Are Tier One Matches Always This Horrible?

I, on the other hand, do not feel that matches decrease in quality as more experienced players are introduced to the match. I like matches where everyone already has a familiarity with the game, and I don't require the harvest of inexperienced players to enjoy myself.

I'm going to have to disagree. I think all stats except W/L should be divorced from any rating system. If you win a lot more than you lose, then you are doing something right.
I'd rather have a mascot with a very high win percentage over anyone with very high damage and kill stats but lose a lot more than winning.

Okay, I see one person with a founder tag on each team, one person with a Resistance tag on each team, and everyone else is either untagged or has a recently available package. That's evidence that the game put forward SOME kind of effort at distributing experienced players.
Sorry about your luck, though, we all get drops like that in the solo queue. Which is why i love the group queue. Better play experience.

I find you just open yourself up to a second region, I do OCE (~50 ping) and NA (~250 ping), half the time it forces people with the same settings onto OCE servers, half the time you end up on an average ping server. Usually takes at most a minute to get in during almost any time of the day.
No way can I play NA anymore. I used to be able up to 10 months ago but hit reg is getting more and more garbage again in this game, even oceanic, recently it seems mostly lasers just dont register like they are supposed to, the ussual ppc and and some srms etc.

So unfortunately yeah, so far in my experience Tier 1 gameplay sucks.
I can agree.
There is no MM.

When player skill gets good enough, people kill mechs fast and efficiently. That is why stomps get more regular in tier 1.
When two comp teams scrims, stomps are actually quite common. It doesnt take too many mistakes after the other team can just roll over the other one. Force in numbers and so on.

tl;dr: the "good games" only happen, if both teams equally bad.

The better the players, the higher the chance that a first-kill lead will snowball into a 12-2 or 12-3.
Match results often come down to which team loses its top players first.
Tight matches often result from all the heavy-hitters dying first, leaving the potatoes to whittle each other to stubs.

Frequently, it's not even the red team played better. It's "the red team got 1-3 good players who scored 75% of the kills/damage".
I actually get embarrassed when I end up with 4 KMDD/kills+ and realize most of my team scored 200 or less. Especially if we lose.
Gotta carry harder, right?

Yes it is very common. Most of the time you'll either get stomped or be on the team doing the stomping.

Of course, it was early morning NA so it was only a few decent players, and whoever got them curbstomped the other guys.

My Scorch has a 2.9 W/L after 51 games so far, Im sure it'll level off, but I bet it will remain positive indefinitely.
On the other hand my Zeus, with 70+ games played, has a paltry 0.89 W/L....
So clearly when I pick my hipster\bad mechs I seriously hurt my W\L ration
My only mech with over 600 games, my EXE, has a decent 1.42 W\L
In fact it looks like I win in clan tech, and lose in IS tech
