I am very curious about the CT distribution because the body looks like getting dragon like problems, especially on a 45t mech this seems to be very problematic.

Also, does that mean we get another sexy nvidia fairy like succubus standing item?

Depending on the size of the missile slot(s) on the left torso it could make for a REALLY odd look if the nose gets pushed right and ends up off-set. And I REALLY hope those aren't Rifleman legs. The smaller this mech is the better.

One of the ugliest mechs of all Mechwarrior games. Not quite as bad in MWO as in earlier games, but still fugly. Still, some MWO players don't care if their mech is ugly at all.

The ugliness actually gave me a small rush of nostalgia. Did you guys ever play MW2:Mercs or MW4:Mercs, look at the handful of different mechs you could actually afford, and then try to make a compromise between the most cost-effective mech and the least ugly mechs? Some mechs were tough to turn down, because they gave you a lot of tonnage per c-bill, but they were just so damn ugly. You were like "I don't want the ugly mech, but If I put my NPC pilot in this cheaper mech, he'll probably die on this mission. Ah, f**k it. At least he'll look good as he's dying."

I'm honestly surprised we're not getting a variant ala what the MW4 version could do. The original was 3 single-slot ballistic and 3 single-slot energy spread across the arms and right torso, with a 3 slot missile on the left torso and a 2 slot missile pod. NONE of these variants allow for mounting ballistics of any sort... which is unfortunate because one of the interesting things that lighter mediums can do these days is mount machine guns just like the MW4 version was capable of. When it comes to MW4 mechs, I think PGI should be just as friendly to THAT game's lore and loadouts as it is to the tabletop's. Otherwise our nostalgia is tainted by being a little left out in the cold with our options. It doesn't help that the options presented here are REALLY repetitive as well, there's little room to get inventive.

As a note, though, the hitboxes here will be... interesting. The right and center torsos are actually that entire nose segment plus the cockpit. The CT will be ENTIRELY covered by the right torso when looking at it from the right side. This means it may be fairly good at wiggling to spread damage instead of fully twisting. It's probably just slightly less safe than the Crab when it comes to XL engines, given the left torso is a pretty flat block that will be hard to hide. On the other hand... given the size of alphas these days... it also means you'll have to start shielding your right torso WITH your center torso.

However ugly the Hellspawn may well be, the camos look really really good.

45t, weird CT that will surely be quite easy to shoot (especially with that one big "ear" and generally nothing really new. pass.

That "ear" is part of the arm, so it's not *too* bad. Still a pass for me, though.

At first I was SUPER excited because of the nostalgia... after looking at the variants I can see that there is very little diversity and now I'm sad. I won't be getting this one, sorry PGI.

Well I could always use more IS medium 'mechs.

Granted I'll have to wait (for half a year now?) for it to go up for c-bills.

I bet the IS Templar and Fafnair will be queue for next year. By the way, I want to play any COMSTAR or WoB mechs too...

Pgi admitted no comstar/wobbie mechs, that would require a time jump to 3100+
Fafnir and Templar were both experimental mechs, all destroyed on the battlefield defending their respective manufacturing plants, which were destroyed in the fighting

So, um, not that it's all that important (my purchase sadly is hinging on it) but when are we going to get to see the final art for the "Demon Girl" early adopter item?

Expiring minds want to know...

Sorry, but you seem to be confused...

Re: Fafnir and Templar

They were regular, non-experimental units in widespread use. They are on the RATs for their respective nations in 3067 (FM:U) because they were common enough. And their most famous battles were not anywhere near their production sites. Archon Peter Steiner-Davion e.g. had a Fafnir when defeating Nondi Steiner on Tharkad in 3067; neither was it the only Fafnir, nor was it destroyed, and the Mech was not even produced on same planet.

Re: ComStar and WoB Mechs

All known WoB Mechs were produced before 3100, and while a number of them are impossible in MWO due to the lack of melee (and C3), many are easily possible and well fitting for the FCCW era. See the Toyama for example: produced since 3057 using tech we have in game.
Many ComStar Mechs were also produced well before 3100, and many of them are perfectly possible in MWO. See Grim Reaper e.g.

Highly unlikely we'll see if before the release countdown week, unfortunately.

In general the biggest concern is diversity in hardpoints between variants. The uniqueness of variants should not stand on quirks alone.

Second concern is hitboxes, which ought to be interesting.
