Thanks PGI. I am so glad that any dippy do that spends $80 and buys two collectors packs trumps my $250-$300 investment in the game. Way to make me feel great for being a loyal customer.

Seriously, this is some BS yet again this year. Why does it not surprise me that PGI would pull the same crap even when there were a hundred posts complaining about this last year.

This honestly just makes me want to flip PGI the bird rather than spend more money. Good Job PGI marketing team, you succeeded in making one of your top spenders, look for other places to spend his money.

Yeah, I already made a thread and sent an email because of the same thing. I didn't spend as much this year because last years loyalty crap pissed me off, but still beat the $80 on both and nadda as well.

Same boat here, dropped about 400-500 bucks on this game since august of last year (when I started playing) but yet I dont qualify for the top tier clan OR inner sphere reward? I do want a c-bill bonus victor and a jj linebacker, but its not worth another 120 bucks. Not by any stretch of the imagination. I may be crying over spilled milk, but dangit, more calcium is needed!

Also, ty to PGI for a missle urbie. That part was done right. :)

That is just the thing. I personally think it is a waste to buy the collectors pack because I already own 44 mechs with 30% C-bill bonus and have damn near a year of premium time and that is all you get with the Collectors pack. What I would rather do is buy the Hero ($15) and/or pick up next months mech pack instead yet I am penalized because I spend my money that way instead of buying collectors packs. This is totally BS to me.

We learned our lesson last year, but PGI didn't make it plain in the store that certain bundles would have been loyalty-eligible. As for me, I got exactly what I imagined I would, based on my limited spending. No complaints this time around.

Sorry for the folks who feel they're getting shafted.

You are not penalised, you are simply not rewarded. These are not the same thing.

Sorry but penalized it the correct word. I am being told I didn't spend my money in the correct way despite spending 3-4 times over the amount that would qualify me if I had spent my money on collectors packs. Sorry but that is a penalty in my estimation. Oh and yeah, I am not getting rewarded either.

I think people need to realize that the Loyalty Program's purpose really isn't to reward loyalty - It's essentially an extra mechpack month. The idea is to get people to spend money from today till November.

So if you feel like you're being shafted, realize you aren't - You just happen to be the target audience of the Hostage Program. Spend, baby, spend.

We all know how these programs are run. You didn't like it last year? Good for you. Were you surprised at how this year turned out? Because you shouldn't be.

I swear, people on this forum are such entitled whiners.

Have already spent, bay, spent. That is the issue. Don't have a problem one with the program rewarding you for spending money, I just have a problem with the fact that the way I spent my money apparently isn't good enough to get rewarded for. That is where the shafting comes in.

PGI "Hi Viktor, thank you for spending near $300 this year on our game but you have been naughty and didn't buy collectors packs, shame on you, guess your just getting the lump of coal." Then....'Oh by the way, we have this lovely Hellspawn mech pack for you to spend even more money on but your still only getting the lump of coal next year if you don't fork over for a Collectors pack or 3".

And anyone care to link the post where they said they were going to change their selection method?

Anyone?

I suspected what I'd qualify for well before they released any information. If you buy two IS collector packs you're good for the IS Top Tier. If you buy two clan collector packs you're good for the Clan Top Tier. If you spent the year buying standard packs then you would not qualify for the Top tier rewards because you haven't been buying the top tier collections.

For myself I got exactly what I thought I'd get. I figured I'd get the IS top tier because I bought the Nightstar and Osiris collector packs, and I wouldn't get the Clan top tier because I haven't bought any clan collector packs. I can upgrade my Arctic Wolf standard pack to collector for $20 and buy the Cougar collector pack ($30) or Marauder IIC collector pack ($32 from sept 26 to oct 4) to qualify for the clan top tier and ultimate rewards but I'll make that decision later.

Somehow I fail to feel any sympathy. Just buy the entirety of the Javelin pack, that should give you all the IS rewards for cheaper.

Try to look at it this way:

Part of the added value of the collector level (besides premium time and c-bill bonus) is that it qualifies you for the annual top tier loyalty awards.

I recall them saying they would "look into it" or words to that effect, but I don't remember them saying it would definitely change.

This is just silly.

I spent more money than that on contests rewards and oh me, oh my, not one penny of that goes toward my "loyalty" rewards. I feel so snubbed. Insulted even! Actually, no. Not even a tiny bit.

See, my spending gets other people their loyalty rewards, but that isn't some nasty ploy on PGI's part to make me feel ripped off, or whatever. It isn't a snub, rather, that is how it works. Just as if I want a loyalty reward, I need to buy what PGI says I should buy. It's their game, it's their program. It's that simple. Moreover the precedent from last year ought to have been a loud and clear message to you as to what needed to be done in order to qualify this year.

Edit. Also, stop making me defend PGI. It's making me very uncomfortable damn it.

They do not even call them "Loyalty" rewards anymore. They are just targeted rewards for buying certain things during the year.

Hey dad... can I have ice cream for breakfast.... I'll consider it son... NO.

*shrugs* If they never said they would change it, then people expecting them to only have themselves to blame thinking that they would.

I didn't really expect them to change it. PGI isn't the smartest company when it comes to public relations/customer outreach (although their customer service folks are top notch when you have a problem, I will give them that). As such, I won't be ranting about this one and cancelling future purchases over it.

That said, before PGI went all wobbly with their decision making in the 2nd half of this year (I'm sure some would say that happened much longer ago Posted Image ) I purchased 3 different clan mechpacks with reinforcements and/or heroes. But never a collector pack. I think it's pretty crappy that they chose to limit the top tier stuff to collector only instead of $$$ spent or a wider spectrum of mechpack options. That will weigh into my global decision making on how much to spend with PGI going forward. That's all you can do. Politely express your dissatisfaction and go your own way. They make a decision (X), you make a decision (Y). If (Y) results in a negative outcome for PGI, maybe they won't make (X) again.
