My best performing Mechs continue to be Clan Mechs, just as they have been for years now.

IS Mechs are more competitive than they used to be. But even though they have LFEs now, they simply cannot compete with cXL, lighter weapons and the boating that omnipods enable.

Yes, many IS PUGs are awful. There are fewer Clan PUGs, but they are just as awful... but at least they're in better Mechs.

The gap is a lot closer when you factor in artemis. IS mechs are also better for brawling due to durability quirks + higher agility overall. SRM Cyclops vs Executioner isnt even a contest for example. You can do 6x SRM-6s on a MDD-A, but its not very effective because a pulse boat is going to take out a side torso in two alphas while you spread damage everywhere, and 75 ton IS heavies are more agile than you are.

SRM griffin vs Stormcrow/Huntsman also has a huge edge due to JJs/Shield arms/Durability, so does SRM assassin vs SRM jenner IIC. Assassin vs viper/ice ferret/shadow cat at close range isnt even a contest.

Im actually curious about how much of an effect .5 in spread means for SRMs. 4x SRM-4s vs 3x SRM-6s feels a lot more effective, although that might just be due to the lower cooldown times.

SRM Cyclops vs EXE isn't a good comparison to make for IS vs Clan SRM supremacy since the EXE doesn't have enough missile hardpoints. The Clans simply lack an Assault platform that can load up on SRMs like the Cyclops can. That would change if PGI ever comes out with the Bane and its 8 missile variant. I find the Scorch far scarier to encounter than an SRM Cyclops, and harder to kill.

And I'm not convinced on the supremacy of SRM Griffins. Shield arms are nice and all, but a smart player can simply wait or bait you out by only firing one weapon. Given that Huntsmen can carry up to 8 SRM launchers, it's not like they really lose out on their alpha by firing one launcher out of sequence.

honestly right now a good assassin pilot is scarrier than a Griffin and a Griffin is pretty tough. I'd put it on par with a Huntsman for most cases.

True on the Scorch though. It's a beast. The MKII however, the Deathstrike or even the regular model with 2 Gauss and some lasers (I often run 2 HLL, 2HMLs) just kills whatever whenever.

MAD with laservomit is still a dream-crusher too. Clan has some very powerful assaults right now.

the key is knowing what youre dropping aganced. So example say I'm IS and I know the group I'm facing will most likely have a lot of laser vomit. Bring "quick" durable mech's with a bunch of srm and flamers and get in their face. Each take a target and you won't be getting return fire.

The Retro Arcade warhorn will forever be a reminder to me that picking Inner Sphere loyalist was a mistake. Clan mech's are just too good.
