I'd like to see a map with a lot of low-hanging terrain. Up until now, literally every map has been designed to promote high-mounted hardpoints, but with supportbeams/pipes/stalactites/low-ceilings in the way, we'd see mechs with the lower mounts finally shine.



Stalactites could be something that I wouldn't mind seeing. If they were small, wide, and near the ceiling, let's say in the location where the wide columns could be, they could be used as an artillery substitute. Since the ceiling would be so high, the speed and force, along with their shape could provide a decent headshot. Could even block paths.

This is pretty cool. If the map had a continuity factor to it, like if the rail system connected to this facility.

By the way, I mentioned the rail system because of the concept of cave-ins..it keeps the map moving because its a supportive man-made structure.

It's a game and "reality" doesn't need to apply. A neat idea but, imagine if you have a "balanced" mech in a cave...... 1/2 your weapons wouldn't work at all or very well......

Just can't see MWO getting beyond the "tunnel" affect": where, if there is a tunnel (HPG, Crimson Tide, Mining Collective) Assaults always go there and get killed and then the rest of the team loses the match.

Good idea and it might be fun if it was a "portion" of a map you had to navigate.

That's why I brought other concept... a total factory of Skolel MechWorks aka Skobelev MetalWorks on Caph. Atleast it's tied to Amaris Civil War.

Well this is what I thought mining collective would be, and about twice the size.

I doubt very much P.G.I would consider making a map where LRM's can't be used by bad LRM players at least somewhere, though

Good LRM players can make them work on every map even in H.P.G basement.

In "Falcon Rising" Diana Pryde fights for her bloodname inside a huge cavern. I always hoped we'd see a map like that....

Nah but sounds interesting and it might be a good change of scenery
Might make searchlights a thing if its an unlit cave

How about raising the stakes?

Add methods to climb outside, but the planet is really close to its sun and has a surface that will melt your mech in moments. Will you risk destruction by overheat in order to take a shortcut? Or you will fight down below?

heh,.. yea i was thinking about mech 3, one of the semi earlier missions had a indoor cave kinda map. I recall some pretty epic fight a short ways in with some large mech, and 2 other smaller ones..

Though that was also the same map that you could JJ through the roof.. Can't tell you how many times i had to restart the blasted mission because of that :(

Could be a use for a flare launcher if the lighting is minimal, and we could possibly see the cockpit lighting adjustment that we have actually be a tactical thing.

OP: That's a great idea. In addition, the solar room / great hall could have another great room beneath it, that can only savely be reached through the tunnels and caverns, or through falling through some shafts that go straight down (ouch!). Could be difficult on the map, but it would add suspense: You see the red dot / seismic pulse on the map, but you don't see the enemy... he's in the room above you!

Sounds good to me. I'm good with any and all map ideas so long as it's not completely flat and open with no cover and doesn't remove any existing maps (very important)

We had a cave once. It was tiny but it was OUR cave. It was grand getting jammed in there. Mechs stuck, weapons flashing in the dark, once during the real lurmogedon those missiles learned how to turn 90 degrees and chase you into there. Oh the hijinks and joy we had. Such joy we could have once more an.....

OH MY LOOK SHINY NEW MECHPACK!
