This by far is one of the worst events you could have conceived PGI. I mean seriously, it goes way beyond just ending up with bad players on ones team and getting rolled as well as free stuff.

First off; you advertise this thing as an IS event and put the Annihilator and Uziel right there in the front for everyone to see with flashy colors and don't even bother to showoff the Madcat or Cougar. By seeing this it's like you guys are giving the message that the Madcat and Cougar are garbage mechs. I think the Cougar, Uziel, Madcat MK2, and Annihilator are all good looking mechs. Yet, you missed an opportunity to flont all four new mechs. It really is a shame.

Second; you bolster the c-bill payout to 50% for Novacat and Steel Viper which is waste cause everyone and there brother to begin with is playing IS or signed to some other clan.

All I can take away from this event is you do not care about the overall player base. Some of us could care less about the different tech bases. I enjoy both IS and Clan mechs/tech. But by advertising this event as an IS thing you give the impression that you don't care about what you have added from your creative team. Seeing words like this "Your mission is to jump into the new Season of Faction Play and throw down in the fight for the Inner Sphere!" tells me right there that you just don't like the clan stuff in the game and if that is the case why don't you just remove it? Why couldn't this say something like "Throw down with the either the Clans or the Inner Sphere to see who can come out on top" as an example? Personally I feel like this was some way for you to try and figure out where the balance has shifted between the different tech bases and if that is the case this was not the way to do it based around an event. I mean it's sad really and I am terribly disappointed. I really hope that when it's time for the escalation to happen in October that you advertise that event in a way that shows off both the new Inner Sphere and Clan toys.

I wouldn't say that I am paranoid. All I am saying is I am disappointed on how this event was presented. PGI had all the opportunity to encourage people to jump on and play both Inner Sphere and Clan and they didn't do it. They also (as I said in my post) could have shown off the new Clan mechs as well in the War Chest event post they made for the event but they didn't do that either and it's disappointing.

Why are so many people get upset by events on MWO? We're getting free stuff. Yeah, you might not get ALL the free stuff, but shouldn't a challenge be, you know, challenging?

True! It is not as if this event was like "to the Victors"..that one was a royal pain.

I am sorry but you don't speak for everyone on this one, lots of us actually like siege mode and yes it sucks when you have to attack, but we like it because it is different and not at all like QP games.

Am I correct in interpreting your comments as "I want to get FP rewards for playing QP matches"? Is that not what your argument boils down to?

No you are not right. I am fine with FP rewards for FP, I never said/hinted otherwise. Not sure how you even got there to be honest but no worries.

To me, siege feels like beta (not even complete). Nothing's added to it.

Drop camp still exists due to pathetic dropships.

Generator walls are not breakable. Defenders should have a chance to open doors. No ingame features to capture, in incursion you have the chance to take power nodes to give you an ingame advantage, why isn't this in Siege? Capturing radar towers or destroying them to add more dynamics to the game mode. So a base has nothing useful except a big cannon inside?

At the moment I see it as being completely lopsided in the defending team's favour (unless a premade is present which increases the chances of a win). I'd like to see the attackers receive free air strikes for example to help flush out/spread out enemies. It's too boring/minotinous. I actually prefer Incursion, I can't wait to drop on this game mode in FW.

This view is of course entirely from a pug point of view where perhaps one or two people lead. I have no idea how it works for 12 vs 12 fully co-ordinated match players. I wonder if anyone can share their views in this case on if Attacking vs Defending is lopsided or not.

"Worst event" huh?

Worse than the Territorial Challenge of September 2015 when you had to get an assaninely high match score on ALL maps, when you had no control whatsoever over what map you fought on, just to win one of the prize packs?

https://mwomercs.com...nts?t=201509map

I think not. XD

So my jump to a proposed conclusion (and i admit it was a jump) was based on the background question of: "If the rewards are paltry, and the game modes you like are accessible elsewhere, why play FP?"

So yeah i wasn't trying to put words in your mouth, hence me posing it as a question instead of asserting that was your primary point.

So there are those of us that like siege, we try to play those maps like a fiddle.

We barely saw them for months because the previous iteration of FP would barely ever seesaw into siege. All we saw for sometimes weeks was conquest, domination and (shiver) skirmish.

Now i get your point about depth and in its totality FP has all these modes now, and yes, incursion is much better suited for FP than it is QP.

I guess i and few others found it funny that after not getting siege reliably for AGES we hear people complain when its finally back in the rotation...

I agree. 90% of the FW victories I've gotten during this event were as the defenders in Siege Mode. It is the dumbest mode ever conceived were you waste 30mins of time earning 1/3 of the credits you could've gotten playing other modes, including QP. The only time I've seen attackers win was when it was an Org. Group vs Pug Drop. Pug v Pug and Org. Group vs Org. Group Defenders auto wipe, so stupid.

I honestly think PGI uses it to 'balance' the Faction play via the other side is dominating let's give the loosers 10 siege matches as defenders in a row to even out the tug-of-war bar.

Attackers in Siege mode have disadvantage, but you can win it pugs vs pugs and even if enemies have some groups in their team, I did it not just once, you just need to have better organisation then enemies. Talking teams always outperform silent ones. But, if you are vs full unit team you are screwed no matter what your side is.

