Hello,

With the talk of a new map coming out with destructive physics would anyone like to see an Underground Map in the game?

An underground map for myself would be something that has a single capture point in the center of the map within a solar/great room with a massive ceiling which spans off to multiple entrances. Or possibly several capture points throughout the map.

The map could also have a rail system going through the center of it.

Posted Image

Each entrance that connects to the solar/great room in the center could be at different heights.

Posted Image

There could be paths within the underground map to allow for escape routes similar to maze-like rat tunnels for different sized mechs restricting mechs by width or height.

Posted Image

Leading up to the solar/great room, paths could be separated by columns.

Posted Image

If we have walls, pillars, and structures that can now be destructive then it might be possible to have cave-ins or earthquakes.

Also here is a bit of lore for everyone - Name could be "The Kerensky Mines". Thoughts on a possible name?

Thanks for your time everyone.

I've been saying we should have a large underground cavern/bunker style map. Stalagtites and mites, along with open under ground areas like caverns, or perhaps manmade structures in there as well, like bunkers or the classic SALT MINE! (yes salt mine would be perfect LOL)

It could have lots of places to under shoot, so low slung arms, could actually be an advantage.. I also thought about an indoor mech factory could be cool with lots of the same ideas.. Places smaller mechs could run under, verse JJ mechs always going over ect. Let some different mechs have some advantages verse the damn high hard point hill humpers for a change :)

I think it would be cool to have a fully underground map. But we just need any maps at this point. Game has been around for 4+ years and only about 14 maps?

Would be super cool! LRMs would not be happy though~ Maybe it would ve like the antithesis to Polar, instead of having long sightlines and minimal cover to maximize sniping, it would be sharp corners and tons of cover, basically making it an in-your-face only map, that would be kinda fun

Underground Symmetrical Tunnel network, long adjacent corridors paired with several off branching/connecting halls leading to on/off ramps above to below, vice versa
Above ground rolling hills, primarily open field surrounded by a giant trench ring.
Multiple points of egress to and from above to below.
Where's jjm1 when we need him?

"This isn't a mine... It's a tomb!"

I like this map idea a lot! Lrm players may moan, though.

Just have a few large open little/too cover style rooms or a surface area for lrm shenanigans

Solaris has an underground arena in the Kurita sector (Kobe), Ishiyama. Tunnels and caverns in a man-made mountain with ECM effects on the sensors.

I don't see why not in having something similar, but larger for QP (without Ishiyama's unique ECMish field)

the problem with the caves and tunnels is they are very narrow and it does not take to long for players to realize
stay away

so any future under ground facility I would prefer an under ground rail facility
or even a underground drop ship repair facility

I want 31 century stuff that is possibly populated with animation and stuff
like maybe trains moving through it
or Union class drop ships being lowered

mostly it needs to be wide so players wont avoid the area

umm get closer? they don't go that high if you are in the 200-300m range.

I would also like an underground map, though I personally imagined a factory, mine, forge/smeltery, or drain system.

I'd like to see a map with a lot of low-hanging terrain. Up until now, literally every map has been designed to promote high-mounted hardpoints, but with supportbeams/pipes/stalactites/low-ceilings in the way, we'd see mechs with the lower mounts finally shine.

If you want a mixture of tunnels (narrower, lower "service" types and higher wider "transportation" types) and open "caverns" then the Defiance Industries 'Mech production facilities of Hesperus II for a theme?

Like...

Mining Collective
River City
Crimson Straight
HPG Manifold...

All of those maps pretty much screw LRMs already.

Came to post exactly this. Plenty of cavern style maps in MW3 and the variety was excellent.
