amen.
Random map rotation is best map rotation.
Democracy rarely works, in politics or games. (because most people are just too dumb to be trusted to make choices beyond what brand of toothpaste to buy... and honestly that might be giving too much credit. They're either too ill informed to make educated choices, or those that do intentionally take advantage of the system. Anyone remember the colossal snoozefest map picking made of the WC?)

Not voting is my way of going back to the old way we did things which was much better imho.

If that can't be done, at least make Escort and Incursion work on Canyon, Mining, and Bog (or get rid of the modes entirely). I play A LOT and only see Canyon Network about once a week. It's stupid.

Ofcourse you'll always get the same maps cose' from all the maps on offer, which is limited at best, only few are "crowd favorites", so you end up with clear choices, depending on your current build..
if there were more maps to choose from, those choices would widen, thus allowing more variety..
But as we all know, "maps don't pay bills".. many think that.. but I disagree.. maps are a huge part of this game.. and if you land on the "wrong map for your build" more often than not, like landing on Polar in an SRM brawler 6 times in a row, what else are you gonna do but stop playing and go play something else?
Making more maps should be getting a large portion of the dev's focus.. it may be costly and not provide immediate benefits, but if PGI wants to keep players interested in their game long-term, maps are the most important way to go..
You can make as many mechs as you like, but if you can only play them on 2-3 maps, it is going to get stale really really fast..

how is there too few? people anyways only choose a few specific maps, if we had more those never chosen would still stay never chosen.

Random map rotation would help eliminate "boating" of mechs.... If you didnn't know where you were going to go and what mission you'd be playing, players might start considering "balanced ordnance layouts" vis-a'-vis Sniping only/Brawling only/LRM only. etc...platforms.
If you can't GAME THE SYSTEM, yo'd have to actually think a little bit..........to survive and excel.
Many of us are sick to death of the HPG, Tide, HPG, Mining, Tide, HPG cycle..... Good grief....week after week.
Additionally, forget about drop deck choice in PUG's because you'd only get the same results because upper level players have figured out the mathematics of this game a LONG rime ago and have created meta's explicitly for those maps.....
Want to really change competitive and daily play (and make the competitive players cry and moan?): create never seen, new maps for the competitve season that are only revealed when they get there, sit down to actually play (no practice time)........ I'd bet you dollars to donuts, we'd see some of the best teams fail because they only know what they've practiced a thousand times...... Gaming the system is easy..... Actually fighting, in an asymmetrical environment for the first time isn't at all an easy thing....

I want random map selection too, because I want to play on all the maps.
But the idea that it would reduce boating is silly, boating (or specialization on a single role which is what it really is about) isn't powerful because of map selection, it's just powerful in general, on all maps.
There is currently no map or plausible scenario in this game where you are favored by bringing a multipurpose build, it's just more effective to specialize.
If you want to be flexible and prepared for different situations the best way to do that in this game is to boat a flexible weapon system with decent range, not to bring an array of different weapons. That's just the way the game works, it's also how real life works for the most part, so it's hard to prevent.

And the thing wrong with the "random map" fanboy praising is that there were a lot of things wrong with that "random" selection.

Uh dude no it won't, people still boated just as much back when we did have random maps as they do now.

Random would be fine.
If they'd randomize the drop points too, that would be great.

I'm curious about what would happen if all 24 players didn't vote during a QP match. Highly unlikely, I'm sure but would PGI have even taken this into consideration? Would a map and mode be randonly selected from the options available or would time and space simply cease to be?
