Since I've always been one for sneaking around enemy lines combined with the diminishing ability to stay hidden in this game, I've devised a still expanding guide to becoming a sp00ky ghost.

Posted Image

This is a crucial component to staying hidden. Get rid of any flashy colors whether it be a feature of the 'mech or your own design.

Posted Image

The obvious stuff. You of course need an ECM capable 'mech.

Posted Image

When you aren't using stealth armor, you need to still keep that minimal signature. Radar deprivation can be ignored, as it's usefulness depends on whether or not you get spotted.

Posted Image

Posted Image

ALWAYS take the shady route to your victim if you can. Combined with the above steps and enabled stealth armor, you might as well be invisible.

Dark/Shady maps of interest:

Terra Therma
HPG Manifold
Mining Collective
Caustic Valley

Maps with varying times of day can also be helpful, as night time can best hide you ANYWHERE.

Now go sp00k some people!

I use black on all my mechs as well. Human eyes lock onto lighter color faster than darker color.

Were you that commando painted black with stealth armor that started shooting my back on HPG? I think I was in my Urbanmech. If so, well done. Even after I was calling about you the few assaults nearby payed no attention because they didn't believe me as they didn't see a red blip.

Try a stealth Cataphract with two snubs and a gauss rifle next. You can fire the gauss while in stealth mode and you got enough punch to finish targets off.

Lurk in dark parts of maps? doesnt everyone just set their gamma levels to max to circumvent stuff like that. also black skin on alpine/snow maps, yup dont help that much tbh. Tbh ive already gotten sick of stealth, you cripple yourself more than nything, you cant see target locks from teammates/etc, whatever you are shooting at also doesnt get sent to teammates etc, you cant tag targets, its a pretty annoying and crippling feature just for people to briefly go all johnny solo rambo.

It can help quite well if you have TAG or a NARC, because in those cases, your equipment is getting the target in view for your teammates instead of you. It's pretty potent on Ravens, Enforcers, and sometimes Atlases. Of course, that Atlas doesn't care about locks.

i dont know if i like the loadout. weapons need to also be ninja. either virtually invisible like goose rifles or ac10, or so high alpha that you only need one shot (laser vomit). 8 srm tubes does not quite cut it imho.

upon getting hit the enemy should go wtf, be looking around frantically trying to determine the source of the impact. failing to do so, they will eitheer resume what they were doing or panic and flee towards the bulk of the team. in ether case another shot to the spine is in order.

Dark blues can also help here- breaking up your outline is useful, and black-on-black is more eye-catching in some cases than what can appear to brief glances to be nothing more than a bit of wall/sky vs. a robot-sized shadow.

SRM's are a good choice for ninja tickles - I have tried the SNPPC, but damage isn't as good as missiles.
I like where you're going with this project - rocket launcher may be a nice touch? :D

I prefer urban camp; mix of dark tones - especially in HPG or whatever that dark purpley rock map (it's margarita day, leave me alone!).

I'm going to dust off my stepchild Spider 5D, because I can get the HPPC and Stealth going (probably only get one or two shots off before you need to turn tail).

SRMs can work fine if you use them in conjunction with other attacks. Like dropping an airstrike on the ground and launching a few missiles before the hit. Do a bit extra armor to the back while the airstrike masks your hits.

Didn't really think much of Stealth Armor when I tried it, but seeing it used by other players I think it's an interesting and useful addition to the game. It's good to have more options that make for unique game-play.

As someone who has been out to sea since well before stealth armor was released, I'd love to know what builds are currently running well with it and how people are working with the heat and weight limits. I wanted to finally do a stealth-scout with NARC and energy weapons but size limitations means that damage output suffers greatly. The RVN-3L seems to have some good things going for it, and I've yet to figure out a competent build for stealth armor LCT beside minimal lasers.

Any thoughts?

Take heat efficiency in mind. If you're going purely offensive, do SRM's. If you intend to do information warfare, a few med pulse on the Raven will do. The cost of information warfare is the damage output.

Unless the map is cold, I suggest not making opening shots on an opponent while SA is engaged. Your heat cap will reach max before your fight ends, leaving you vulnerable.

As far as builds go, I've only played around with the Commando so far. Not a lot of people are playing with stealth armor so this is interesting territory. Being effectively sneaky in this game hasn't been possible for years until maybe now.

I would suggest twin light PPC's arm mounted for the Spider 5D. Less heat, better firing rate. HPPC, although doing 5 more damage, incurs too much heat, too much tonnage, and a longer cycle. They're not great when using only one of them.
