but Airstrike should be usable by a mech who has a Command Console and those who have command console can go into a top view mode and point where to lay down the airtillery.
while going into top view mode the mech is vulnerable for attacks as it cannot move.

i know at least one streamer who is going to shelf MWO for awhile due to the strikes .
i don't blame them , when you loose due to a strike and not a FIGHT with something that takes little to do so much damage . Its the longest reaching weapon in the game with no AUDIO warning just a visual which in most cases is out of your vision 99% of the time
With the tree you can carry more in consumables which basically means all mechs carry a strike now sometimes more , thats 12 to 24 possible strikes available in a given match
Before the tree you had to make a choice , cool shot , uav or strike depending on the mech consumable slots , now you can have it all with the skill tree . which brings us to our current state . strikes everywhere

First lance of fast mechs come in. Caught an arty strike with my lance. Wasn't too bad. Kept pushing forward and harassing the speedy mechs. Turn the corner? Ate another arty strike. i went from 80% to 45% on the second strike. Totally striped of armor front and back. Orange/yellow internals. Fine,it happens.
And then ANOTHER arty strike when we fall back to better cover and lose an ST and an arm,now Im cherry red everywhere(legs have armor) and then I get derped trying to roll the damage.
Yeah,no 3 arty strikes in the span of 2 and a half minutes is way too much.

I think simply limit each player to their choice of 1 strike (either air or arty) and increase the global cool down by 2 or 3 times.
The threat to keep down the death ballers will still be there, but this would reduce the spam.

You HAVE to deploy a UAV before an artillery strike. AND you have to have a command console to drop the artillery inside the UAV spotting range.
