Remember the names:
HGN, BNC, Cata 2K, MAD 5, AWS, BJ, Griffin, Wolverine, Warhammer, Thunderbolt, Vindicator-1AA... that's it. The rest better even do not try to wear HPPC without open skill tree(Firepower) and quirks. It might boil and stir-fry your mek.
Where Are You Getting The Best Out Of H-Ppc's?

Ppcs in general have been nerfed again and again to a point, where they are simply too weak compared to other weapons.
Sniping never was, isnt and prolly never will be popular in mwo.
Most players prefer close to mid range brawling or close to mid-range loadouts.
If you take ppcs and look at what they can and cannot do in mwo and compare them to eg autocannons (eg ac 10 vs ppc) then one major advantage is that the ppc doesnt require ammo.
Ammo isnt really relevant anymore though.
In mwos QP 2 to 6 min games you basically almost never run out of ammo.
That advantage isnt a factor.
Another advantage is that ppcs used to be faster and thus more accurate.
Which isnt the case anymore because sniping in general (and by extension ppcs) has been consequently nerfed over the years and throughout the patches while brawling has been buffed.
By now an ac 10 is so much more lethal, so much more superior to a ppc in terms of cooldown, heat and overall potential that energy builds and especially (heavy) ppc builds are at a major disadvantage.
The heavy ppc is so incredibly hot that its simply not effective to use it. Even if the heat would be cut in half just like that and I mean the heat would be reduced by 50 % it would still suck vs acs that we have nowadays. The cooldown alone of ppcs is such a major disadvantage that you will get annihilated before you can even think about firing your ppcs again.
An autocannon will ripp you apart so brutally that not even your own mother will recognize you anymore.
Ppcs suck right now.
Sure. You can be effective with ppcs.
But you need long, drawn out games and a team that survives for a long time.
it takes a long time for you to be somewhat effective.
The cooldown nerf was the exact and complete wrong direction. Instead they should have reduced cooldown as ppcs are so insanely hot that there has to be at least one single advantage for paying such an insanely high heat price.
Instead, they made cooldown even longer.
Only a crazy person would understand the reasoning behind that.

Pop-tarting has always been the best use of PPCs in general, but IS PPCs and their minimum range essentially demand it. Jump jets can give you that extra 20-30m of breathing room when your enemy has closed to 70m or so. HPPCs work best on a medium or fast heavy with JJs. Said mech also needs heat quirks, since HPPCs are ridiculously hot and IS heatsinks take up way too much room. Unfortunately, I haven't found many good builds that work without the XL engine. HPPCs are heavy and JJs take up even more room and weight.

I've put dual HPPC's on an Awesome 8Q (plus 5 ML for close in work) and even on a Trebuchet 7K (plus basically nothing else). Both use a LFE, both are scoring great. The Treb can be cornered and shot to pieces, but the Awesome has new life as a powerful build.

I put a couple on a grasshopper 5P (with er smalls to bump them up) and the mech performs... Terribly. I could easily do a lot more with a Nova, hunchback, or huntsman and 2 erppc's. Even If I subtract splash damage or whatever (not that splash damage isn't useful damage, I feel like I'm a pretty good shot, but I'm not hitting CT every time on every target, a lot of splash is going CT, anyway)
30 pinpoint isn't really that strong when the average ct armor is like 100 and you're not hitting it every time. Three shots in a row overheats you, and the grasshopper is a giant target that lost it's side torso structure. Am I getting something wrong? I wanna try new stuff out.

For one thing the GHR-5P has been ubergiganerfed and is now a crap choice of GHR (i know, i own 2...) for anything that isnt using all 4 high mounted torso slots. For the HPPC poptart build, use the GHR-5H since it has a 10% heat gen quirk which makes a big difference.

Put 2 HPPC on the Loyalty Stalker (1 in each ST) and 4 MPL between the arms. ECM and for giggles, I put stealth armor on it (picture naked Cartman trying to sneak across the stage in SP). But solid build.

GHR-5p with 2 HPeeps and medlas is a beast that is well capable of 4 digit damage numbers.
