Help A New Guy...

1.Why is it IS units vs clan pubs all the time?
2. Why the **** are we fighting over Caustics and lava pools. 10+ maps and all I get to play is **** firestorms.
3. How many of you only still play because of the money invested
4. Planet voting. What does it actually do?
5. Faction Loyalist. Is there any real benefit? I'm starting to thing that everyone not a mercenary (me included) is just a *******.
6. How much would it cost to buy out this developer? It pains me to think that this could turn into the CnC4 of Mechwarrior.
Thank you in advance.

2. FW is now Quickplay 2.0
3. Money invested means nothing. It's all about not investing any more.
4. Planet voting is meaningless
5. Faction Loyalty is meaningless.
6. Make Russ an offer.

Yes, being a loyalist makes you a ******. I say this as someone who was a loyalist for years. PGI has always geared FW toward mercs but wants lore hounds and loyalists as filler for merc teams to stomp.
Money not relevant.
Map voting doesn't happen in FW. Just random.

Stay away from Faction Play as far as possible.

Enjoy it while you can. Soon you will notice that everyone votes for HPG manifolds 24/7. Also, some of colder maps are total garbage.

Me at least. It's not that I force myself to play but I'm waiting to see PGI actually spending my invested money on development of their game. There's no other games about robots after all. And I love robots.

1. Get mechbay from rank 2 with all factions as loyalist.
2. Switch to merc.

Considering how overpriced everything in this game is, it will cost you gazillions of gigashekels. Russ Bullock's official statement is: «Just keep buying mechpacks!»

If you're not in a group yourself, then odds are you're only going to get pubs. There's a group queue and "quick play" for the regular server. FW is catch as catch can. Right now, you're in the middle of another horribly thought out and poorly implemented event which encourages solos to play FW.

Because people like me tank their vote until they get that big X12 multiplier, then they send everyone to hell. Some guys just want to see the world burn.
That and I know that your trial mechs run hot, whereas my custom mechs don't. Built 'em that way for a reason.

Haven't wasted a penny on MW:O in a couple of years. Won't even think about it until they fix the Clans.

What it's supposed to do and what it actually does are two different things. Right now, as a PUG, it's a waste of time.

Not that I can tell, other than bonus to cbills earned and all. Even that isn't a big deal.

Who would even bother? Let it die, the license goes back to Microsoft, buy it from them. There are already other people developing BT games. Mechwarrior Living Legends was good. Maybe they'll take over from where they left off.

The hot maps are not bad at all, either bring gauss or pack on the heat sinks which give you higher heat cap. Combined with coolshot the heat is not a limiting factor.

can someone translate that first paragraph??
Thanks for the constructive feedback. I've been building alot more ballistics to compensate for the heat but since we just got heavy lasers it sucks that we cant use them.
I'd like to join a group, but I have kids and I cant play like i'm a jobless teenager. Any good groups for that?

Kids and a job as an excuse for not joining a unit team is getting pretty old. Like real old. Almost as old as the average age of a battletech fan.

Plenty of units advertise on the forums. Then there are ts/discord servers where alot of units hang. Try to find one, there is plenty to choose. I got a kid and a lot of life outside this game, but that doesnt mean I can not play this game at high level. Sorry but I've just heard that family/work excuse so many times that it kinda riles me up nowadays. Good luck finding a decent fit.
Recommend just trying those open faction hubs or comstar first and shop around.

I hate to tell you kiddo but kids and a job interfering with maintaining active social ties is MUCH older than the average age of a BT fan... Its called being an adult with responsibilities.

It aint. Just most of the time the veterans'll often group up an drop together, so IS pugs'll meet clan units, an IS units fight Clan units, and sometimes it's even pug on pug action. Personally the Unit on Unit combat has had some of my favourite matches.

There are so many units with players who have kids, RL commitments etc, that you honestly shouldn't have much problem finding one if you put any real energy into the search. I'm 45 with two kids and a job that takes me out of the country frequently. Doesn't prevent anything we try to do as a group.

Each "Node" on the display when you look at the planet represents a specific map and they are assigned. The third node will always be one specific map. So they aren't random.
Not sure if the game mode is assigned, that could be random.
Carry on.

Wow, so much news, thanks gramps. Never had to schedule scrims or comp matches from interfering normal life, like with the last years mwowc that took the whole summer and then some. Mainly speaking about these forums and the times when people say that irl is preventing them from joining units and playing as a group. Not that op was complaining about it mind you, I should have had less salt as a midnight snack.

There are tons of units and almost none of them have any requirements for playtime/scrimmages/practices.
For example, The Templars ( my unit).
Requirements are that you download Teamspeak and during your first couple months in the unit complete a handful of training assignments passed to you by the officer who is responsible for integrating you into the unit.
Drop once a week, every few days, every day, we don't care... as long as you log onto Teamspeak whenever you are dropping so that you can team up with other Templars. There are lots of evening and weekend groups of 4-8 people dropping CW together.
If you want to be a little more serious we run a 12-man CW group on Monday and Tuesday nights. We often start these nights with a quick private lobby to discuss a particular tactic or to work to make a frequently-used movement smoother, then we queue drops for 2 or 3 hours.

Good luck,
Xann

1. It's not. I play IS mostly ever since TT and for me I more often see IS Pugs vs clan units. I think one time was I ever a solo along with a large IS unit. Usually the best I see from IS is 3 guys from one unit, 2 from another and maybe 2 from another with the rest pugs.
2. LOL it certainly does seem that way doesn't it.
3. I play because I enjoy it. This is a newer account and the only one I invested any real money into for premium time. I had an older account from when the game released that I messed up with newbie mistakes like selling mechs at a huge Cbill loss etc.
4. Presumably chooses what planets to go for in the next attack cycle.
5. I play loyalist, mostly for RP/lore reasons I guess at the moment. Also because I don't have the C-bills yet to have a clan deck and an IS deck.
6. ...