Why making an event for a totally bugged game mode?

It is laggy like hell and you get dropped outside the map or not at all. Got stucked in drop screen on every mech!

If you disconnect to get to the fight, you have to rejoin under Quick Play! Why is that???

Alt+Tabbing in any loading screen still ***** up the loading process.

Those things happen now till 2 years and many more faults, what does PGI think about working on that?

And why do IS with all that new balancing and all the new tech still have 15 tons more then clans?
Is PGI not sure about it being good enough?

Yeah, the drop bugs suck, but my experience has been that when you click on stuff and switch focus to other apps, that seems to a trigger for that... I get drop bugs once in a while, but not that often...

Devs if you would please in a major way increase score for completing objectives during faction play. On siege attack the name of the game is get the gens, get the win. The current set up of this event is forcing us, when the opportunity presents itself, to farm the other team.

Just checking back in on the thread, and I've reached the point of being salty. Those bloody Inner Sphere Pilots have been given way too much, and are now flatly running Clan Pilots over. The unfortunate Clans are losing worlds, are unable to make a proper return push, and don't have the tonnage to respond properly for Mech Combat. This Event was also hastily launched in a manner that prevented Non-Large-Unit Pilots from moving where they might be able to earn, so Large Units that went to the Inner Sphere are running over Small Units and Solo Pilots. <_<

Worse, I seem to have fallen afoul of the lunatics who won't communicate, so I'm getting screwed on this Event because of others' inability to work together. I've even seen these lunatics gaming the system by hiding and not sharing armor, and so they're getting higher scores from less dead mechs, unlike those who were willing to put forward even if they lost more mechs on the battle. I don't know what's wrong with the minds of the PGI Staff, but docking people massively in Faction Warfare for destroyed Mechs is a rather bad thing to do. It's those who are dying which are putting forward the effort to win more often than not, and the ones hiding in the back all match long are just letting them die.

Maybe there should be an Event with a challenge included about "Savior Kill" rewards?!?!? -_-

About the only thing I can see to balance the battles in this Event now is to boost the Tonnage allowed to the Clans back to 250 for Invasion and 55 for Scouting. Either that, or take the Inner Sphere down to 255 for Invasion, and 50 for Scouting. Or, heck, how about we just RESET both sides to 250 for Invasion and 55 for Scouting?!?!? :(

Its a 2 way street.

If you are on the team that can rush, if you got your score by rushing, you would, EZPZ... Whether you actually rushed or if you just went AFK while the other 11 successfully ran in and got Omega. So now you get 100% success rate on the rushing team... unless enough lazy b@st@rds decide to let the rest of you carry and then you get slaughtered...

If you are on the team getting rushed, you would effectively be unable to get a qualifying score unless you are ultra efficient in killing/damaging rushers before they kill the objective. Even then, what percentage of the losing team would have a shot at qualifying?

Fact is, PGI clearly wants us to beat the tar out of each other and rewards us for doing so. Objectives are secondary.

So you see, yes, it would be great to have objectives count more, but in reality, they would have to rethink things like "qualifying match score" for winners and losers.

Not saying thats a bad idea, but I don't think you can just flip a switch and reward gen rushing so casually...

Okay, I could DEFINITELY get behind the idea of locking everyone -- regardless of Faction -- to 250 Tons for Invasion and 50 Tons for Scouting. That should even the battlefield out a bit. However, I don't think we need to knock the I.S. down to 40 Tons on Scouting, though.

It seems Clans have stopped playing much. Waiting times are longer and IS gets free wins.

As I soon get my second mechbay from Rasalhague, I think I'll take my next loyalty contract with Clans.

I wonder was new tech really so big thing, I have my doubts.
Maybe after last Tukyaid all the inexperienced players heard Clans are so OP, that they went Clan?

I personally don't know, as I went Clan Loyalist myself for other reasons, and I'm NOT that fresh off the crazy old 'Turnip Truck' anymore. However, getting run over repeatedly and losing 8-Hour-Long Combat Phases -- all when I'm putting my best effort (and NOT something cheesy) forward -- has been killing my ability to battle, and most certainly will wipe out my chances of ever getting all those nice Pick-A-Prize things. I really hate when other people can force you to massively lose out and fail. -_-

Which reminds me... Is anyone else noticing that anything with 6+ Jump Jets is doing more than just stopping Mechs from cooling off? My own ShadowCats are generating so much heat now from merely JumpJetting that they're adding to the Heat Level Meter, instead of just stalling it! What did PGI do in the last patch that they didn't mention?!?!? :o

Hello everyone. I have a small question. I noticed on the last choice for the war chest event you get to pick a mech and a color. I also noticed that some of the new mechs are in the drop down menu. Are these new mechs available for free if I get the 12800 match score, or is that an oversight?

What you're looking at (just past the Unlock for a Color) is ONLY A CAMO PATTERN UNLOCK for any Mech of your choice. You would still have to acquire the Mech via other means, as that Pick-A-Prize item WILL NOT give you a free Mech.
