It was in our hearts. I'm rather excited about Solaris coming in myself, but I've not made any posts on the forum about it, rather just telling all my friends who have also been waiting for it.
Still, its in early 2018, about half a year away, so I'm trying to not get super excited over it to make the wait go by faster.

wanna know when it was the first time Russ announced Solaris?
Tip: it's been in an April town hall, announcing it for late November, maybe December.
Now tell me the year

Ok so it’s more buckets... and could you say you want it over...
Our own customizable hanger.
Our own drop ship.
Our own unit base and planet.
Our own mission objectives via our contracted faction.
Our own pilot customizations.
Solaris will not add depth it will just divide the player base more.
This game is in terrible need of a new engine. Yet instead we’re just going to keep adding buckets?

What’s is being added in Solaris that’s any different from the 1v1 master challenge? No replay and a view mode only available to high end ELO matches? No betting. More cries about balance. I just don’t see the feature helping MWO gain popularity.
Just another bucket.
I’m tired of hearing we can’t add this feature due to the engines limitations.
A lot of these features keep coming as half baked because limitations. Sounds like it’s time to actually being committed to mwo and update the engine. As it stands now. The moment mw5 is out I’m never coming back to mwo. Or spending money on it anymore.

I can say that I definitely want Solaris over all those other things you listed. Infact I really don't care much about those things you listed at all. Like, I came here to shoot some mechs, not walk around a hanger or customize a dropship that I don't get to use for anything or customize a pilot who no one even sees. I don't even see why the game really needs an engine update, it works fine as is. You're also getting hangers you can walk around in anyway, so just be happy.
I've just been wanting a quick 1v1 and small scale battle gamemode that I can join in and not rely on any team but still get some action in without setting aside a large amount of time in the day. I'd love to be able to just pump out a few 1v1s in a row for the day and get some cbills for it while I'm at it.
Also, I'm fine with more buckets, I've said it before that putting all these people with different wants into one single bucket will only cause more people to be unhappy and cause the playerbase to continue to decline. Giving players completely new options and more options that they can choose makes more people happy and separates people who have different wants from each other. It wouldn't even be all too bad on the matchmaker since they're making quickplay 8v8.

Why do you think I'm not getting ultra excited about it, I know Solaris has been in the works for over a year now.

GG
PGI is so lucky to have hardcore BT fans as players of their game, nobody else would keep a game afloat this long were management decisions this bad are par for the course.

The game mode is and was coming regardless. Why act or tell us to post if we want or not if it was coming anyway.
Some players like going in circles day in and day out. Others look for a reason to do the same thing everyday.
You don’t seem like the social type. So it’s no surprise the features I listed don’t appeal to you.
I just don’t see where or why there is development time for a game mode that we have had since closed beta.

My only gripe about Solaris is it takes resources away from new maps which is needed for everyone, not just the small section who want to go 1v1.
I think Solaris will ultimately fail because there just won't be enough interest without some big time event rewards which will then pull people out of QP during those events.

I agree more options are nice, but we already have Solaris. Make a new bucket named Solaris (some xml editing) use the 1v1 maps in the game already. Copy paste mm from quick play but separate that score from quick play.
Look Solaris is now done with a few days of work.

would be cool, but where would we see it?
we dont really see the out side of the Drop ship when we drop,
maybe a Unit Drop Ship? for Comp Drops, that would be cool,

would love this for FP, and im hoping we see something like this,
perhaps with the Event system this can be a thing to work toward,

coming with the new Event System, which should add much more Lore to MWO,
its been really hyped up so im hopeful but we wont know until the RoadMap or Next Months PatchNotes,

i disagree, depending how it all plays out 2v2 could become a fun tool for Streaming,
E-Sports play 2v2 could be cool, also Russ said he would be open to getting George Ledoux,

i agree completely, and im sure youve seen me in most Q&As asking if their going to announce it,
MWO could really benefit greatly from a move to Unreal4, and it would also help with some simple AI work,

Or Bolt-Ons. Or wandering around in a hangar.
I'd be much more interested in them fixing Faction Play and the awful QP matchmaking/tier system.

The event system will not be missions. I’m confident it will be the website layout added in game.
The hanger seemed extremely barebones... to the point of why bother. I hope I’m wrong but it really sounded like a copy paste of the code in the academy.
Add Solaris... BUT don’t act like it’s some huge feature. I don’t even see what’s new about it. Other than stealing map development.

Great question. I think the answers are:
Matchmaking. The inexperienced shouldn't be facing off against the experienced, and especially not large groups of the experienced. (And before anyone says 'low population', the main reason there is low population is because of the imbalanced matches, caused by the lack of matchmaker.)
Make it worthwhile. Revise incentives and rewards, both for playing, and for taking planets. People need reasons to play FP beyond QP.
Fix the maps, especially the Siege Maps. I don't think I need to say further on the problems the 'attack lane' designs of some of these cause.
Introduce Logistics. FP should be an Eve Online-like experience. In fact, I think we'd pick up a lot of serious long-term players if it was.
These would be my top focus areas. But there are lots of tweaks, which include ways to get people to stop camping in their drop zones, removing some of the more obvious lop-sided maps/mode combinations.
