OK, that is a trick question....because they all pretty much stink after playing them for the 1000th time. Good thing we have 3-4 that come up and are picked, maybe we should just have 1 map...make it simpler right? Thanks PGI, soon I will have no desire to play this game anymore, keep up the good work!!

Is it PGI's fault or the players for picking the same maps over and over again?

Not that we couldn't use some more maps, or rebuilds/variants of same. Even destructible walls are enough to alter how a map plays, and we have stuff like that with Incursion.

Some maps are worse in some modes. Incursion is bad on HPG and Grim because it is a double set of walls to get out of which is confusing. Domination is bad in Crimson because they park the trailers in the middle of the street and Mayor McBullets can't get through. Assault is bad in Polar because I swear I have seen two teams never make contact, fastest NASCAR won.

Well, they could just remove voting. Dictatorship by algorithm is preferable to democracy, it seems.

Random map selection, make it happen.

It did happen. People hated it and demanded map selection.

And now we have people hating map voting, and are demanding algorithms.

The cycle continues.

For me it had to be Forest Colony.
80% of the map never gets used, it tanks my FPS compared to other maps, and I have a 1700X & 1070.

I also feel like its impossible to see anything with bushes the size of houses and trees the size of skyscrapers.

I also don't like it because I miss my waterfall inside a cave dammit.

Polar Highland Domination... nough said.

Edit; Actually, that's the second worst to play. Thee worst to play is Grim Plexus Domination. One entire side the teams are always to ****ing passive and never even try to get into the circle. Honestly it needs to be adjusted just like Alpine was.

Incursion on Tourmaline or Polar, but frankly most large maps. Base rush every time. At least the matches are short....unless of course you decide to stay at or near your own base and so does the enemy.

God I hate that mode on the bigger maps.

As far as a pure worst map in any/all circumstances? Maybe Alpine? Only because it gives certain builds a distinct advantage and other builds (namely short range, and more especially slow short range builds) a distinct disadvantage. Most other maps you can almost always compensate for the conditions no matter how bad your build is for the environment, or they affect (both positively and negatively) a narrower band of builds to a lesser extent.

Plus Alpine matches nearly always play out the exact same way. Sure, most maps play mostly the same way, but Alpine takes it to the extreme: someone gets the mountain and the other team tries to position around the base to knock them off of it. Its limiting AND boring, and add time consuming to that as well. The scale of the thing requires a few minutes of intro slog (similar to Polar) just to get to the inevitable positions so it can play out as always.

Yeah...that map gets my vote.

Honestly one of the most unique terrain bits MWO ever had.

Plexus but ONLY on Domination

Otherwise Alpine

edit/ps: Please move the Domination point on Plexus!

WORST: Forest colony.

So hard to see anything because of shrubbery. Map is too big. Old forest colony was better, got bad ever since they 'remade' it.

Best: Mining collective (stay tf away from this map !)

Quite hard to answer. It all depends on not only the map, but also the mode and the mech/loadout. Personally I dislike both Forest and Bog no matter the mode or my loadout.

That's my #1 gripe with all map designs - it's the scale. There is not one moment on forest colony where you feel like you're in a giant robot, as all the shrubbery and tree life dwarfs the tallest of mechs.

It''s not just forest colony either - it's almost all maps that feel like the scaling is wayyy off.

Huh, really? Bog is one of my favorites.

OP seems frustrated with stale map selection. Understandable.

Obligatory statement: The roadmap says new maps are coming!!! Golly gee whiz, "Looking Ahead" indeed!

First off: they arent redwood trees. they are magical giant galactic space trees from another planet.
Second: I've visited the largest tree in the world, AND the redwood forests. None of them are anywhere near as large as the trees on forest colony, considering the sheer scale of a mech.
Third: 'Forests' has only one r

They need to remove map voting immediately. So many maps are never picked and the coldest ones almost always win. It's very frustrating playing HPG Uplink seven times in a row since that map ALWAYS wins if it's an option because barely anyone actually runs enough heatsinks.
