I am somewhat happy with a 2xRAC2 3P build. While it has only a .55 KDR so far, I'm also only 2/7's of the way through the skill tree. While it may not be particularly effective (I do much better in a Cent AH), it is fun fun fun 'til the RACs get jammed up.

With the mobility buff and slight structure buff, for me the 3S(S) is back where it was in July, just about. I'm still running the same load out as in my post on page 1. I'm also skilling up a 2S with two LMG, MRM10, LFE 285, 2xERML, SnPPC, 6 JJ from zero and have 30 nodes checked.

Verdict: Still über-fragile. But better than it was after the hitbox adjustment, and about where it was at release for me. You need durability tree bad and to stay out of enemy firing lanes worse. Speed is life, 90+ kph or bust, and you need as many jets as you can stuff in. Why? Because Uziel drivers have to think in all six degrees of freedom. Escapes can be made vertically and you need to do that when cornered.

I'm driving my Uziels again after the patch; the hitbox changes had me running anything else, but the durability buff was just what the doctor ordered. It needs a reduction in scale to 3/4 it's current size, and an armor boost proportional to the structure boost. Then it'd be a nasty little trooper in line with its reputation. Resize is not likely to happen but armor buffs are possible. But I'm very grateful for the help it got, as that makes it useable for me again, at least. I still like them. They're my favorite mediums and the only mediums in which I have over 100 drops in a particular variant.

I have found good success with a three large laser and single ER Medium laser. I have a light 255 engine in mine (I believe) and max jump. Of course, this is the same exact build I have had on my Crabs for an even longer time, so it's a build that has proven it's worth on another chassis. However, unlike the Crab, this mech is better at the jump shooting or poking aspects, where as the Crabs can do a bit of tanking and brawling if the situation requires of it.

Overall, if you don't utilize the JJs of the Uziel, than go for Crabs. It really needs that jump to survive and get an advantage on people. (Unless of course you use the missile or ballistic options.)

Only other build I had moderate success with was a light 250/255 engine with a triple LPPC and AC5... but that just barely qualified as "successful" in my opinion. Been trying to toy around with Snub Nosed PPCs and seeing if I can get better results... Needs more testing on that.

I've been using 3xUAC2s with a 225LFE for enough ammo. Of course it's on the variant with UAC quirks. It's strangely good. You have good range and the projectile speed makes it easy to aim. Definitely good for harassing from distant corners. Wouldn't recommend facing people down. But I've found it to be fun. Also UAC2s sound like staplers to me

I tried to build Jacob Kincaid's UZL-2S. It's theoretically possible on a 3P. The load out supposedly is 250XL, LFF (8tons), Rotary5x2/3 tons, SRM 6/1 ton, 2xERSL, 6JJ (it's supposed to be a 2S with only the arm weapons replaced).

It can be mostly done but you have to lose four jets and you can't do eight tons of LFF so you're slow and really fragile. But it's possible.

I've found some success with these 3P builds that allow max armor.

1) 285LFE, 2xERLL, MRM10/1 ton, 3xLMG/1 ton, 6 JJ

2) 265LFE, uAC5/2 tons, 2xHMG/1 ton, MRM10/1 ton, 2xERSL, 6 JJ

3) 250LFE, rAC5/2 tons, 2xHMG 1.5 tons, MRM10/ 1.5 tons, 2xERSL, 6 JJ

On the 2S I settled with 285 LFE, 2xHMG/1.5 ton, MRM10/1 ton, 2xML, SnPPC, 6 JJ. I have it mastered now and I'm working on the 3P. Haven't decided if I'm going to get either of the reinforcement mechs after they drop for Cbills. I don't like the Belial so I won't be getting one of those.

I don't know why I keep messing with this thing, just something about it I like. I group weapons in three major groups by range synergy, by the way, for those looking at this and thinking "lot of different guns there." ERSLs and MRMs have the same duration and before the tweak similar range. MLs are better now for MRM groups. HMGs I save for those who choose to facehug. And jets to the max because Uziels have to be able to escape and sometimes up is the only way out.

I've managed to do it, as I've described on the first page of this thread.

In total I'm short 1 ton of RAC/5 ammo, 0.5 tons of SRM 6 ammo and the jump jets (according to the bg.battletech forum link in the quote below) were also removed, which when you do the math, adds up perfectly.

In short, my "Jacob" loadout is:
  • RAC/5 x2
  • ER SLas x2
  • SRM 6 x1
  • RAC/5 ammo 2 tons
  • SRM 6 ammo 0.5 tons
  • XL 250
  • LFF 8.5 tons

  • UZL-2S Uziel (Jacob) Won in combat on Arc-Royal after the Wolf's Dragoons arrival, the reborn Black Widow Company's XO Jacob Kincaid set about upgrading his new 'Mech significantly. By the time of the Black Widow's return to Outreach in early 3070[11], Jacob's Uziel used a lighter 250 rated XL Engine and eight and half tons of Light Ferro-Fibrous armor to free up weight to mount a Rotary AC/5 in each arm while retaining the ER Small Lasers and SRM-6 rack. Three tons of autocannon reloads keep the rotaries firing, with a single ton carried for the SRM launcher. BV (2.0) = 1,513 [12][11]

Edit 2: After some more math, I don't think it's the armor weighing too much. Either way, I'm short 1.5 tons even though Sarna says it ought to fit.

Edit 3: This might account for the missing 1.5 tons:

...while simultaneously upgrading the standard gyro to an extra-light model.

Edit 4: I exchanged the 1 ton of SRM ammo for 0.5 tons in order to reach the advertised 8.5 tons of armor.
