Hello all,

I don't play fw very much, and certainly not since the Light mg 'meta'. How are they performing in that environment?

Good hunting,

MG boats don't do well unless they get a drop on a mech with open components. That goes for CW as well. My MLynx had its share of kills, but only when the opponent is distracted by a threat 3x bigger than my mech. :P

until they addressed the problem all you saw was 70% destroyers and even destroyer VS destroyer they could hardly kill each other it was funny really.

Im not against lights or light pilots im against some lights being so OP in MWO that they just outright destroy the balance of MWO and take away the mechs and loadouts and diversity to have fun.

Ahha, so by your logic, lights are OP, so obviously everyone will be playing those OP lights.

*looks at the current queue*

10% lights. 55% heavies.

Yep, theres the problem right there. Heavies need a nerf, lights need a buff Posted Image

I agree but PGI is to blame because of low armor that don't work and high pinpoint alpha shots. give mechs more armor and take away pinpoint alpha shots lengthen the time between weapon group cycles and we might be actually playing a BattleTech game.

We aren't playing a BattleTech game though, we are playing a First Person Shooter set in the BattleTech universe.

If I have to do that I might as well just play my Founders account and comp play which has also become very boring or just quit playing and supporting MWO.

So you're a Founder, presumably with hundreds of hours of experience in this game, and yet you made the very basic mistake of getting caught outside of your optimal combat situation by players that exploited your weaknesses ?

I'm a bad player by most standards, I've got caught like that numerous times, but I know that *I* am to blame in those situations.

After reading through the thread I've found the problem.

IT'S YOU.

You brought a **** loadout that can't defend itself against lights, you where alone and then get killed by lights. It's not the lights fault you're incompetent.

Actually pal IM one of the top players in World of Warship and WOT and for the longest time destroyers were very OP compared to larger ships because they had the same problem some lights in MWO had the hitreg on them were so bad you just could not get good hits on them so please don't play like you know **** about MWO or World of Warships or WOT.

Don't you love it when a MWO pundit seems to think they know everything about you???

My Brother is a WoW guru and his ex-FPS competitive shooter team are just now starting to play together again in WoW.... Looked boring to me because I like BB's..... One game at a time.

Ignore them King Cobra, or invite them to drop with you in WoW/WoT's and see what they can or can not do ! Eh !

Terribads gonna Terribad

http://leaderboard.i...Cobra%0D%0Aasym

Note the small amount of Lights played, and the high amount of complaints
The terribly low AMS
The absolutely Terribad Kd and WL

These are high tier Potatos, who should be ignored when they say: "Light mechs are OP!" because they are terrible at shooting robots (the whole point of the game)

While shitereg is a thing, it is not a big thing. If you shoot a robot, it will die
If you don't shoot robots (as the two Average Match Scores obviously show) they will not die, and will be Terribad as a result

So I just checked all the Warhammers in the MechLab ... all of them have at least two Energy hardpoints in the arms.

One less ton of LRM ammo (not even talking about the fact that 3 LRM5s look inneficient to me) to put 1 Small Laser in each arm, and suddenly you can actually defend yourself against Lights.

Better yet, ditch the LRMs for SRMs or Streaks, and Lights will *FLEE* before you.

Have to agree with Reaver2145, the problem is not the Lights, it's you.

Or if you want a sniper build that can defend against lights, drop those silly LRM 5s and put on streaks.

Hardly a 'meta' build, but if you really are that scared of tiny little lights, it will make light pilots think twice about engaging you at short range.

"Light Meta" What!? Especially when there are guys who strait up dedicate half if not more of their build to hunting down and legging mobile opponents? no. 3-9 streaks later whatever light weight shows up isn't going anywhere... and if your team has the mobility advantage when the enemy teams down some lights... that's pretty big.

We've been taking a streak crow and a 80 something alpha nova into QP recently and absolutely nuking LW's and a good portion of mediums, all without the use of coolshots. Lights aren't bad, but they are not overpowered or meta by any stretch. Annoying? yes. OP? hell no.

Yeah, like I'm going to drop with Cobra, who overreacted to a joke. Honestly, the life accomplishments of both Cobra and your brother are truly awe-inspiring. If nothing else, I gave you two an opportunity for some bravado, factual or imagined.

This is MWO, not WoT, or WoW, or Rocket League, or CS:GO, or PUBG, or COD, or BF, or any other number of FPS shooters. Your 1337 skills in those games have no bearing here in MWO (though if you can shoot accurately in those games, you can probably shoot accurately here too). Since your stats in MWO show that you are pretty bad at shooting in MWO, I highly suspect that you are highly skilled in some other fps (but I could be wrong)

I'm running some streaks in one of my Marauders (MAD-5D) and they do work but I might switch back to regular srms because I'm encountering more ecm-equipped light mechs these days. Ersl's are a good weapon imo against lights; a bit of range to go with the fast-ish cycle time.

Keep playing KC, you'll eventually find a counter that works for you.

If you want to keep the Streaks, find a way to fit a BAP in there. That will essentially cancel out ECM for you. And make sure you have Artemis on, since it will still decrease the lock time even though it costs you no extra tonnage.

In response to the OP's thread title, the garbage began with repeated blanket nerfs to an entire mech chassis over a single over performing variant. Oh, and engine decouple from agility in the manner it was handled. That's what pushed the dumpster up to the street corner.

Being mad about light mechs if you're in a heavy or assault mech? That's nothing to get angry over. Stay with a friend during the entire match, or even better, two or more. Pack some medium pulse lasers, and/or Streaks if you're really paranoid about them. It's dumb-as-all-hell Assault pilots using LRMs that feel the need to stay at the rear of the group and bring their mechs to a COMPLETE STOP to fire missiles that light pilots can kill with their eyes closed. Stop being one of them.
