If everywhere and everyone is referring to it as a "reward" how is it not really a reward ? I understand completely what you are saying when it comes to business models, but if you take things at face value there is a reason to be upset if you are one of those that missed the cut.

It's a reward in the sense that it's a freebie, but it's not a reward for simply spending money, it's for spending money on a select few items. People feel entitled to things because they are labelled as rewards, so it's a poor term to use, however nice the intent may (or may not) be.

I got the resistance II Crab level Pack. Did I screw up if I wanted the free Griffin?

Nope, that will do it. If you wanted the Victor, you could upgrade it to the Mauler pack.

It may not be exactly the same, but anyone concerned just about having the mechs for the interesting hardpoints and not the cbill boost and unique look can wait until 2018 and buy them for cbills.

You are not penalised, you are simply not rewarded. These are not the same thing.

Clarification - if you are a recipient of an ultimate pack, does that qualify you?

That qualifies you for 1 Collector's pack worth of rewards.

The original comment just evoked in my mind the idea of a shadowcat, but wherein all the edges were rounded and fattened up, and the arms sag down from their own flabby weight and behold: a Linebacker. Give such a critter jump jets, and the Shadowfat is a reality. Just saying it: "Shadowfat" makes me snicker.

Because as worthless as the collectors packs are, the loyalty program is not an incentive to buy a collectors pack, but you are rather buying a loyalty mech with the cheapest crap pack you can find. In my case I will upgrade the Osiris and the Javelin if I choose to go for the Victor.

Had it on the other hand been like before when you'd get the best variant as a "hero", like for Warhammers and Marauders, then I would upgrade these and feel good about it. As it is now however, I bought these standard packs in 2015 so I guess upgrading them now wont count. So, either I'll upgrade some light, or more likely just sit this one out.

You've never gotten the "best" variant as Hero. The "Special" has always been the TRO standard model. Good, bad or ugly, it's the one that is supposed to be the most common. So anytime you got the "best" as the Collectors it is jsut as much a fluke as when you get the worst.

I'm not sure how anyone can White Knight the policy of qualifying certain purchases and leaving others out. Especially when we are talking about such trivial rewards, its all digital content. Its just a toke of appreciation from PGI and they are really tight at showing appreciation in this regard.

whenever someone doesn't agree with entitlement whining it must be White Knighting... yup. Pure genius..no real contribution to the argument to make so whip out name calling. Why not? Worked for a President, why not for forum whining, eh?

Stop White Knighting for reasoned arguments, fact based commentary/analysis and insult free forums, Bishop. It's disgusting.

It's not a reward. It's a reason to spend money in a certain way.

Specifically, to spend money on things with little incentive to buy in the first place.

that distinction really is subjective. I don't change my pattern of spending because of a possible loyalty mech at the end of the year. And some things I buy oh look.. I end up qualifying for this "thank you card" from PGI. Oh and I qualified for this one too. But not that one. *shrugs* seems like a reward to get 3 free robots, etc, a year or so before anyone else can, with boosts, etc... just for buying what I was going to buy anyhow.

Most years I end up buying a top tier pack because there is one I want somewhere. This year I couldn't afford to it, and there weren't any MUST have ones. So I didn't buy one "just to qualify", either this year, when I bought none, or last year or the year before, when I bought a couple each.

With the possible exception of the MC Reward, because it's such low hanging fruit, if you are intentionally changing your spending just to qualify for these, well.... I won't say you need a therapist, but really... you probably do.

It's worked the same every year so I don't really understand "I've spent this much and shafted again!" line, if you've been here for the other loyalty programs you could have spent that money in a way that would qualify you since you know exactly how thew loyalty rewards work.

I have more sympathy for a new player that didn't know.

In any case it's a marketing ploy to make you upgrade your mech packs, not a reward for spending money.

because entitlement syndrome never takes a vacation.

Did you try to contact customer support? Maybe PGI will be forthcoming with your issue. Forthcoming might seem the wrong word but you never know.

Hardly the ideal solution but I'd give it a try.

I got a "I like this idea, we'll look into doing it.".... that was two and a half years ago.....

took about 2 years to get the NARC warning indicator added after Russ said the same thing when I suggested it. And multiple reminders.

Hey, at least you got a response. I'm still at a loss for why the Cicada hasn't had it's engine cap bumped up to match the new engine/speed standards...

not enough people clamoring for it, not something that is likely to add substantially to the bottom line anymore?
