After the Medium Laser heat reduction, and getting new weaponry...the Bounty Hunter II is even better than before.

Smurfy:
BOUNTY HUNTER II

Skills I recommend:
Full speed tweak
Laser duration
LBX Spread
Magazine Capacity
Cool Run
Structure (Bonus from quirks)
Target Info Gathering
Radar Deprivation

You can also switch out the mediums for ER Mediums, and drop LBX20 for Gauss to compensate for the increased in heat. Its toasty, but the range is nice.

BOUNTY HUNTER II

Just be sure to avoid ghost heat by firing your head laser separately form the rest of the alpha.

This is the one I did BOUNTY HUNTER II
Identical to the old-tech build except I replaced the AC10 with an ultra and the head ML for an ER. Because of the range quirks, the range profile of the ML and AC10 were always pretty similar, and now even moreso. Arm lasers on one fire group, UAC and head laser on another, and arm lasers on chainfire for a third group when the going gets toasty. A tad shy on ammo though

Nice build, I swapped the arm mounted lasers for erSLs and the one in the head for an erML. The small lasers have decent range and cycle quickly, which for me is more useful when the fighting gets cozy. The erML is for some quick damage at mid-range when the opportunity presents itself. The build also leaves some room for ams.

Good hunting,

I'm using a similar build. Just with one less Headsink and JJ instead. It really is a very good build for the marauder. I just got it during the 50% sale. It's not mastered yet but it already feels like a perfect mech

What are the best BH builds nowadays? Mine is STD300 + UAC20 + 6xERML + 1xJJ, the rest is heatsinks (2 tons of ammo). This is what I've had for many years and still seems to work well, but I wonder if the changes in the game since then warrant a different build. And, if nothing else, some variety would be nice. I tried swapping ERML for the regular ML, seems to also work well. I'm often running out of ammo, so I might try to swap one DHS for extra ammo, but this build is pretty hot as it is. Or maybe drop one laser for extra ammo, would reduce heat also.

Perhaps something like this, one less med laser and DHS but more ammo and cooler running.

Intersting! Why did you change the STD engine for Light of the same rating? It looks like all the difference is extra 0.5 ton of ammo and +4 armor on each leg, seems to not be worth it. But I think you're right otherwise, your build is much better.

Oh, nice, thank you! I know about GrimMechs and I know they only have info on a very small number of mechs right now, but I totally missed the database.

I know this is a little late to the party but I have found the Binary Laser Cannon has benefited a couple Marauder builds with the BHII being one of them.

Thank you, I like this build quite a lot! I also tried to "improve" it in some way, but ultimately had to agree that your combination of weapons is indeed the one and only best choice.

But binarys feel like such an waste of an hero. 10% range and tanky...low arms. Boring.

For binarys take the marauder 4a. Bh AC20, snubs, small laser.

Ignatius is quite right; the BH2 is much better served with a SNAC Loadout. Sure, you can make Binaries work, but you're better served with a different chassis (such as the Marauder II - 4A) so you don't have to try long-range poking from arm mounts. You can also just Go Gauss/PPC for side-peeking, if that's your jam. The HSL will allow you to fire the Gauss Rifle and ERPPCs without a heat penalty, since they're on the Heat Scale list.

I am definitely a fan of the SPPC/AC20 build. I have three BH2 one is the BLC/LL/LG build I listed above, another is this one.
https://mwo.nav-alph...be40c82_MAD-BH2

I prefer to bring the engine down to a LFE 280 with one or two JJ and 4 ML. That extra 20 damage for lower heat output can be a lifesaver and it really helps the alpha. As long as I have 60 kph I feel I can maneuver effectively, especially with at least one JJ.

The BLC/LL/LG is a different animal. That is fighting mostly at 500+ meter range. Like all Marauders it can brawl but this build is not meant to be that.

Comparisons between the MAD BH2 at 75 tons and a 100 ton Marauder II are apples and oranges. Those 25 tons count for alot.

I also am not a fan of the ERPPC/Gauss build. While I can peek with the BLC/LL/LG build I also can achieve a respectable rate of fire and battle up close more effectively when things get there I feel. Just my preference. I am not looking to 1,000 meter peek but 600 meter engage.

I feel the same way. I've never been a fan of the gauss charge mechanism, and while I can work it okay, timing a Gauss + PPC volley is a little irksome. So I prefer gauss by themselves or lasers at 600m. Posted Image

Oh, my Bounty Hunter is set up with a SNAC build, don't get me wrong. Long-range trade builds are fun once you get used to them, but I think you can do that better with other 'mechs.

Similarly, though, there are a lot of similar 'mechs that do midrange laser trading better as well.

My thing is the 75 ton Marauder is my FAVORITE chassis.

2 MAD-3R
2 MAD-5D
1 MAD-5M
3 MAD-BH2
1 MAD-9M(S)

1 MAD-B(LGD)

AC20 MAD? Got it
RAC MAD? Got it
LBX MAD? Got it
LRM MAD? Got it
SRM MAD? Got it
MRM MAD? Got it
Gauss MAD? Got it
UAC MAD? Got it

You could say I have Mad Love.

I think I need to get another 9M...

oh, and if we are talking new tech MADs... the 5D has a perfect hardpoint for a BLC to pair up with a MRM40 on the other side and 4 ERML.

Eh, I guess you could... But MRMs and BLC are a rough pairing. You have to lead the MRMs, so you can't fire the BLC at the same time if you're leading a target - meaning a long stare time against anything not standing still.

Understandable. Unless I am shooting at a stationary, closing, or retreating target I tend to let the missiles go with lead then fire the BLC as I can keep the laser on the target as the missiles impact.

You other option is HPPC, MRM40, 4ERML
https://mwo.nav-alph...29cc1aaa_MAD-5D
The HPPC is faster than the MRMs but to be fair when you fire MRMs at a moving target you are basically spraying the area.
