New Civil War Tech....that Didn't Quite Make It In.

While significantly heavier than standard ACs, they also have considerably longer reach (and in MWO, velocity. It's in the name.) Would have given the IS another distance-poking option.

The IS gets steath armor, but they also managed an upgrade to the Beagle that cuts through it. A larger, more powerful active probing system that can peel through ECM which most IS missile boats would be delighted to have.
What "new-not-yet tech" caught your eye that you think would be easily added to MWO?

Large, Medium, and smol. Extra heat, but extra range. Came out well within the time jump period.
Then we have the HAG 20 and 30. The 40 didn't come out until just after the time jump. 20 and 30, however, are fair game.
Reactive and Reflective armor would be phenomenal to add, as well. Across both tech lines, it would create a self balancing mechanism to counter specific builds. Is the current meta boating lasers? Go reflective to significantly reduce the effectiveness of that. Too many missiles? Go reactive. Of course, if you're hit by something it isn't designed to counter, expect to feel it. Big time.

Hm, only the prototypes are well within the timejump period... the actual production of the ER pulse lasers dates to 3082 and that's deep in the Jihad era.
Sarna unfortunately mixes up prototype and production dates a lot, so it is better to check the books. The Universal Technology Advancement table in Interstellar Ops is the most up-to-date source for that.

Actually, LHS are in regular production since 3051. And I think they should not be a quirk, they should be a tech, even if it may be harder to balance.

As for LHS, one way I can think to balance them is to look back at the Hellsinger, when she wasn't (still is?) effected by external heat effects.... Perhaps make that a built in ability to LHS?

A 12 ton AC5 makes even the Light Gauss Rifle look appealing.

Magshot (3072) - Light, low damage Gauss weapon.
Light AC (3068) - Like RACs, they come in flavours 2 or 5. Lighter, shorter ranged, smaller (5 only) ACs.
Bombast Laser (3064+) - A laser with Gauss charge and variable damage depending upon charge held? GIEF NAOW PLZ!
Chemical Lasers (3059) - IS-level-damage lasers for the Clans, for less heat, with the draw back of ammo.
Multi-Missile Launcher (3068) - IS ATMs, I think?
Then a few years ahead (Wobby territory?)
Silver Bullet Gauss (3078) - LBX Gauss? Sure, why not!
X-Pulse Lasers (3078) - To compete with Clan ERPLs.
Enhanced ERPPC (2823) - Technically extinct, but let's get Clanners another PPC to play with. Maybe lower the heat, too.
Binary Laser Cannon (2812) - It's like an IS version of the HLL... kinda...

What we should have in the game is interchangeable ammo for the clans LBXs like slugs since I don't like the burst fire clan auto cannons. We also have Caseless ammo for the Inner Sphere which would be a good excuse for both sides to have unique interchangeable ammo types.

Would love those, especially the armor types. The meta would kinda adapt itself. Reactive are for both missiles and ballistics. Are reflective for PPC too, since they are ballistic/ energy hybrid, sortof?
ER pulse lasers. One second I thought of X - pulse lasers...

Ammo switching is right out too, because PGI code is lostech. Otherwise, NARC explosive pods FTW!

We also missed the opportunity for Clanners to win the flamewars (briefly), as 3067 marks the first ER and heavy flamers...but the IS doesn't get them till later.

Mmm. War crimes, the weapon system.

I don't think I was the only person prior to the weapon list who was trumpeting how awesome LACs would be. Seriously, would have helped so man light/medium mechs with too many ballistic mounts.

I tried to start a forum petition, but no, only a few people wanted to sign it.
Bet you all are regretting it now. The Bombast Laser is the greatest, most interesting, most important weapon of all times.

also PGI seems reluctant to add in things defined as Experimental Tech,
which i can see why in some instances but not others,

3 ton weapon that does 4 damage at 450m... While we have 3 ton weapons that do 10 damage at 450m (MRMs).

4 damage to a single location, and it also can fire the normal NARC beacons, meaning you're not denying yourself all the firepower of the hardpoint to pod targets for LRMs, nor feel useless if nobody's on your team to take advantage of it.
