Road Map Undelivered. A "light" Patch That Doesn't Fix Unresolved Issues From The Last Patch. The Lack Of Momentum Is Concerning.

EDIT:

I was just reminded that the "June, July and Beyond" Road Map contains these commitments for August ... none of which were delivered.

Posted Image

PGI's apparent apathy at this point is concerning.
  • "road map" not delivered on.
  • a patch even they describe as "light", despite the prior patch being partly-delivered.
  • still no fix to the Civil War Mech animations.
  • still no new laser colors for lasers that were out a month ago.
  • still no "Event System" to enable the civil war matches that were supposed to be in the "Civil War" patch.
  • still no meaningful FP map/mechanics update to reflect the civil war.
  • still missing weapon models from the prior patch.
  • still no new new maps, which have allegedly been 'in development' for months.
  • still no IK (LOL).
Just more Mech Packs.

I'm sorry, but for the first time in literally thousands of dollars worth of Mech Pack pre-orders I think I am going to have to cancel my 'Escalation' Mech Pack.

If PGI isn't going to deliver on their development priorities, then I'd be crazy to spend more money on it.

I was thinking the same thing. Fair is fair. I think we're due for some heads up of what we can look forward to.

I hope they will release a new map and don't focus too much on polishing old maps for competitive play (mwo finals). Since they went that path last year we didn't got a new map.

I think they are probably still discussing and deciding on what to do, last I heard there was a lot of talk on one of the streams about Solaris and future development of that with 1v1`s 2v2`s FFA`s etc. There was also talk of new maps in development so im quite curious to see how thats all going.

Does anyone really expect anything other than mech packs from pgi at this point? No matter how low you set your expectations pgi will find a way to beat it and go lower. mw5 is vaporware until I have a playable demo installed on my pc and I'm expecting it to be shovel ware quality. The best demo I've ever played was the first metal gear solid on playstation. You got everything up to anderson's death. I spent so many hours on the heliport by the boxes tormenting that soldier. Who's footprints are these?! If only pgi were capable of making such a great demo.

Dota 2 just had their best player lose to an AI bot. And our AI fail atlas can't even walk down a path without glitching out.

Why would they still be discussing and deciding a full month after the last patch... especially when they just dropped a patch that doesn't even fully deliver on the missing elements from the last patch?

For new maps to have been 'in development' for MWO as long as they have claimed, they must be creating them a pixel at a time.

Irrational hope that things will get better?
Some sick fantasy that PGI will suddenly surprise us with quality?
Delusion?
Stockholm Syndrome?
No other way to be assured of a continued stream of quality Mechporn?

Sorry PGI, but for the first time in literally thousands of dollars worth of Mech Pack pre-orders I think I will cancel my 'Escalation' Mech Pack.

If you can't be bothered making even a minimal effort at developing your only product, then I'd have to be an idiot to spend more money on it.

That's fine guys. You can either donate directly to PGI freely, or fail to fund them.

The first option kind of works, but I would rather receive something in exchange for my payments. You can freely donate if you wish.
The second option delays *all* development, and would further push back everything you want done.

They forgot about MechCon in December when they made that road map. You can expect radio silence for the next four months.

I saw mine, less than a grid away from the dropship, take a 90degree turn away from it and cross 2 adjacent grid before being taken out. True story.

Stockholm's, that's it.

Also I saw a pretty cool Mech demo for VR up on Steam

I actually patched MWO about a week ago. Had to download 17 gb, since I haven't played for months. I launched the game, started looking around in the Mechlab. I figured there wasn't really a lot of new content, beyond the new tech. Maybe there would at least be a few cool new mechs for me to buy with C-bills?

Not really. So without any new content to interest me, not even some interesting new mechs, I just quit the game without launching. Maybe I'll come back for the Cougar in November, though I doubt it.

Here's a question: If PGI doesn't have the talent they need to create new MWO maps, to fix old issues like IK, or make some decent, functional animations for their new mech packs (the only area where they can consistently deliver new 'content'), then how the hell are they going to deliver MW5? Let alone MW5 as Russ Bullock described it, with so many promised features that it makes MWO look like Tetris.

Development is already pretty damn "delayed". At this point, withholding funds may be the only way to see some meaningful changes being made in this game. PGI is a company, not a hobo on unemployment benefits. If they want money for maple syrup, they need to start making more useful content than "more meks".

In all seriousness, the fact that they put the Madcat Mk2 out already is a bad omen. I would've saved that for my last ditch "Ace in the hole" "Get out of Jail" card, but they just used it. Either that means they feel very confident in the upcoming Mechpack releases to come, or they DID just use their "Ace in the Hole" to bolster dwindling resources/income. I don't think there's another mech that will be able to give them such a quick and massive influx of cash like the MC Mk2 just did, so....I hope it was worth it.

Apathy or work load? How long did it to take them to wring out the basic CW mode? Not surprising that it's taking so long to do special events and other developments. Usually takes them 3 months to add a small feature. The more complicated it is, such as IK, the more it gets delayed.

But we are at least owed an updated road map.
