Nope, I stay here facepalming when I see people eager to throw money at PGI.

And I'll stay here too when PGI fails to deliver a good MW5 game and instead gives you another minimum viable product... because PGI.

Some of you have been here for 5 years and still belive in PGI...

I didn't say that, but hey, whatever float your boat...

I was wondering about people asking for funding packages for MW5, which is being developed by the same publisher of MWO, which has a long record of failed promises, half baked deliveries and after 5 years is still in developement, lacking features that were promised years ago.

BTW, I don't hate MWO. I'm just sad about the state of the game...

Please don't reward bad behavior. MWO is no longer the sole Battletech product. Give instead to turned based game by Harebrained.

Why not both?
I already backed HBS's BT, but I could use a single player MechWarrior title too.

MW5 Founders package? Let's look at a L/M/H/A package from the 2750 era...

Hermes / Clint / Crusader / Thug

I'd rather just have MW5 come out and be good, though, if I'm honest.

You had me at Clint and Thug.
Mech pack when?

I would definitely pre-purchase if I knew that I could trust PGI. I honestly really hope they pull it off, because I really, really need a good and immersive Mechwarrior game. But remembering PGI's huge plans for MWO and seeing how little they delivered compared to that, it would feel like blowing $100 on lottery tickets.

I'll just wait for the game to be finished, and cross my fingers.

Pre-order exclusive content is the cancer of the gaming industry and we've got people here begging PGI to take their money long before we know a damn thing about MW5.

This isn't even about trusting PGI to deliver a good MechWarrior experience with MW5 - I've probably got more faith in PGI to do so than most because I personally believe that a huge chunk of the issues we have in MWO stems, in one way or another, from trying to conform the BattleTech source material to the nature of competitive PvP shooters. And yet, I still think it makes no sense to ask someone to take your money before you have an idea of what you're paying for.

^ This. I've loved Mechwarrior for 30 years. But I am by no means certain that I will be spending any more money with PGI given their attitude and performance in developing MWO.

BTW, I believe you will all be completely shocked by the price PGI is going to be asking for MW5.

and prolly pgi will be completely shocked by the lowest sales in game industry, if they are going to pump up the price....

Speaking of the price, PGI probably will charge 60 bucks for the game, following typical AAA releases.

Probably digital only, so that's a hard limit of £30 for me. No physical items should mean a lower price, shame the industry disagrees...

Dont buy it... you will regret it.

Well, despite all fails and problems PGI had and maybe still have, i totally did not regret founding MWO so why should i regret buying MW5? For me the core gameplay experience is just right, so i know that PGI is able to deliver a proper MW5 experience for MY taste.

Yes, of cause i would like a far more advanced MWO than it is now, for example with a really cool FP that has it's own metagame and meaning. But even in it's current state, the game brought me several hundred (if not 1000+) hours of fun. And that's what counts in the end when i do a cost/fun breakdown.

But would i buy an MW5 founders package? Probably not, because i usually do only one playthrough on story-based singleplayer games. And for this single playthrough i want the best experience possible, so no early access for me. Posted Image

PGI could make a crosssale for a Mechpack that gives you a MW5-Founder-Mech in both games.
The Mechpack is named Gimmefive containing the Gimmeifve-Hero and 4 other Mechs with Warhorns playing a cool Gimmefivesong by Heffay at 55 Dollar (or 555 for the Golden Edition)...

But pls a better on than this example:

Good point. I am taking the same attitude to Star Citizen. I don't want to get bored playing the parts of it that are released so far. I am waiting til Squadron NNN comes out before playing it.

I believe PGI will aim much higher than that - see what they tried to charge for Transworse.

With MW5, PGI will believe they have an older, cashed-up and largely captive fanbase who will be prepared to pay much more than a traditional AAA title.

You can already see in this thread that, despite PGI's performance in developing MWO, there are already people falling over themselves to throw more money at them for a new title.

That's their choice, of course. Personally, I am going to be a lot more circumspect next time around.

I'm not gonna lie, i'd pay more than 60 bucks if it had Quads in it.

In general, the whole trend of selling people "early access" or "alpa" has been a stain on the gaming industry IMHO.

Sure, it has helped some Indy developers make some good games, but for each of those there are probably 100 trash games that never amount to anything and the so called "developers" get a quick cash grab and never progress the product past alpha stage.

Nowadays the second I see "Early Access" I reflexively click on the first button that gets me away from that page.

Call it a "Founders Package" if you will, but it's still "Early Access" to me, and when you add onto it the name PGI, I'm doubly concerned about what I will get for my money.

Honestly PGI must be pooping themselves worrying if they will have another Transverse on their hands.
