We have no confirmation of what next year's qualifying purchases will include, but if you're already going to buy things that will qualify you for this year's top-tier rewards, it just makes sense to put off purchasing anything else until next year's eligibility period starts. That date is close enough now for it to not matter so very much.

Sometimes life is full of hard decisions. My primary alt is mostly clan mechs. The victor(L) doesn't interest me so i'm not going to chase it on that account, and I can live without the ultimate horns on it also. I already qualified for every item on this account the moment they announced the 2017 program. I don't use last year's gatling horns on any mechs because quite frankly...they suck. And there's no guarantee the bagpipe horns will be done correctly either. Amazing grace is the obvious choice for a tune, but kerensky knows what PGI might give us in reality.

Honestly...the whole chasing heroes/reinforcements was just done to appease the cheapskates who don't buy collector packs frequently enough (if ever). Financially...two collectors packs are better, especially if done as say... the piranha and oh...last few months any of the other $15/$30 pack options. Or any packs bought during the late summer sale which were 20% off. Then you could have had two collector packs of bigger IS/Clan mechs for $64.

But what if I already qualify, will the Piranha pack I ordered on the 30th cound for the 2018 loyalty reward or is it hard bound to count only for the 2017, which I already qualify for? Same goes for the Black Lanner, will it count for the 2018?

There's no way to know.

If you're worried about qualifying for next year and already qualify for this year - just get standard packs for now to qualify for pre-order bonuses, then in Dec/Jan get collectors or any extras you want.

Anything ordered before the cut-off date (Nov 14th?) counts for 2017.

Anything ordered after the cut-off date *should* count for 2018. I'd give it until the day after, to make sure.

I'm curious about this. The 2017 loyalty period is 18th Oct 2016 to 14th Nov 2017.

What was the qualifying period for 2016? xxx to 17th Oct 2016? Or 17th Oct 2015 to 14th Nov 2016? Meaning to say the start and end of 2 consecutive periods always overlap?

EDIT: Nvm I found the 2016 news entry:

October 6th 2015 at 10:01 AM PDT (5:01 PM UTC) to October 18th 2016 at 10:00 AM PDT (5:00 PM UTC).

This means that the qualifying period is steadily shifting later into the calendar, by almost a month. If they don't shorten it, 2018's qualifying period will be Nov 2017 to Dec 2018, and 2019's qualifying period will be Dec 2018 to Jan 2020.

Well I decided to skip the Linebacker cuz it's not anywhere near the top of my want list. And if Dec has a mech pack it's probably going to be great one, it being the holiday season and all, so I think that $35 will be put to better use in Dec.
