Interesting, does anyone still use the old ballistic blackjacks? I run UAC 10 on mine with LFE and like 5 tons of ammo with all laser hardpoints filled with med lasers. I'd post a smurfy but I'm away from my pc right now.

Oddly, I don't think I've tried the UAC10 yet, and I love my BJ-1 in a "Boomjack lite" format.

Go big or go home.

EDIT: Right, forgot about Photobucket's linking BS.

It's supposed to be a screencap of my HBK-GI with a Heavy Gauss Rifle.

I swapped the single LRM15 in one of my Huntsmans for an ATM6 and it's pretty awful so far. Are ATMs only good with more than one launcher? So far I've dropped the UAC10 down to an LB-5 and upped it to an ATM9 but haven't taken that out for a spin yet. Tempted to just go back to the LRMs

Original HMN-B
ATM 6
ATM 9

I'm starting this thread to see what builds are happening with the new tech update. All builds are welcome, silliness and madness is allowed. Just remember this is the medium mech forum.

There are no mediums anymore...all got eaten by my Annihilator Posted Image

Just joking. My Arrow got max engine LMGs and LPPCs, My poor, little, unloved PXH got MRMs and ERMedlasers to fool around with. Keeping some distance hels the more fragile mechs a lot if you are a decent shoot.

Adding Endo-Steel would give you two more tons to work with. I prefer the 225 engines on my Blackjacks because it's the least tonnage to get 9 internal heatsinks but this BJ-2(L) is your build tweaked a bit to how I'd probably run it; 4 tons of ammo will give you 30 bursts of the MRMs, and you have two ERSLs for a bit of pinpoint damage (I prefer the ERSLs to SPLs because you don't have to get nearly as close, and will still do some damage to mechs at over 300m).

You could also add light ferro for about another half-ton to play with but it may restrict other BJ-2 builds. Committing fully to the quad MRM10 build I think something like this BJ-2(L) build would be good. I used the light ferro and shaved off a bit of armour to add an extra heatsink (using smurfy's calculations I try to get at or over a 40% cooling efficiency, and the previous build was a bit shy at 39%).

Thanks, haven't played it too much, but much improved over my original..

Finally got around to using the Ultra 10 on the Hunchback, perfect weapon for the mech.

This ROC loadout looks cosmically silly and very very tempting, especially with the hero sale

Fun suprises this patch. Maybe not meta, but they have been fun again.

Heavy Metal - 2 Rac 2's, 3 ER Med, 2 RL20, LAMS

Hellslinger -- 4 Light PPC, 2 Snub PPC, 3 RL10, LAMS

Arrow -- 6 LMG, 3 ER Med, 1 LAMS

Jester - 2 LL, 4 ER Med, 2 LAMS

Top Dog -- 8 ER Med, 1 Heavy PPC, 1 LAMS

Misery -- 1 AC/20, 2 Snub PPC, 3 ER Small, 1 LAMS

I have been expermenting with swapping LPL builds out with ER Mediums with Laser Duration buffs since they are so similar with less tonage, slots, and heat. There by allowing to pack some more firepower in other ways or just a much cooler build. Having mixed results as it begs for more firepower and in trade, ends up being hotter or it leaves you without using all your weight available and the feeling you are not being efficent with the build. Also experimenting with pure swap outs of Medium lasers to ER Mediums. On heavies and above that already have good heat sink numbers, it has been EXCELLENT. Such as the Jester. When it works, it works amazing. I have also been trying to swap to the Light Engines. It increases the survivability of mechs I had running XL's, and it allows me to use items normally I was not able to due to weight on the units I had using standards, such as fitting in an LAMS, which I have been slapping on each mech that I can afford to do so. The fact it does not run out of ammo and how many folks are using LRMs again, it has really helped I feel.

You're a medium moving at the pace of a slow heavy? I hope you are hiding behind an assault as you move in.

Here are 2 builds i suggest for bushwackers, you'll have sturdy, decently fast, powerful, and extremely fun mechas !

1) Screenshaker Bushwacker (take one with 2 med slot in the torso et 3 missiles slots at least)

-Light engine 250 (79.2 kph with speed tweek)
-Light Ferro & Endo
-Strip some armor in head & legs

-3 MRM 10 (shoulder/arm) + 2 tons of ammo
-1 R-AC5 : 2 & half ton of ammo (+ bonus ammo with skills)
-2 ER MED in torso
-1 Double heatsink

A bit hot, but very good burst and good dps. When brawling use MRM to strip and rotary to kill. At mid range just go for med + rotary => Add mrms on big targets. And for poke => send everything, keep a bit of rotary till a second salvo of mrms&lasers than fall back (of course don't over expose yourself and fallback earlier if needed) !!!

But most importantly => Extremely fun Posted Image

2) The High Roller Bushwacker :

-Light Engine 270 (85.5 kph with speed tweek)
-Light Ferro & Endo
-Full armor

-3 LMG (+1 ton of ammo)
-1 MRM 20 (+1 & half ton of ammo + ammo with skills)
-3 ERMED
-1 Large pulse
-3 DHS

Very heat efficicent, good dps, sick burst, etc... useful in mid & short range.
