HBK-IIC-A - Wanna drill a heavy through the CT in one shot with no ghost heat? Tested and proven to be hilariously effective. Can safely alpha on any map. Once. Don't stare into the Sun, kids. Credit to akolade for the idea.

SHD-2K - Splaaaat. Effective? Sort of. MRMs spread too much, but this sure does run up the damage fast.

*Edit - Tried this one tonight:

HBK-4P - Honestly the best 4P I've ever driven. Ignore the ERSLs; they're only there for popping UAVs. It's got a 39-point focused punch out to ~400m, with the ability to do meaningful damage to about 500. Alpha ~3 times, then either hide and cool off or cut the LL out and alternate sets of 3xERML to sustain damage. Tested with ERLL, but it just added too much heat to the midrange alpha for the ability to deal a piddling 9 damage at longer ranges (plus I'd have had to add another firing group for just the ERLL, and screw that nonsense).

Has anyone been using any of the old ACs? I've got a hunch with a AC20 with 4 med lasers and stock engine, which I might change to a light engine. Been getting 350 to 500 easy.

On my hunch I changed to a LBX20. But I still use an AC20 on my bounty hunter and AC10s on my cicada and my Grey Death. All still work perfectly. Light engine helps for sure do. add more lasers or head sinks.

Fun suprises this patch. Maybe not meta, but they have been fun again.

Heavy Metal - 2 Rac 2's, 3 ER Med, 2 RL20, LAMS

Hellslinger -- 4 Light PPC, 2 Snub PPC, 3 RL10, LAMS

Arrow -- 6 LMG, 3 ER Med, 1 LAMS

Jester - 2 LL, 4 ER Med, 2 LAMS

Top Dog -- 8 ER Med, 1 Heavy PPC, 1 LAMS

Misery -- 1 AC/20, 2 Snub PPC, 3 ER Small, 1 LAMS

I have been expermenting with swapping LPL builds out with ER Mediums with Laser Duration buffs since they are so similar with less tonage, slots, and heat. There by allowing to pack some more firepower in other ways or just a much cooler build. Having mixed results as it begs for more firepower and in trade, ends up being hotter or it leaves you without using all your weight available and the feeling you are not being efficent with the build. Also experimenting with pure swap outs of Medium lasers to ER Mediums. On heavies and above that already have good heat sink numbers, it has been EXCELLENT. Such as the Jester. When it works, it works amazing. I have also been trying to swap to the Light Engines. It increases the survivability of mechs I had running XL's, and it allows me to use items normally I was not able to due to weight on the units I had using standards, such as fitting in an LAMS, which I have been slapping on each mech that I can afford to do so. The fact it does not run out of ammo and how many folks are using LRMs again, it has really helped I feel.

Dual Laser AMS on an energy based Jester? Fascinated to know the precise build as that sounds very hot running.

Since they haven't been mentioned:

This one just works for me, one of the best flankers I have:

And this one actually made me like the IFR-prime

Heavy lasers really help hard point starved mechs....

Dunno how good any of these actually are, I've only ever run the HBK-IIC(O), and it does decent.

Having a lot of fun with a dual UAC/2 SHD-2H. Very fun fire support mech, though if you aren't careful you'll spread damage pretty much all over the enemy. The firing sound of the UACs is worth it, though.

Got inspired by a B33f-vid.

He was using the S2 with 4 ASRM6 but since I only had the X2 to play with I ended up doing this:

Deadside BSW-X2

Fire, twist left. Full survival tree, tanks like an assault and nice splash dmg.

The Snub-nose works well with the SRMs, same range and cd.

Nothing about this mech should work, XL RAC's MRM's but, it's like a ruben, put a bunch of bad ingredients together and it becomes something you wanna stick in your mouth.

Trick to playing is to make use of that masc to severely outmanuever whoever you're engaged with while releasing a barrage of annoyance, you got dakka, you got missles when the dakka jams, you got a flamer. It's the swiss army knife of annoyance and I've been having decent games (400-600) damage games in it but, i love medium mechs to begin with. It does keep you very busy with the masc and the 3 weapon groups and heat management but, it's fun. It's an IS mech so feel free to use the deadarm. Tried to figure out how to cram a light engine into it but just loses that cherry spot of speed and you really want the MASC on it.
(edit: need to remove a DHS for 2 JJ's)

BJ-2L "Yellowjacket", built for the SSRM quirk (if I wanted regular SRMs GRF-2N is superior) http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3fb16b11e150e5c

HBK-4P "Phoenix", just a straight upgrade of the old meta build: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c4119321b1cc024

HBK-4SP "Backstabber", another MRM-using 4SP build: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...50c4f9e1cc0d5e6

Outside the medium weight class, CTF-0XP "Blam Thing": http://mwo.smurfy-ne...58a94830627d74e It's essentially an uglier, stealthier Hunchback 4G. What's not to love?
