That's all true, but that doesn't change the tech vs. tech, which is the point being made. Strategy works around tech, but doesn't actually change the tech.

RAC5's are very good point blank, but spread a lot at anything over 300m. They pad damage numbers nicely though, but you'll get a lot more components critted with an LBX10, or kills with any of the regular AC's. You build according to playstyle.

So you would rather have identical weapons on both sides and to hell with strategy?

You're saying lb10x is better at range then racs? Racs are amazing within their optimal range.. 500m or so.. you won't get kills as much as point blank but the suppression cannot be beat..

I think this convo is going around in circles..

I already explained all this, not saying it again, go back and read. Of course this is going in circles, the debate over tech never ceases, and as stated strategy can outweigh tech or quirks.

The subject of the thread is tonnage adjustment though, and as it stands right now, adjusting tonnage to be even or closer to even would simply exacerbate the current IS vs Clan skill imbalance that is painstakingly obvious if you play IS side in anything other than organized 12 mans.

I want either an extra 5 tons for my Clans or a drop in IS weight to 250, I would prefer the extra 5 tons though :P

The IS would like at least two more top 10 (and active) units than they have right now. My guess is you aren't getting what you want, until after they get what they want.

Everybody is living with disappointment these days...

Man, lots of people going on about IS advantages. Go IS then, you'll have all the tonnage your heart so desires.

Uh hate to step in here about the range disparity, but all the is drops we've seen, premades or not have at least 24 mechs with tcomp 8s, and 4-5-6-7 erll and what I assume is maxed range and heat skilltree.....we see deaths happen well over 1600+ from full dmg weps, advantage : IS, and with the nerfbat comming, our lbk rushing will be a thing of the past :3, nevermind both sides complaining about rotary blinding shenanigans, meh either way we will see when the notes come out but Chris made a really obscure post mentioning "NDA's" (non disclosure agreements) and what he can and can't confirm what is comming but meh

Ok...I have to ask....what are you smoking and how much of it?

Seriously....no you are not seeing 6-7 Erlarge IS mechs with tcomp 8's and a full damage range of 1600....IS has capable mechs for long range errlarge engagements....but things are not as you state..c'mon man..

He is a wolf loyalist, he isn't smoking anything, just a very high level of starch involved with no real knowledge of the game Marquis.

Someone currently high or just a wolf loyalist?....hmmm....you are on to something there ...the forum postings of both are most often indistinguishable.

Sorry to interrupt, but of all the IS lights you could have used to further your argument...you went with the Huggin as on of your exemplars of IS goodness? Also the Oxide? This is not summer of 2015, man.

I would have gone with the Javelin and if necessary the Wolfhound.

Again sorry to interrupt.
those are the ones I've had the most fun in and seen people raco up damn fine scores in. But yes the two you mentioned are good mechs no argument there. Just showing the fact that the IS has a much larger selection to go with than clan does.

Why? Clan 100-ton mechs are pretty bad. Bringing two IS 100-ton mechs is also bad... IS lights.. yep, they also seem pretty bad!

Bad players bringing 100-ton assault mechs has to be near the top of the list of "reasons why some FP games are miserable".
if you're only u seing a few Yes, they are slow, but have a lot of durability and firepower. Underestimating 1200 tonnes of battletech stomping down your door isn't a healthy thing.

I am not going to pretend to know the ghost heat for IS, if they have any, but a favorite of the IS is ER Large lasers. Taking targets out at range. As for the clans and IS drop decks. The clans should be set at 55 tons scouting, 250 tons invasion, and IS should remain the same. Afterwards, there should never ever be any messing around with the tons on the decks again. What few recognize is when people set a deck, they put a insane amount of credits into it. Its not right the devs keep messing with it, but the clans at 240 tons is not right by a long shot, and should be increased to 250 tons. Also the IS should recognize, for those accusing clanners of complaining, that is was them and their unending bitching that got the clans scouting deck nerfed. With the introduction of several top of the line mediums for the IS, this concession to the children needs to be undone. The scouting deck returned to 55 tons. Further more I believe with the nerfing, by adding ghost heat to ppc/gauss combo, the devs have gone too far. To be honest I expect them to knock the last pin of the clans out from underneath the clans. A opinion of one player.

Wow the personal attack and for once carl didn't trollmine me some more :3 I litterally was joking, ah well have fun beating a dead horse with the tonnage limits, pgi still hasn't listened, for a dead game mode most units use to farm for mc :3, here's to hoping mw5/Comming maps are not overpromised and underdelivered >_>

Again more sarcasm^ since you can't taste it or hear it thru text :3
