all the artwork i've seen. i don't think it looks that way just to accommodate the hero variant.

I have mixed feelings on the sizing. I really expected the Uziel to be a bit shorter and more squat. Those long spindly legs look kind of rickety but I guess the lack of mass there is going to make them difficult to hit. I lobbied hard for the Uziel to be put into MWLL too and when it went in I was shocked at how tall it was there too. It did not turn out to be a good Mech in MWLL. I hope it is better in MWO. On the plus side, it does not present as large a frontal target as it could have so there is hope. A lot will depend on hitboxes and any structure/armor quirks it may get.

On the other hand, the Cougar and the Mad Cat MKII look perfect IMO.

Why is it that every IS mech has to be bigger than equivalent tonned Clan mechs?

The resizing a year ago was a terrible mistake, they really don't need to keep repeating it on us.

Anyone else feel like the annihilator is scaled to big? Side profile is huge and those arms are low. Hmmmm...

Definitely like the clan mechs more than the IS mech this release.

I hate being "that guy" and I'm only gonna bring it up once, then never care about it...

Was the volumetric scaling used with this group of mechs? The Timby 2, and especially the Annih both look like they have significantly more bulk than their similarly tonned counterparts... Maybe it's just how the bulk is distributed, I dunno...

I don't really care all that much, it's just something that looks odd. ^^;

Don't get me wrong, I love the design, mechs look great <3 Just, maybe a scoche too big?

Yup, hate it. They would look fantastic as part of the torsos but instead it looks like tumor growing off its neck.

They could have shown the Uziel with the Huntsman and I think It would have been a better comparison. The Nova is low and wide. Most people on here seem to be only able to see size in one dimension (two at the most), that being height or the view just from the front.

Yeah, they showed the Uziel with two short mechs for comparison.... A Centurion, or Hunchy would have been better... But, the Uziel is kind of a weirdly proportioned mech to begin with... I'd say the MWO Uziel is pretty much perfect... and that leg animation <3

I grant you the loadout possibilities for this mech are amazing. But it remains to be seem how fun an experience it is to wrestle a slow, unmaneuverable mech with poor hitboxes and low slung weapons.

The idea is to put yourself in the situation where those things don't matter. Similar to a Dire. I mean with any slow gunboat there is always a down side. There is also upside. You may find yourself the first one dead but have the highest damage on your team by the end of the match...

In fact I'm going to play the Dire/Mauler a bit more this weekend, so I'm ready.

Why does everyone not seem to remember you can load a 300 engine in the Annihi? o.o I mean, 52kph is still kinda slow, but, that's the typical speed for a 100 ton mech, exempting the Kodiak. It's not gonna be any slower, or less maneuverable than a Dire Wolf. And, if you stick with a Standard 300, it will make for a half-decent zombie mech with head, and center torso hardpoints depending on variant...

The stock Annihi has single heatsinks, no endo, no ferro, no light/xl engine (obviously you'd never wanna throw an XL in that thing, but a LFE could work reasonably, provided you don't wanna Fafnir it) Changing any of these restrictions will net you the ability to put a big engine in, without compromising firepower.

Granted, the arm hardpoints are gonna feel like they're dragging ont he ground... but the torso ones actually don't look so bad. And for anyone with experience playing a Koala (Executioner) the low arms won't be THAT bad....

Wow, that frontal profile actually looks... good. Taller, skinnier, non-square hitboxes are generally far more desirable than squat and wide ones, and the Annihilator certainly looks to deliver in that department. Who cares if someone aims for the periscope - they're far more likely to miss that or dump laser ticks out the sides, leaving that... surprisingly well proportioned torso alone.

Ha, I was counting on only piloting the Annihilator though nostalgia and a desire to drive non-conforming mechs, but this might actually be far less painful than I was anticipating it to be. Sure, there are far more pixels available to perforate from the side, but who cares. With all those dakka projectors, you'll want to look disdainfully down on whoever you're firing at anyway.

as much as I like the Annihilator the head is going to be way over the hill before you can even think about firing a signal weapon. I think an average piolet could shoot this guy in the head. maybe drop it down just a bit.

So don't crest hills... Walk around corners instead :P

Get a moment like in the MW3 intro... when the mech strolls up, and suddenly... ATLAS

Use that head as a periscope. If they are looking your way back up. If they are not then step forward and get their attention.

Ok, so I sprang for the collector Cougar, and I absolutely love it. Save for one teensie detail. Why aren't the LPLs on the correct hardpoint? Will they be correct by release?
