For the most part, clan mechs come with all the stuff IS can put on so when you work it out they are pretty much the same price.

As a merc for a while now I have played both sides and know them very well. Clans are actually better for new starters but to become the best pilot you can become you need to be able to do both, not just one side.

That being said, if you had 2 pilots start the game at the same time, one IS and one Clan, I would give the edge in piloting to the IS person 12 months down the track, as it is harder with harder decisions to be made on the IS side then on clans side.
same price?? HELLLL NOOOOOOOOOO clan mechs are waaaaaaaay more expensive than IS mechs.

Maddog prime: 11,886,819
Dragon: 4,827,599 FF 300,000 Endo 60,000 Grand total; 5,187,555

throw in an XL 300; 4,900,000

-9187559

still cheaper by 2,699,260

conclusion; Dragon is cheaper.

(whoops double post.)

You forgot the DHS, it cost like 1,5 mil

Yes MadDog still more expensive. But not 'waaaaaayyyy more expensive' as you said.

I've brought many of my Clan omnimechs with 65% price during sales. That really helped me. Now it wouldn't matter anymore as I'm spamming strikes, buying LFE engines and still maitaining good balance of cbills.

Don't have sales on engines or upgrades. The prices for IS battlemechs and Clan omnimechs are roughly equal I think, but additional costs after buying the mech, are small for Clan mechs. With in particular with Stalkers I've had, I've had to toggle endo on and off when I've changed loadouts. With omnimechs you just buy new pods and you can equip/unequip them at will.

I think Clan battlemechs are little expensive as you likely need to take another engine yet. The stock ones are usually not great, even if XL.

Kitties again ...
Shadows again ...

´tis gettin´ boring ...

Don´t go into the sharkpool if youre not prepared to lose your legs, arms, head or in short : your life .
6P´s, OP, just 6P´s .
Proper preparation prevents piss poor performance .
Ain´t that hard, ain´t it ?

P.s.: Dante ? No, both sides have terrifying loadouts, they just need to be played differently ...

You know what I mean.

You implied something. So I wondered would you like to share it in more detail.

I may be reaching here, but I assume he means the teams listed actually play as teams, so they don't get rolled or have 1/3 of the team eject as soon as the drop starts like alot of mixed or pug teams do.

Should I link in my thread to highlight what most team players do?

No but we certainly did have threads begging PGI to drop IS tonnage from Clanners.

The potato factor for IS pugs seems to much, much higher than for the Clans. In my last match I had one guy barely break 100 damage with 4 mechs. There was another guy who got pissy at the drop caller for calling him out for not pushing with the rest of the team, and he barely broke 400.

(whoops double post.)

prices are identical for IS and Clan. You have to pay per tone for armour. engine, weapons, ammo, heatsinks.
Weapons of MDD-prime are 2lrm 20 (1mln) 2 erllpl (700k) 2 ermpl (240k).Altogether 1940k.
Dragon 1N 1ac5(250k), 1lrm10(200k), 2ml(160k). Alltogether 610k.
Difference in engine 4900k -1800k=3100k
difference in armour (standard vs ferro) ~500k( since it is price per tone you get different costs depending how much armour you carry)
difference in heatsinks 1500k. If you assign same tonnage armour, same weapons (there are price exceptions-for example c-ac weapons) etc. the price of IS mech will be exactly the same as clan.

Clan and IS are the same cost -

however Clan is flat out better for the money. Compare CXL with ISXL.

Compare Clan DHS with IS DHS. Endo/Ferro, etc.

Clan tech is straight up better. We know this, we've known it for years.

PGI has always refused to fix it because they don't want to ruin 'what makes Clan special' -

which is to say, being better tech. Clans were always a toy for munchkins. Munchkins not only have money but are looking for advantages they can buy with money instead of skill so they're a great market. That's why P2W models exist. MWO makes that tech available for in game currency but balance itself is still off. Not as bad as it has been, but it's still off. The tech buff that the IS got that was supposed to fix that was nerfed into the ground, making it largely irrelevant.

Clan mech is still faster, higher alpha, better cooling, better range as a given rule. Better able to get into position, do the damage and sustain it than IS mechs. IS XL death on ST loss wipes out any structure advantage the IS has for total HP and without matching the weight savings you're getting 8-12 extra health on hit locations in return for 20 less points of damage per alpha or huge gaps in cooling. Often alongside 10-20% slower speed.

In FW the balance is closer due to IS tonnage advantage. However better mobility = control of the battlefield and engagement and in the end that trumps the tonnage.

The best teams in FW (or comp for that matter) play Clan mechs both for ranged poke and for brawling. A lot of mercs switch back and forth just for the variety but universally they play Clans to wrack up wins. No few have gone loyalist with the new factions to max out LP. You'll notice the top tier merc teams almost universally went Clan loyalist to do that - even though almost no merc units have every IS faction LP gain maxed.

Why do you think that is?

'Cause they're wimps..... :P

THIS is why so many of these complaints exist, the reasonably skillled units/players stack one side and then roll over the other side. TBH it's why I enjoy playing the underdog....I'm Scottish, it's genetic ;)

True. You did vote to stay in the UK, who then promptly decided to **** you by voting to leave the EU.

Honestly I expect most Scots saw that, just muttered "Huh. Figures." Then went back to complaining about the weather.

Units like playing other units. However units are comprised of players, all of whom want fast matches and to play good mechs (usually). You can't force them to play sides they don't want to play. So they will always gravitate to where the best mechs are.

Or where the fastest drops are. We went back to IS this week because 10 minute waits for drops were daft.
